Downloaded brushes locked and disappearing! PS CS5

Well i have downloaded some brushes for my PS Cs5, and when they download they
are locked, and when i go into PS, they have disappeared, but are there when i download another fil
e....PLEASE help!!!!
Oh and they are ABR files, so no need to unzip.

I put ABR files straight into the brushes folder (as this worked fine for cs3), and winzip to the downloads folder, then extract to the brushes folder.
They are locked as in they have a little gold paddlock on the file icon in the bottom left corner, and when i actually open photoshop and go into load brushes, those files are not listed at all.
This is using the trial version of photoshop, not the extended version. But i am now hesitant to buy the cs5 design suite if i cant use my brushes that i made custom in cs3.

I have Lightroom 4 final version: I downloaded beta CS6 and it overwrote CS5 Photoshop in LR4

1st. is my question in the wrong forum?
If not, I downloaded beta vers. CS6 (yippeee) and it overwrote PS CS5 in LR only. Yes, I still have CS5 on my computer, it didnt overwrite it.
Can you please tell me how to bring PS CS5 back into LR4?

CS6 became the "most recent" version of your "pixel editor" when you installed the beta. That's normal...if you want to edit in CS5 instead of CS6 you can either add a secondary editor (CS5) or you can zip (or otherwise compress or uninstall) CS6 and toss the unzipped allplication Photoshop CS6. Understand, all this is a normal situation when you install a more recent version of Photoshop, it takes over the primary editing function in LR4.

I think it means "the sliders are all 0 so painting adjustments with this brush won't change anything." In other words, move one of the sliders to a non-zero position, for example Exposure from 0 to 1.0, and then see what happens. You can edit the brush and change it to do something other than Exposure +1.

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

Brush lock / freeze - Photoshop CS5

Did some searching on these forums and google but couldn't find a solution.
When painting in Photoshop CS5 ( mac ) the brush tool will often "lock" and turn to the spinning dial icon ( the grey segmented one, not the beach ball ) and remain stuck in this.
I've tried this on different systems using both the new Cintiq 21UX, the old Cintiq 21UX, the Cintiq WX, and a Wacom Intuos 4 XL, on Mac pros and Macbook Pros. Drivers are updated to the most current in all cases.
This only happens when using the stylus. The only way to get out of this without force quitting Photoshop is to use the mouse and click randomly outside the Photoshop interface. This includes the desktop and menu bar. When Photoshop finally snaps out of its funk, the Brush tool applies every click and movement in the canvas before the "unlock" of the Brush tool. Simply doing and undo will fix this.
This happens frequently and is pretty annoying. I've tried turning Open GL on and off but the effect is the same.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if it was a big new feature like content aware-something or puppet warp i'm sure it would be fixed right away but since a small percentage of users use mac pro's, CS5 and Nvidia cards and also use painting tools, its not a big deal to adobe.
Quite the reverse: painting tools are used thousands of times more often than the new features.
We do take such problems seriously -- but frankly we've never seen this problem ourselves.
We have every variety of Macintosh, every video card, every OS version -- and no such problem when we're painting.
And we can't do much to solve a problem until we have a reproduceable case to examine.
What we do know is that a small number of people have problems when painting. But we don't know what those people have in common other than running on MacOS. Maybe they are all using NVidia cards, but we don't know for sure.
And the questions I posted were to rule out obvious problems. (and font bugs in the MacOS are causing random memory corruption, which can manifest in odd ways)
Now we need more details.
What OS version are you using?
What haxies and utilities do you have installed?
What else separates your system from a clean install of the OS and applications?
What else makes your system different from everyone else's?

I recently purchased a second hand new macbook air, although it was second hand to me the previous owner had never actually turned it on.

Please check the list yourself and co,mare the necessary CR version with the one your version of Photoshop utilizes.
If the version os higher than yours you can use the free DNG Converter – as to how to use it please read up on that.

Look for a folder called "Downloads" in your iTunes Music folder. If there is such a folder, look for files that would be the partial download and delete those, so that the download starts over from the beginning. Then try again using the "Check for Purchases" command under the iTunes Store menu.
If that doesn't work and the problem persists, contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them.

You can keep your old versions along side CS6. You might want to test CS6 before you uninstall anything else.
