Downloaded attachments show download date as "Date Created"

I am having an issue with Mail but have also tried using my webmail ( Gmail ) and I am having the same issue. When I download an attachment ( documents, jpegs, etc ) , it does not retain the original date created, instead it displays the download date as "Date Created ". Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Daniel

No, as far as I know, because the document is "created" as a new document (or is that recreated? when you save it to disk. This is true not only for email attachments, but to any file copied to your hard drive, and the same is true under Windows.
However, some programs save that information within the file itself, independently of your OS's file information. For example, in MS Office apps, if you go to File > Properties you can find the original date created under the Statistics tab (but note that the General tab shows the date you downloaded the file as "date created").

Try always to Purge the Cache through the Tools Menu in Bridge.  The global Purge Cache has been broken for years, at least through Bridge CS4.  Don't have CS5.

  • Bridge CS4 Photo Downloader Date Created

Quick question. When using the Adobe Bridge CS4 Photo Downloader to download pictures from a camera, how do I keep the original shot dates (date created) to show up in the Finder Info. Seems like it's just putting the date modified (downloaded date and time) into the date created.
    Is this a known bug?

    Thanks, John.
I did do a search before posting but didn't find an answer.  My alternate way of doing this is in Unix with a shell script and DCRAW, but in trying to create a standard workflow, I realized this was one place that complicates things.
Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

  • After upgrading to elements 12 the metadata shows incorrect date created?

After upgrading from elements 8 to 12 all the pictures in the album have a new date created in the metadata the is the date I upgraded.  this is incorrect because the picture was not created on this date but moved or updated.  This is a problem when running things like screen savers that go by date created.  How do I fix the metadata to reflect the actual date the picture was created?

  • Date created not working in Finder

In finder, after I import photos, or even look at photos on a NAS drive created well before I got the Mac, the date modified and date created is exactly the same. When I look at the same files under Windows Explorer, they show correct date created (in Windows it actually says Date Photo Taken) and date modified. Any ideas?
Also the time stamp in Finder is one hour ahead of the actual time as displayed at the top right of the menu bar.
I'm new to the Mac so any help appreciated.

    Hi,
I think it will be fine to trunc the begin time since :p_StartDate and p_EndDate are just dates without time stamp
    i.e:
    select * from
    table1
    where trunc(begintime) >= :p_StartDate and trunc(begintime) <=:p_EndDate;
any problem with this. Please share the thought.

  • Why does the Date Created metadata change when images are exported? How do I stop it from changing?

why does the Date Created metadata change when images are exported?  How do I stop it from changing? I must have a prefernce set up wrong.

I don't know what OS you are using, or what application you are using to view the data about your exported files, but on Windows and using Windows Explorer the "Date Created" field relates only to the date that the exported file was created, i.e. if viewed immediately after export it will show the date created as being the same date. In order to view "Capture Date" in something like Explorer, you first have to ensure you have included the Metadata as Conrad outlined above, then you have to adjust the display properties of Explorer to show the "Date Taken" field. Here is an example, part of a folder I exported back on March 3rd, note the difference between that last two dates:

    Hi geezer,
when you open your 'Downloads' folder choose 'View'  in the Menu bar and choose:
    'as List'
    'Show View Options'
In 'View options' window you tick:
    'Always open in list view'
    'Date Modified', or
    'Date created'
Now inside the 'Downloads' folder click on 'Date Created' (or 'Date Modified')
column to get items alined from oldest to newest date (or reverse)…

  • Downloads with Safari show wrong date

Hi, this is my first post and I'm stumped.
When I download a file (i.e. PDF) via Safari on either my Imac or Macbook (4.03 and 4.02) both running Leopard 10.5.7 it shows up in my downloads folder with the wrong date: wrong year, month, and day.
When I download the same file with Firefox the download date is correct.
Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy this annoying problem? Thanks.

Ok. I just downloaded a PDF via Safari that shows the creation date as: 23/12/08 1:10 AM.
Same file downloaded via Firefox shows date correctly: today at 9:16 PM.
The date from Safari has been all over the map... 03, 07, 00 etc. all different.

  • Download data from interactive report

Hi all. I'm on apex 3.1.1.00.09.
I have this problem: when I download data from interactive report I can download only in CSV and PDF. If I try to download into pdf it creates a file of only 1 KB.
I would know if I must configure my apex in order to download correctly in pdf and if I must configure it in order to download in doc and xls format.
    Thanks all for collaboration,
    Fabrizio

    Thank you for your reply.
I am able to download the csv file, but my problem is: I don't want the column headings to show.
Is it possible to download only the data, not the column headings?

    Hi,
Here is a small sample program to convert data in an internal table into XML format and display it.
DATA: itab  TYPE TABLE OF spfli,
          l_xml TYPE REF TO cl_xml_document.
    * Read data into a ITAB
SELECT * FROM spfli INTO TABLE itab.

    * Display XML Document
    CALL METHOD l_xml->display.
Here are some other sample SAP programs to handle XML in ABAP:

    Hope this helps,

  • Download data entered via web to a text file.

    Hello,
I'm developing a very simple BSP aplication in which the user enters via web some data in some fields. This data is store in an internal table. This table is an attribute in the application class. In this class there is a method to save the data to a file in presentation server. I've tried using WS_DOWNLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD but these function modules don't work. I would like to know if there some function modules or methods to download data to a file and that can be used in a BSP aplication.
    Thank you very much,

    Hallo Carlos,
Welcome to the forum. As with all things new in life, one does not know where to start immediately. I would like to recommend the <a href="/people/brian.mckellar/blog/2004/06/11/bsp-trouble-shooting-getting-help">Getting Help</a> guide as first interesting article to read.
Specifically you are interested in the section for searching this forum. Use keywords such as download or GUI_DOWNLOAD. Also consider to look at keyword Excel. Although not exactly on topic, the Excel discussions does address this partly. All of this has been discussed many time before.
Finally, consider to read <a href="/people/mark.finnern/blog/2003/09/23/bsp-programming-handling-of-non-html-documents">BSP Programming: Handling Of Non-HTML Documents</a>. This will really show you some different techniques to download files onto the computer.

  • Email attachments show up as win.dat.

Ok, apple is really hitting a nerve with this.  My iPhone 4 used to have attachments show up as the appropriate extensions up to about 8 months ago.  All the forum and blog post say it is a problem with my mail server/source. Ie outlook, rich txt, HTML .  Well I've tried everything and was not able to fix the problem.  We just got two iPads.  And I was playing around with them.  I sent a message with attachments to both our email addresses when opened on her ipad she was able to download and view the attachments.  However on mine the attachments showed up as a win.dat.  I no longer believe this is an outlook issue anyone have any suggestions other then purchasing some third party software or telling me something is wrong with my outlook.

  • False download dates?

    Hey all,
Whenever I download a file, SOMETIMES (not always) a downloaded will show an incorrect, seemly random date as the date created and date modified.
For example, I have one download that says "Mar 7, 2005 9:34 PM" under Date Modified and Date Created.
I have only had my Mac since middle of 2009. So clearly this is either a bug in the system or I'm not understanding how it is organized.
So can someone explain to me why this is happening? And if I can, a way to fix it so it shows me the date that I downloaded it.
    Thanks!

Honestly, seeing that a file I downloaded was created in 2005 doesn't do me any good. Who cares.
Many people. The date of creation can tell you a lot. For example, I have seen it happen that an update for some application is released, updating that app to a certain version number, and it has a major bug introduced last minute and discovered after the updater was uploaded. Then, a fixed updater is released, with the same version number, but minus the bug. If you have already downloaded the updater when you hear about that, how do you know if you need to download it again? The creation date.
Is there a way for it to display the date that I downloaded the file rather than the file creation date?
I've honestly never paid attention to this, but have you looked at the modification date? Perhaps that one is updated when the file is downloaded.
Often times I like sorting stuff by date as to when it was downloaded to find stuff I recently downloaded.
Sounds like your problem is that you need to clean out your downloads folder. My personal preference is to download to the desktop, which (since I hate a cluttered desktop) forces me to deal with the download somehow. I file it away somewhere or delete it as necessary, never leaving it on the desktop long.

  • Problem in downloading data from application server

    Hi,
I tried the following code for downloading data to PC in background:
    PARAMETERS: p_file LIKE rlgrap-filename OBLIGATORY.
OPEN DATASET p_file FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
        LOOP AT itab INTO istab.
          TRANSFER istab TO p_file.
        ENDLOOP.
    ENDIF.
Here, the contents are not getting transferred to the p_file. I give the path of the file while executing the program.
First of all, the file is not getting created in PC. And the statement 'OPEN DATASET p_file FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT'. is working but unable to read after that using READ DATASET statement.

    HI,
You can use this code .............
OPEN DATASET gv_dataset for input in text mode encoding default.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        DO.
          clear gv_rec.
          READ DATASET gv_dataset INTO gv_rec.
          if sy-subrc <> 0.
            append gv_rec to gt_raw.
            exit.
          endif.
          append gv_rec to gt_raw.
        ENDDO.
        CLOSE DATASET gv_dataset.
      ELSE.
        gv_retcode = 1.
      ENDIF.
