Downloaded Cisco Connect for E1200 v2 disk image damaged. Now what? recent Mountain Lion upgrade

I had originally set up my E1200 Jan 2012 & had Cisco Connect setup. I didn't use it much but back in Oct after being away for 10 days I didn't have internet connection. Had to re-set both cable modem--then I at least had connection via ethernet, but still no wifi connection.  Had to turn off for awhile to get it Router to properly reset & work. & then I think I had to do another reset maybe in Dec, can't remember exactly.
As I mention in another post, I have been having frequent intermittent not connected to internet messages for a long time. Usually if I just turn wifi off & then turn it back on it finds my network (although frequently I notice that it was on my guest network rather than main). I still don't know if it is cable modem, router or my ISP, altho they came out & checked & said signals ok, but modem could be going (Its old but about to move so don't want to buy new modem now).
I updated to Mountain Lion about 2-3 weeks ago.
After a Panic last night I was advised to make sure everything updated including router firmware.
When I opened Cisco Connect it said I had an unsupported Operating System. Trying to figure this all out, I finally found links to download Cisco Connect that are supposed to be compatible w Mountain Lion (at least the original link said that, but not where I went w the links so hoping it is right link for that). Anyway I downloaded it & was reading a bit & then clicket on the setup icon.
That said it was damaged & to eject it. I downloaded it via wifi just like I download other software. Maybe it is hyper sensitive so I need to take it over to plug directly into my cable modem? But then that will mess up the router, although I guess it will need to be reset any way.
So I think i need to get Cisco Connect updated so it works w Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion told me about 1 software that wasn't compatible but didn't pick up on Cisco Connect.
So don't know if I need to do a hard wired download, unlike the way I download other things, or what to get an undamaged copy. I then hope that it will see the old version, even though it isn't didn't work & hopefully pick up all my settings & all.
& then I guess I still need to check for a firmware update. & I understand that a firmware update should be done w a good connection (although the user manual just says good signal, web says hard wired ethernet. & because of the intermittent issues I plan to to it manually by 1st downloading & then installing from the download so there won't be a risk of interruption during install--if its even needed.
I'm running on a mid April 2010 13" MacBookPro
Any suggestions? This all is rather confusing.

Well I was trying to update Cisco Connect so it would work w Mountain Lion but after 3 tries at the download I kept getting this same error message that it is downloaded. I even shut down & restarted before the last time w same result.
I should not have to spend hours of my time to get this to work. That is ridiculous.
Right before starting this process I checked for Apple updates & found a firmware update for my MacBookPro. I quickly downloaded & installed it, no problem. It took a very few minutes & then I backed it up & started working on this many hours ago.
I am an end user--not an IT professional. I just want things to work. I should not be expected to have to spend hours trying to figure out how to get stuff to work & still it doesn't. So I guess Linksys doesn't care that much about making things easy for Mac users.
I recently had the cable co come out & check the levels & all. they all checked out ok & they did change the fittings in several places on the coax connecters for good measure.
My cable modem is set up just across my living room from me & it is not a large living room. The router is right next to it, but it is not at a desk or place that is very comfortable to set up my Mac.
I sure hope that those security settings have been set up by default when I orginally set this up about a year ago. & I don't reall know how to change those settings without Cisco Connect, which I have been unable to get reinstalled since i keep getting those warnings about it being damaged.
I just want my computer devices to work. I don't want to have to spend hours troubleshooting them w poorly written instructions that don't really tell how to update firmware & Cisco Connect for tnose of us who have already had it set up before upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Having a link to download Cisco Connect that supposedly works w Mountain Lion but doesn't since it keeps giving a warning is not very helpful. There was nothing I saw in all my searches to tell what the results of even being able to upgrade Cisco Connect. Would it be able to figure existing settings? Didn't see anything that explained how that would work.
I don't appreciate my time being stolen by making it so hard to just get this updated! I"m giving up on this. I may try taking it back to Best Buy to see if they can tell if the router itself was also defective but I think I will likely go get an airport Express so I have a reliable router that is easy to use!

I am keep getting this error "The disk is used for Time Machine Backup" when installing the new OSX Mountain Lion" when doing the upgrade to newly OS.

The folder would be at the root of your hard drive. Double-click Macintosh HD and look there.
If it isn’t there, I’m not sure what it is seeing.

  • HT1338 For some reason I simply cannot find a button anywhere to purchase Mountain Lion upgrade software.

I have been looking for the click button to purchase Mac OS X Mountain Lion upgrade.
I have been going round and round and cannot find that place.  Please help.

From what I've read on these forums over the past few months, it hasn't gotten any better. An electronic order from any company shouldn't take more than 12 hours for a system to respond to, but people have been waiting up to a week for their redemption code email to arrive. It makes no sense to me why it would take that long.

The D610 didn't get out-of-the-box RAW support until Photoshop CC.
You can either upgrade to CC or use the DNG Converter to convert and open your DNGs in CS5.

  • Even though I have LCD font smoothing disabled, Mountain Lion still uses it in PDF views, Safari's location bar, Mail's message view, and the dialogs for mounting encrypted disk images.

Even though I have LCD font smoothing disabled, Mountain Lion still uses it in PDF views, Safari’s location bar, Mail’s message view, and the dialogs for mounting encrypted disk images. Is there any solution to this problem? Also diabled the Smoothing in the SystemPrefs and also via Terminal. Font smoothing is still there. Very annoying, especially in PDF attachments in Apple Mail.

Try feeding Safari a user-defined CSS file with font-smoothing tweaks (including none). The filename and its filesystem location are arbitrary. Use your favorite coding editor.
Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Style Sheet:
Here is an example with all elements uncommented. Pick the one that works best for your Safari viewing and comment out the others:
Preview. Try Preview > Preferences > PDF > Smooth text and line art (uncheck)

  • Trouble installing Cisco Connect for E4200

I just got a new E4200 router and downloaded Cisco Connect from the web site...file name CiscoConnect.E4200.1.4.11160.2.exe. When I try to run it, I find through Task Manager that Setup.exe is using about 35 to 40% CPU, but I'm never even getting to anything on the screen, nor is Task Manager even showing it as a running application. I'm running Windows XP SP3 (latest updates). I tuned off the AVG virus scan. But it still just seems to hang. Any ideas? BTW, I used the web interface to fully configure the router and it works fine so I could get by without Cisco Connect, but it might just be easier to use. Thanks. -Bruno

I suppose I've waited five to ten minutes.
This isn't Cisco Connect... it's the install Setup. I tried running it from the CD that came with the router and that one first had me agree to the terms, then it said it was downloading updates and just hung there... but I could see that it had given up actually downloading from the net. When I tried to install from the downloaded setup (not CD), it never got to any user interface.
I'll try again tomorrow and wait longer. But what would it be doing that would suck up CPU time so heavily. It's only an installation setup. BTW, both version sucked up CPU time and the Task Manager said it was Setup.exe that was doing it.

This is not difficult and you will not have to download from the app store.
your computer has what is called  a recovery partition that came with it.
simply hold cmd+R while you boot up. let go a second after you hear the chime.
you will boot into the recovery partition.
Use disk utlity to format your usb drive and then exit Disk utlity and go to Reinstall Mountain Lion.
it will ask  you which disk you want to install ML onto. Choose your new USB drive.
    easy peasy

  • Unable to unlock encrypted disk images created with Snow Leopard using Lion

Anyone else unable to unlock encrypted disk images created with Leopard and Snow Leopard with Lion?  I know that they made changes with the release of FileVault 2 on Lion and Snow Leopard cannot use Lion encrypted disks but I thought it was backwards compatible where Lion should still be able to work with Snow Leopard created images (it was in the pre-release versions of Lion).
When attempting to mount an encrypted disk image created with Snow Leopard on Lion the normal password prompt appears but then just reappears every time the password is entered and does not unlock and mount the image.  I'm positive the correct password is being entered and it works just fine when done on a machine running Snow Leopard.

Not in cases when the computer successfully boots to one OS but produces three beeps when an attempt is made to boot it to another. If it really was a RAM problem that serious, the computer wouldn't get as far as checking the OS version, and it has no problems booting Lion. In the event of a minor RAM problem, it wouldn't produce three beeps like that at all.

If the HDD is formatted NTFS, then it suggests that there is a problem with the PC.  Check with the manufacturer.

From the App Store menu bar top of your screen click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
If that doesn't help, disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband (high speed internet) access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

You can share it with other Macs under your control (not your neighbor's).  You just need to be logged in under the buying AppleID for updates or to download again.

  • Downloading Mountain Lion upgrade from App Store failed

I'm upgrading my wife's iMac from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion. Just tried to download the Mountain Lion upgrade from the App Store. I paid for it, clicked on the download, the little icon did it's fancy leap down to the application bar at the bottom of the page, and the item in the app store said it was downloading as well as the white bar beneath the icon in the app bar at the bottom of the screen. Nothing happened. I left the computer and came back about ten minutes later. The app store had crashed. Rebooted it. Tried the download process again. Same result.
I paid about $20 for the system software upgrade so I would like, if possible, to use the app store item if I can. Is there a solution without a trip to the Apple Store to buy the system upgrade?
    John Kendrick

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.

  • New Code for Mountain Lion upgrade is wrong

New IMac Code sent by Apple to get Mountain Lion upgrade (free) did not work/not recognized on App Store page. What should I do?

I saw the contact info from another search on this Forum to ask Apple for help via e-mail. They responded pretty quickly (within 30 min).
I did not realize there was one password that was sent only to be used to open/reveal a second password (in a pdf in the first e-mail) that u actually use on th eApp store for the upgrade. Kind of confusing but I see what I did wrong now.
It did work and is now downloading.
    So, (hopefully) problem solved.
    Nice Forum!
