Downloaded Apps Disappeared from iPhone 5S

All downloaded apps disappeared from my iPhone 5S. The restriction setting is off and I don't have hidden apps. I tried to reset my phone, but did not work either. When I checked from App Store, it said "open", but I couldn't click open. When a new app finished installing, it also disappeared. HELP!

Assuming you don't have any restrictions set on your apps (Settings --> General --> Restrictions, Apps)
If the app has suddenly disappeared, but when you go to the App Store can it says "Open" instead of insta//download, that means the app is still there, but iOS seems to have lost track of it.
You can try backing up and restoring from a backup.
Or
You can try deleting the app and re-installing:
Settings --> Usuage (wait for the app list to load) and then you delete it there, and then re-install.
(You WILL lose ALL data that was saved under that app tho!)

You can't delete it. Look through all your screens and in all your folders. If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will restore it (and other iOS apps) to its original location.

I have an article for you here that can help you troubleshoot this issue:
Battery life seems short

Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.
If the screen shows a low-battery image, the battery is low on power and needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it.
When charging iPhone, make sure to leave it charging until it is fully charged. You'll know the battery is fully charged when the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen looks like this .
Note: When charging using a computer, don't connect iPhone to a keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain.
Note: Charging with a FireWire-based power source is not supported, except on original iPhone.

Pages app disappeared from iPhone

Setup: I have an iPhone 5S, iPad Air, and two Macs (mini and 13" Retina MBP) all running latest iOS and Mac OS X respectively. I always download all updates. I have just downloaded (two days ago) the latest Pages, Numbers, Keynote updates. On my iPhone I have 'deleting apps' turned off in restrictions and I have all three iWork apps in a folder.
Issue: today, when I looked at my phone the Pages icon has disappeared. Searching for pages doesn't show it in search. When I go to the App Store it says 'Open' but when I touch that, nothing happens. I have tried switching the phone off and on again but the situation persists.
Next step: Go to restrictions allow deleting apps. Download app and documents again.
I will try this and see if it works but it doesn't fill me with confidence as this could theoretically happen on the iPad too and I need all three apps for mission critical work on a daily basis.
I will report what happens next here.

OK just went to Usage and deleted it from there. Saw this unusual image with the icon showing but no name next to it:
Its OK this time because its Sunday afternoon/ evening here in the UK and I have WiFi to make it all pretty painless but it would have been different in a work or mobile situation where I needed the Pages app and my documents.

Not long ago my wife signed on to my Apple ID so she could get some of my songs. Maybe that has something to do with it? I double checked that my apple ID was the one that purchased the songs and is the current ID signed on to my phone. Also, just to see if it made any difference. I signed out of my ID and signed back in, now all of the songs that were listed and needing to be downloaded are gone completely. I went to iTunes and they are showing as purchased but not able to download. any suggestions?

As far as I know you should be prompted for the password for an account that 'owns' one of the apps that requires updating.
If all of the apps with updates are linked to your account and that is the account that is now logged in, then you could try a reset and see if that helps : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

All podcasts disappear from iPhone whenever I sync with iTunes

I have a very annoying issue whenever I sync my iPhone with iTunes.
I download all podcasts on the iPhone directly, never in iTunes. But I still want to sync music etc. with iTunes.
I have not checked the checkbox for sync of Podcasts in the Podcasts tab, but everytime I sync the iPhone, all podcasts on the iPhone are removed. Why is this? This is not very consistent with how the rest of sync works, I have also left sync for Applications unchecked, and this does not result in all apps disappearing from the iPhone.
Has anyone else experience this?
Btw, I am using iTunes on WinXP, at work...

How do I install a downloaded app onto the iPhone?

When you get an app from the App Store, it automatically downloads and installs. The installation process is not separate from the downloading process. To download an app, simply go to the App Store and tap the price of the app. That button will turn into "Install" or "Buy App", and tapping that button will start downloading the app.
The app will appear on your Home screen. Flick between the pages to find it. If you can't find it, use Spotlight search to find it. If you are running iOS 7, pull down on the apps to reveal a search bar; if you are running iOS 6 or earlier, flick to the left of the leftmost Home screen page to find a search bar.

When you download them and open the image, are you copying the app into your Applications folder or just running it from the image?
If the latter, drag them into your Applications folder and open them from there.

i hear something about 1.1.4 coming out next couple weeks that true ???

The release of the SDK is scheduled sometime this month. That will allow developers to design software for the phones. After approval from Apple, they would be made available, probably through iTunes.
No one here would know about a release of 1.1.4, or if the next update will even be called 1.1.4. That is up to Apple and they don't release that information early.

Connect the phone to your computer, but do not sync. Make sure iTunes is authorized to the same account that you bought the apps with. Then select "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes File menu. Once this finishes the apps will be on your computer, so you can sync safely.
