Downloaded a rented movies from itunes, started to watch it but it stopped half way through
In the middle of the movies it stopped.
I can see the movie under my videos but when I click on it I get the following error message:
This movie could'nt be played"
What can I do?

Why does it take hours to download a rented movie from iTunes.
When I rent a movie or TV show from iTunes with my AppleTV (2), the download starts and I get a message saying the download will take an an hour and 45 minutes to download. Then when the download it complete and I start to play it, I get a message saying downloading - and the rental never starts.
My AppleTV (2) it running the latest version, and it's plugged directly into my router via ethernet. I have reset the Apple TV, router and modem.
Netflix and YouTube streaming through AppleTV are immediate and seem to work fine.What is your actual internet speed? use www.speedtest.net and post the results.
A sustained 6 Mbit/s or faster Internet connection is recommended for viewing High Definition movies and TV shows, and a sustained 2.5 Mbit/s or faster Internet connection is recommended for Standard Definition content. Internet connection speeds may vary depending on your ISP and other factors.
Using Netflix or Youtuve is not a good test as Youtube is must lower quality than HD rentals, and Netflix uses a variable quality download system that reduces quality based on your internet speed. -
I downloaded several songs yesturday to later realise that when played , all of them either break up or the song cuts off. I have tried ACC download / create ACC as suggested but all each song is saying is an error occurred. What do i do ?
What format are these problem tracks in? If they are MP3's, trying running them through the MP3 Validator utility to have it fix any missing or corrupted track data.

Then remove the tracks from the iPod and resync the newly repaired ones over to it.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.) -
Can I watch a rented movie from Itunes (iMac) on my Apple TV 3 without airplay and home sharing?
I recently download a rented movie from itunes store in my iMac. My question is, if I can watch my rented movie in my apple tv without Airplay or Home sharing? The reason is because I don't want to turn on my iMac every time that I want to watch a movie.

Does it use data to watch a rented movie from iTunes on IPad? Is it streaming or just downloaded?
You must get the movie onto your iPad somehow. If you download it while on Wi-Fi you will not use cellular data. Once the movie has been downloaded you will not use cellular data or Wi-Fi.

Trouble renting movie from itunes
Has anybody ever received a message when renting movies from iTunes directly on to Apple TV, 2nd G, Error-unable to download content, try again later. I have not rented anything in a while and I do not seem to be able to move past this point in the rental process. The movie is behaving like it has been rented, as it is showing I have 29 days to view. Upon pressing play, it starts showing the loading, and then instead of starting to play the movie or provide an estiamte of how long until it can be played, it goes to the error message above.
Thank you for the suggestion. I did pull all cables and reboot the router. Some additional information I found as I tried other aspects of Apple TV. Via iTunes I could download and watch theater trailers. On You Tube I could watch Selected content. However, when I tried a You Tube Search, for a topic, I receieved yet another strange message indicating a connection issue. However, mutliple tasks on the menu do connect to the internet and work fine. I have rebooted the Apple TV several times. It almost seems if the software of firmware is corrupted. Does anybody have any additonal thoughts or similar experiences.

I read that I may need to start the movie prior to departure so that it can connect via wifi (or whatever internet connection I use) and start the 24-hr "timer" for rented movies. So,.. no truth to that? More specifically, I can start a rented movie on iTunes, while on a plane, without an internet connection?

If I'm driving in the middle of nowhere will a rented movie from iTunes play fine on my iPad? Or not if the internet connection is potentially intermittent or sporadic?
As long as the movie has completely downloaded, you will not need an Internet connection at all.

As long as the films have been fully downloaded then you should be able to watch them without an internet connection.

Question: Why when downloading a purchased movie from ITunes does it take 8 to 17 hours to download? I have an HP Laptop with Windows 7 using a core processer i7. This is the second day to try to get the movie downloaded and I still cannot watch this movie. Seems like a problem with ITunes or a scam. I use a IPhone 4 with little issues, But when using this lap top -- it is a joke.
First thing to do is get the CC off your system. Then try the direct download option linked below...

i have a macbook pro 15" retina Display with 2.6 ghz and 8gb of ram when i try to download an HD movie from itunes it says my computer doesn't support HD? i went to the support on the apple website and looked at the specs that a computer has to meet in order to play HD movies and mine is well above them. Why can't i play the movies?

These MacBook Pros drew more power than the power brick could readily supply, and so would only run at top speed when the power brick was supplemented by the battery.
Though the applicable tech note has been removed, it stated:

From my own personal experience, I have found that when I turn off the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi only iPad, I am still able to play rented movies on it. I have tried this perhaps four or five times and in each case, this has been the result. I have also noted that other users have had the same experience as I.
However saying that I have noted a small number of users that have stated they are unable to view rented movies without an Internet connection. This knowledge base article from Apple, also suggests that an Internet connection is required.

I'm stumped. I edited together four video clips on Final Cut Pro. Exported that as a Quick Time Movie. Then imported that QT Movie into an iDVD project. Everything looks great when played on FCP... looks great when played as a QT movie... looks great
