Downloaded apps do not show up desktop iTunes 8.0.1.11

Hi,
I just recently got a first generation Ipod touch. When I hook it up to my itunes on my desktop, it shows up and I can transfer music extra on it.
But when I go to the Itunes Apps Store on the desktop and choose to buy an application, it buys it and says its downloading it. But after downloading it does not show up in the apps section of my itunes (desktop). And when I check the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications" it is blank with the directory inside it - C:\Documents and Settings\anish\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications\Downloads\applicationname.tmp
iTunes did not create the ipa files in the Mobile Applications directory at all. So I can't sync an application to the touch, as iTunes sees no application as there is no .ipa file of the application.
But if I go to apps store via the touch and buy it - it then downloads and installs it, and then I can sync it via touch to desktop easily.
But why can't I buy applications on the desktop iTunes and have it sync with my touch.
I have even deleted all the sync histories, backups and even completely restored my touch - (its running 2.1). Still the same issues.
I do not how to solve this.
If anyone can help me - that would be great.

I just tested a fresh new install of itunes (latest 8.0.1.11) on another computer, authorized it and I did not connect touch to it. I just went to app store and bought a free app. And the same issue happened - it downloads the apps and stores the files in its temp folder, but does not process and create the ipa application file. And it does not show up in the my application section of itunes either.
Could there be a problem with the latest version of itunes. I am absolutely running out of ideas...
Can anybody confirm this bug or issue?

PS - One application did process completely was the nytimes.com application. Out of everything else - only this one did work.

use search function to find "creative cloud" program. If not, you need to download it again.

I got an iPod Touch for Christmas. I have been downloading apps and all of the sudden the will not load to my iPod. I have nine pages of apps and the iPod will not let me add any more. If I delete 1 can add one. AM I LIMITED TO NINE PAGES?

have you upgraded to the latest software? you can only download apps to ipod touches with software 2.0 or later.
if yes, then when you connect your ipod to itunes, on the ipod overview screen should be an applications tab, what are the settings on there?

App folders not showing up in itunes ???

I have an iPhone 4 and iTunes 10.2.1.1
I have multiple folders set up on my iPhone containing all my apps. However when I sync my phone to iTunes the screen shots of my phone that show up in iTunes does NOT show any folders. (Under the apps tab where you can organize your apps and sync options.) All of my apps show up individually.
Can someone please help?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not unhappy with my overall experience.
I've had it turned on on my iDevices since yesterday, that's how I know it isn't syncing sub-folders.
I've really only ever used smart playlists as a tool, not for order, so that doesn't effect me.
It didn't move my playlists anywhere, thus my beef that I had to move the playlists I wanted access to out of their organized subfolders. When I did this they instantly appeared on my iPad in their new, service acceptable locations.
This is new frontier stuff, and that means there will be some things we learn to do different, and hopefully smarter and faster. Apple doesn't dump this stuff out there and walk away. The kinks will get ironed out, and the early adapter that stick with it will ultimately find the experience they desire, or this was never the service for them. Just because it doesn't work the way you want it to, doesn't mean it doesn't work. I didn't decide to subscribe to the service because change offends me, and I can't blame Apple for finally introducing this new service that I was prepared to join two weeks ago, and didn't have time to re-learn until after the first of the year.

IPad apps are not showing up in iTunes

The front page of the App Store in iTunes on my Mac will let me choose between iPhone and iPad, and the iPad apps show up there, But if I navigate to a specific category, I only see iPhone apps. There seems to be no way to choose between seeing iPhone or iPad apps. This just happened, after at least a year of successful iPad app store navigating. I already updated to the currnet version. Same behavior before and after.

Most likely, your iPad is being seen as an iPhone. Connect it then look at the summary screen for the device. It will say iphone at the top of the page. This will prevent you syncing any apps that are iPad only.

Tap the Videos app and tap the movies button at the top of the page.
The iTunes app on your iPad is just a conduit to the iTunes Store. To play your purchases, use the iPod app or the Videos app.

It might not be compatible with the iPad or the iOS version you're running on your iPad (you can check the app store to find out). You also have to have the same Apple ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores and have Apps turn to On under Automatic Downloads.

Of course it always works, what are you talking about.
I appreciate that re-downloading is only available in the US and then only with certain content. However content that cannot be re-downloaded is not offered for purchase on the Apple TV.

My podcast artwork is not showing in the iTunes store or in the Podcasts app

My podcast, the Legal Seagull, was recently posted to iTunes. The problem is that the artwork is not showing in the iTunes store or on the iPhone's Podcasts app. Once you actually download the episodes, the image does appear.
I verified that my image is 1400 X 1400; however, it does appear to be around 700kb. I have seen some posts about how you should try to keep it under 500kb, but I haven't seen anything official from Apple to that effect.
I note that there is a man out there called Roger Wilmut, who is extremely knowledgable about this issue and has responded to many similar questions. Mr. Wilmut, if you are out there, could you please advise whether my feed is set up correctly? If it is just a waiting process, I'm fine with that- I just want to make sure that I've set everything correctly on my end.

OK, looks like the problem has resolved! All it took was a few days of waiting patiently

New Apps not showing up in iTunes

I just downloaded 3 new free Apps from the iTunes store. None of them are showing up in iTunes to sync to my iPod. When I use Finder and do a search for them they all show up in my Mobile Applications folder with the rest of them, they just will not show up in iTunes. Is there a glitch or did I do something wrong? One of them I actually paid for and when I tried to download it again it said that I have already paid for the App and I could download it again for free. Tried that and it is still not showing up. Want to figure this out before I purchase any more.

You should be able to copy them to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to the iPhone (or you could re-download them directly on the iPhone)

I upgraded to iTunes 11 recently and have now purchased some additional content from the iTunes store. The files have been downloaded but do not show up in my library. A search yields some results but I cannot access the songs in my library nor can I add them to 'up next' although the option is available from the search results menu.
First thing I tried was to add them again manually but the problem persists. Any clues?

OK, I found a solution. Here it goes, just in case anybody else comes across this issue:
I deleted all the relevant entries from the iTunes Libary.xml AND iTunes Music Library.xml files (with iTunes closed, of course) and removed the files on the harddrive library structure to another location. I then restarted iTunes and added the album manually to my library again. In my case, I got iTunes to handle my library and the files were thus copied back to my old structure by the iTunes. To finish I reimported the album artwork and that was that.
Hope that I won't encounter this issue with future purchases under iTunes11, this workaround IS a bit of a hassle!
