how can i make downloaded files visible or search for them?
i tried spotlight and osx search. nothing there.
i downloaded a couple of files with igetter 2.5 yesterday, and i can see that i downloaded them in its history. the history in igetter shows me exaxtly what i downloaded, but the file location is "file not found". i specified an empty folder at the desktop called "igetter" and watched him downloading the 1 or 2 GB. it took 2h to dl.
i didnt see anything in the download folder at the desktop and thought lets wait an hour, and watched igetter download all the files, each on after another.
what can i do now?
i can download again, but the disc space is occupied and it must
be somewhere yes? i wonder

is there any way i can find out which size my disc had yesterday alltogether?
than i can compare. and if 2GB are added it must be somewhere.

If you are looking to rid the App from your "purchased" list, it cannot be removed...but you CAN hide it:
Open the App Store on your device
Tap on "Purchased" at on the bottom row
Find the App you want to hide
Tap/drag the App to the left where a "Hide" button will emerge
Tap the "Hide" button to hide the App
To UN-hide the hidden App, you need to do so under your account settings using iTunes on your syncing PC

I downloaded foreign language mp3's to my iPad and iPod nano and cant find either one of them on the device even though they both claim to be there under "other" memory when I plug them into my computer. Any advice on how to find these files on my iPad/iPod device?

I put them in iTunes and then dragged them to my devices. On my iPad it looked like it put it under the 'purchased' tab but I looked in the music app and purchased tab and still cant fine them anywhere. Can you give a few more details on what you're seeing and not seeing?
Can you see the songs listed in iTunes? With the sidebar enabled (CTRL-S in iTunes 11 if you can't see it) do your see your purchased songs listed if you select Purchased under STORE? Something like this:
If you see a list like this, right-click on one of the songs and select Get Info / Summary tab. It should show the location of the file containing the song:
(the default location will be C:\Users\user_name\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_name). I'm assuming that you're not seeing this, since anything that's under Purchased should also be in your main library (Music under LIBRARY at the top of the sidebar) and you should be able to copy it into playlists, etc.
If you don't see this, can you find the music files on your computer? Again, the files should be under C:\Users\user_name\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_name if you're following iTunes defaults and allowing it to organize your library. Even if that's not the case you can run Windows Explorer and search your whole computer, using the name of the song or just *.m4a as the search string. If you can find the music files but they are not listed in iTunes, you can re-import your songs into iTunes (File > Add file to Library ... or File > Add Folder to Library ...).
If you still can't find them, either in iTunes or on the computer, you may still have two options. The first would apply if you have the songs on an iPod or iPhone, the second would be to re-download (not re-purchase) from the iTunes store. You'll find tutorials in these forums for both cases. At the end of the day, though, you're encountering a problem that would be more readily addressed if you'd been maintaining a regular backup of your iTunes library.

The desktop was rebuild too, not the same anymore and all aliases gone.

I suspect you didn't back up your data before the update - that would have been your first insurance. At the least, you could have saved your most important documents. I realize you probably don't want to hear that, but it's a good way to avoid problems.
It would be great to get a few answers:
1. What did you update? Was it a software update, a firmware update, or something else?
2. Do you use external drives? Or is it just the HD on your MBP?
3. Why did you "rebuild" the desktop?
Provide as much detail as you can.

I'm sorry you've lost files, but when you set up an account as Guest, there's a message that clearly states "When a guest user logs out, all information and files in the guest account's home folder are deleted". If you want an account where files are retained, you should create an Admin or Standard type.
You will need to use data recovery techniques to see if your file can be recovered. The more that you use your computer, the greater the risk that the file will be overwritten. You can contact a professional data recovery service such as DriveSavers (which will be expensive, but you can judge the value of the file) or try something like Data Rescue. The latter has a demo which you can install to determine if your file can be recovered, and then, on purchase, you can actually recover the file.

You should ALWAYS make sure that everything is on your computer and backed up, most especially before any update. The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly.

1. Yes, if both drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
2. Reformat the drives if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and remove the drive with the pictures from the list of items set to be excluded.

Apple keeps books for a short time (used to be 40 days. I've not seen a recent time frame)
What version did you have?
Books do nor exist except in the iPhoto database so you can not "find" a book vista TM. You restore a previous library (be sure NOT to overwrite your current library) and switch to it

Maybe the "iTunes Music" folder is hidden.
Please open Terminal and issue the following command
ls -ladO /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music
you should get a line similar to this
drwxrwxrwx 13 yourusername staff hidden 442 12 Mar 21:49 /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
Numbers, date and time may differ.
If you see hidden then the folder is hidden. To unhide "iTunes Music", in Terminal issue the following command
chflags nohidden /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music

Do you know the name of any of the files you are looking for? Do you have a Time Machine backup? Can you search (using spotlight) for any of these files?
Any chance they were in the trash when you started the update? Any chance they were on an external drive which is NOT plugged in at this time?

My ipod recently stopped syncing all of my games. The message says that itunes cant find them when they are where they always were. Can anyone help me with this issue? I have tried uninstalling everything and then reinstalling and nothing works. Three of my fourteen games will not sync, and they are the ones that I play the most.

Try rebooting your computer to see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, use the Get Info window for these games to determine where they should be located on your PC. Then navigate out to that location to see if they are actually still there.
