Downloaded 7.7, but now can't open itunes

I am working with Windows XP. I upgraded my itunes to 7.7 but when I tried to open it, it would not open. I took instructions from one of the help articles that told me to delete the document SCInfo.sidb, howeveer after doing that and restarting my computer it still would not open. Does anyone know how I can fix this so I can open itunes?

I am also having problems with instal of itunes 7.7
I am running XP pro SP3 on my laptop and kept getting Error 1316.A when I tried to instal. I used windows instal cleanup to remove all old traces of prev instals.
Now when I try to run it I just get a message saying it encountered a prolem and needs to close (Aside)[sending MS error reports doesn't help]
The same happens when I try to open quicktime.
I've had error messages WS_FTP not properly installed for user. Does this have anything to do with it??
When I get this working I'm not even sure it will recognise my ipod.
What ARE you doing Apple?
It makes me want to bin my Ipod and go back to generic MP3 players

You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update. I recommend following the steps below:
Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
When you get to the step to uninstall iTunes, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

One question I have for you is what version of Java is needed for that application?

If you select the Movies part of your iTunes library, is there a Rentals tab on it ?
