Downloaded files being overwritten

The browser (Firefox Browser for Android 20.0.1) itself is great, but I have one problem. When I download a file (and I do this rather often) after closing browser and opening it again, Firefox starts to re-download the same file. It wouldn't be a problem if the file which has been already downloaded earlier wasn't being overwritten.
But it often happens that instead of the full file, ie 460mb, I discover that my file is incomplete, of a size of several kbs. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

  • Files being overwritten

I just upgraded to Dreamweaver CS3 from MX 2004. I have the
following enabled for my site definition: Maintain synchronization
information; Enable file check in and check out; and Check out
files when opening. The problem is, every time I open a file
locally, it automatically and instantaneously gets overwritten by
the remote file. This did not happen with MX 2004, and this has
caused many problems for me. Is this supposed to be happening, or
do I have a problem here? I've tried disabling Maintain
synchronization information, but this doesn't change anything. Any
and all help is greatly appreciated.

If you are using checkin/checkout, the remote site is the
    gold standard for
all checked-in files. Thus, overwriting your local copy is of
    no
consequence, since you cannot have made changes to the file
    after it has
been checked in. It would be unnecessary for DW to ask if you
    want to
overwrite it, because DW assumes that you know it will be
    overwritten by
virtue of the fact that you have just initiated a checkout
    operation. Get
    it?

Your understanding as expressed in the first two sentences is
    absolutely
    correct.
If your co-worker checks out a file, you cannot check it out
    until it's
properly checked in by your co-worker. Once the file is
    checked in, you can
    then check it out.

  • New files being overwritten by FTP cache

I have Dreamweaver set up to connect to my ftp server; there are about 100 sites in my /sites/ directory that I access to make changes to.
On one site, whenever I open a file and edit it, all of the related files on the server are overwritten with old files being pulled from *somewhere* when I save the file.
I'm guessing Dreamweaver has a cache of files from the FTP connection that it's pulling from; my question: How do I either a) disable caching or b) update the local files?
And telling me to set each individual site up in DW is not helpful - there are just too many sites, that's why I use the FTP connection to pull the files I need directly.

  • Project files being overwritten in Captivate 5

When we create a new project in Captivate 5 and save it we do the following:  "File", "Save As" and choose our preferred location which happens to be a folder on the local desktop.  The next project we create and save we go through the same process but, of course, change the name of the file.  The problem we are having is that it overwrites the previous file and we never end up with more than one captivate file in that folder at a time.  The previous files are overwritten and gone.  Is there a setting that I am unaware of that is causing this or do I need to open a support ticket?  Anyone encounter this previously?

In my first days of playing around with CP5 I lost all files in a folder into which I saved the CP5 project (I had to restore all of them from a backup that I -thanks god- created just before that).
Then I created a separate folder dedicated only for CP5 project files and published files. Since then no files have been lost - but I don't know the reason why.
So I'm also very interested in some detailed information on when files are deleted from the target folders by saving or publishing CP5 projects.

  • Why are downloaded files being hidden?

    OS X 10.6.8
Some files that I download from the internet are being hidden by the os.  At first I thought that maybe the difference is that some .pdf files are protected but after review it is not just protected .pdf's being hidden from view it's non-protected .pdf's and some .jpg's too... I just noticed this happening over the past month or so.  I also considered that it happened after an acrobat update but that wouldn't explain the hidden .jpg's. All file type associations appear to be normal, I have tried reassociating .pdf file types, etc and back to no avail.  I dunnno', Any ideas?

    I tried:
    chflags nohidden -R ~/Downloads
it gave me an error message:
"-R no such file or directory"
    So I tried:
    chflags nohidden ~/Downloads
I got no error messages but it didn't help
It does seem random in the sense that some images and pdf's downloaded from the internet are not hidden (most of them aren't) but quite a few images and pd's are hidden on download.  So far it only seems to be pdf's and image files (of all types) that
    1. have been downloaded from the internet
    2. through the chrome browser
    3. within the past few months
The pdf's were all downloaded from various sites, some are protected content (printing and edit disabled) but free to download.  The images (memes, charts or infographics) were downloaded from various sites some downloaded off of facebook...
I'm not finding a rhyme or reason to it.

  • UCCX 7.1 Holiday.xml file being overwritten with older file

I'm administering a UCCX server v7.1 in which the holiday.xml file in the wfaavid\documents\user directory keeps resorting to an older holiday.xml file after I manually copy an updated file into the directory. When I initially copy the file over, our Contact Center identifies the holidays fine. I find each holiday there after, an older version of the file with older dates appears. So I have to manually copy the file to the directory again that holiday morning. I'm assuming the switch occurs before hand but not sure when or why. Is there another directory I'm missing that I should be copying the updated file too? Or is there another explanation that is causing this issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.

That local directory is overwritten by the document in the repository (in the database).
That's working as designed.  You'll need to leverage the web page AppAdmin to update your XML file, or do it from within a script with the Upload Document step.  Those are the only two supported methods.

  • Variable being overwritten in the Variable Substitution (File Adapter)

  • Is there any way to prevent fields from being overwritten when importing data via xdp-file?

In an pdf-form designed with LCD everytime the form gets merged with an xdp-datafile content of all fields get overwritten, regardless which data-binding (normal, global, none) is assigned to the fields and regardless if the fields are exluded in the xdp-datafile. Is this normal behavior and is there any way to prevent fields from being overwritten?

The xdp-file is first exported from Acrobat Professional 8 (export data as *.xdp) to get the complete structure. Then in the xdp-file some fields are removed manually and other fields are filled with data. When the modified xdp-file is opened again with Acrobat Professional 8 it grabs the original pdf-form and merges the manually filled fields into the form. With the merge all other fields in the form are overwritten, even if they are not defined in the xdp-file. And that is what I want to avoid. I want to merge the xdp-file into the form and keep the data in fields not defined in the xdp-file.

  • I purchased an album, and all but two songs downloaded, and says file being processed. It has been 1.5 hours.

I purchased an album, and all but two songs downloaded successfully. It says files being proccessed. It has been 1.5 hours.

    Hello James Dean,
I would be eager to download the complete album I purchased as well.  I found a couple of resources that might help with downloading this purchase.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted.  You can use the steps in this article:
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1725
If the remaining songs do not download after following the steps in that article, I recommend trying to download the songs from your list of past purchases.  As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the movie, you will not be charged again.  You can find the steps to do this in the following articles:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12283
iTunes 11 for Windows: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12491
If you are still not able to download the songs, I recommend reporting this issue to the iTunes Store:
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1933
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How can I unblock a file being downloaded?

When I try to download files such as skype from the internet when I click save file as instructed, it blocks the download, if it does download it I can't click it in my documents to open and run the file. How do I unblock these downloads and allow them.
    == This happened ==
    Just once or twice

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
Do not forget to re-enable the scanning in your anti-virus software after you are finished with downloading and installing.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files (Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows)

  • Why are active menus and dialog boxes disappearing/being overwritten by the active tab/page content?

Frequently when selecting a download directory/filename in the "save to" dialog the entire dialog is overwritten with the active page content. It appears the dialog has closed, but if you tab through the dialog the active field/control is written but the rest of the dialog remains hidden/overwritten. This has also happened with the "open file" dialog. The the drop down menus on the menu bar are occasionally being overwritten after being activated/pulled down. I have not been able to determine a common/specific event causing this problem.

I seem to have fixed it by putting <div  class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

  • IPod seen by Windows, not downloading files ...

Tried the '5R' bit. Didn't help. Let me see if I can explain.
    * Purchased iPod for my wife for Christmas a month+ ago
    * Downloaded iTunes and created a fairly large library of MP3 files from our CD collection. Use iTunes regularly on Windows, no problem.
    * Got the iPod out of the box today, and followed directions.
    * Plugged it in.
    * iTunes sees it, entered information for iPod name, did registration stuff. [NOTE: each time I plug the iPod in and iTunes sees it, it brings up the "Setup Wizard", which is kind of pointless ...]
    * It said it was updating the iPod. It showed it was copying the library file by file.
    * It copied the files not to the iPod, but to: C:\iPod_Control in a folder there (they MP3 files in the library are in a folder called "C:\MP3s" and stored in folders there for individual CDs). This now doubles the disk space used on the harddrive, but also did not copy the files to the iPod itself.
Suggestions? What did I do wrong? Is it me, the software, what?
When I plug the iPod in, it is seen by iTunes. It shows the library of files, but in that other folder. How do I know? I go to the iPod menu, select "Settings" and "About" and it shows zero songs, zero videos and zero pictures (have no videos or pictures set for download, just trying to be complete). Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Thanks. The problem appears to be that the iPod was not being recognized by Windows as a drive. I had to go do some weird jumping through hoops. The computer wanted to map it as drive 'J:' which had a reference to my hard drive that had been mapped for my network -- am not quite sure why. But I could not get the computer to assign as any other drive letter (I am sure it's something I've just forgotten). Anyway, once I unmapped the drive 'J:' mapping, suddenly the iPod showed up as drive J: and I was able to start downloading files to it. I am still doing it, but I think it's working. I should note that I had previously deleted the iPod folder that I mentioned in the first post first. As noted, it apepars to be working, so we'll see. Thanks!

  • SmartView 11.1.2 install being overwritten by previous uninstalled version

I am not sure how to explain this but my SmartView 11.1.2 install is being overwritten by the previous uninstalled version (11.1.1.3).
On our Windows 2008 server 32bit with all SPs installed, we had 11.1.1.3 installed and we uninstalled it. We then removed the c:\hyperion directory. We rebooted and then installed smartview 11.1.2.0 which appears to go to the c:\oracle\product\smartiew directory.
When the first new user logs in and opens Excel, a small program starts to run and SmartView 11.1.2.0 gets configured and Excel shows an "Smart View" tab.
Everything is fine until a user who previously was using Smartview 11.1.1.3 launches Excel... When they launch Excel it starts an installer which recreates the c:\hyperion directory and installs 11.1.1.3 and then Excel opens with a "Hyperion" tab.
The new users that previously had never used 11.1.1.3 are are still in 11.1.2.0 until they close Excel. The next time they open it they no longer have the 11.1.2.0 SmartView Tab but instead have the 11.1.1.3 Hyperion Tab.
Has anyone ever seen this before and/or have any ideas on how to stop it?

Note: I redid my steps one more time. The 11.1.2.0 version installs by default to c:\oracle\smartview not c:\oracle\product\smartview.
Also, I searched the entire server for .msi & .exe files and may have found the culprit. After running the following & selecting uninstall it appears I may have 11.1.2.0 working for all users:
    c:\Windows\Installer\ab630db.msi dated 7/30/2010 3:59pm author: Oracle Size: 7.223KB.
Edited by: Mike W on Sep 7, 2010 4:42 AM to denote status...
Edited by: Mike W on Sep 8, 2010 8:48 AM This may be resolved as finding the ab630db.msi may have cleared it up.
