Downloaded films not playing

i have skygo on my iPad and I downloaded a lot of films for the kids to watch when we go to the caravan. When we arrived (in the middle of nowhere, with no internet connection) it wouldn't play any of the downloaded content because there was no connection, is this not the idea of downloading content? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I always get the message unless I'm home with internet connection. Can you please help?

It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:

Open iTunes
Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
Choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab.
The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
If so, then delete the songs:

Im having a similar promblem! Only its doesnt work on my Itunes library and the song ends at 49 seconds. Have you fixed your problem yet?

ITunes downloads will not play on my PC . . .

but they will play on my iPad2 through iCloud. There are no errors next to the songs and the downloads were successful--but I can only play them on the one device. The biggest issue is I want to download them onto my shuffle for running--and I have to do that from my laptop, which will not play the songs.

How/where are you trying to play the film ? If you've downloaded it on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to play the complete film from the Movies part of your iTunes library. If you've downloaded it on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch then it should be in the Videos app.

If this is on your iPad then you've tried closing the Videos app via the taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
And/or tried a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If neither of those work, then depending upon what country that you are in (films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the filme from the Videos app and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download films or if it re-downloads with the same problem then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

Film not playing smoothly on quicktime!

I am hoping someone can help me as i am out of ideas of how to solve my problem!
I have exported a film it is 2 mins long with the first min being a slide show of photos with tilts and pans. When i first exported it the first minute when played on quicktime were jumping. Not at the same point but at random times. I downsized the photos on photoshop and this helped it but they still are not perfect. The rest of the film was playing fine. I then decided it might help if i export the photos as a separate film and then reimport it. Again this helped but they are still not playing perfectly on quicktime for some reason. Any ideas for what i could do? I have put the res down too much already so i cant down size them anymore.
Now when i play the video on quicktime the last half of the film is jumping in the same way as the photos were. I have tried it on VLC player and it works fine but it has to be played on quicktime for a client so i really need this to work on quicktime. I have tried exporting it as many different formats and reducing the bit rate but still the same thing is happening.
I really need some sort of clue to what is going on and how to solve this problem as i am out of knowledge and ideas!

I am using premiere pro to create the slideshow. I import the jpeg then i add motion via the effects tab by key framing. These jpegs go into the same sequence settings as i listed above and are exported as a .MOV in the H264 Codec bit rate is 8,223 and 25 FPS .

I used quick time 10 to play the film. I also have version 7 but i want it to play on the 10 as this is the version my client has.
That is a good idea but i still have the same problem with both films played separately. It is difficult to determine what is causing it as it is unpredictable where it jumps and for how long for.

My sequence settings are as follows:
Editing mode: DSLR, 25FPS, 1080X 1920, Codec: MPEG I FRAME.
The software I am editing on is Premiere Pro CS6.
The photos are JPEGS and the films are .MOV, 1080 x1920 at 25 FPS.
Not a Premier user, so your settings (DSLR and MPEG I FRAME) are somewhat confusing to me.
The JPEGS started out as roughly 3,000 pixels large and 300 dpi. This made the video jump a lot. So i took them into photoshop and reduced the pixel dimensions to the closest possible i could to the 1920x 1080 format my film is to be in. I cant remember what each indiviual JPEG was as they were all different but roughly speaking I set them to around 1500 - 2000 pixels and 72 dpi. This certainly helped the jumping but didn't stop it all together.
The slide show has no text. It is old black and white photographs from the 1920's . I should also say that when i reduced the distance that the pans and tilts has to travel this helped the jumping. it seems to be where there is movment over the still images the film jumps in quicktime.

If you are changing both dimensions and the resolution reference in Photoshop, then it sounds like you are doing everything correctly here. However, am not sure about your use of the term "key framing." Are you referring to the use of "key" frames to initiate/modify motion effects or the use of "key frames" to insert additional I-frames to improve the rendering of motion effects? The use of an excessive number of I-frames can change the allocation of data between intra- and inter-frames if the target data rate is left unchanged—sort of a "rob Peter to pay Paul" situation. E.g., if too much data is "borrowed" from the "difference" frames, then the motion transitions may cause playback to become jerky in the same way that "dropped frames" during playback would. In this case, you may wish to try an increase in the target data rate for the file to see if it provides a smoother rendering during photo "slideshow" playback. (Am assuming here that your MPEG-4 AVC exports are a minimum Main Profile @ Level 3.1 allowing data rates up to 14 Mbps in which case I would likely try a target setting of about 10 Mbps for testing.)
That is a good idea but i still have the same problem with both films played separately. It is difficult to determine what is causing it as it is unpredictable where it jumps and for how long for.
Suggestion was to test whether the problem was caused by sourced content encoding or the process of "merging" the different types of content. Recommend you reprocess the photos in Photoshop at 72 dpi reference (if not already doing so) to appropriate resolutions and then reprocess the results in Premier to see what happens.
You mentioned VFR- is there a setting i should be aware of for this- can you explain this to me in a bit more depth what is that? I thought the FR is set to 25 and it sticks to 25 unless i select another frame rate?
you mentioned at the end of your reply that it could be data rates or frame rate issues- what would you suggest to solve this problem?
Not familiar with settings available in Premier. Was referring to the use of VFR strategy to eliminate duplicate frames. I.e., if you were exporting photos as stationary "slideshows" rather than using motion effects like Ken Burns, then the elimination of duplicate frames might reduce the data rate requirements associated with "slideshow" exports in "video" compression formats. QT is programmed to skip frames if it is unable to keep up with data throughput—which is most frequently the primary source of jerky playback.

TS1424 itunes download does not play

I recently bought an album on itunes and 3 of the songs do not play.

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

Amazing Spiderman movie download does not play, what's up with that?

I bought the "Amazing Spiderman" movie in iTunes; it will not play on my Mac Pro. A version of it did start on my ipad(3) wanted to finish on my Mac but all I get is a black iTunes window with controls and everything, but it will not play. They still haven't updated Apple support pages to reflect Mountain Lion (10.8.2).
Oh, other movies that I have bought or ripped seem to work fine.

Why will my newly downloaded audiobook not play?

I downloaded Vultures Picnic as an audiobook in Itunes store. It downloaded but it will not play.

From my experience, audio books can be played from the iPad directly, or exported from your computer (which is your situation). You can do this through iTunes, though I imagine external software can be used.
I'd suggest opening iTunes, loading the book, and syncing. Presuming the setup is good, the transfer should be easy.

TS1362 Songs on an album downloaded do not play, either in full or part...

I downloaded an entire album off of iTunes and only some of the songs will play in full. The others will either play for a minute or less, and then skip directly to the next track. I only noticed this after burning the album to a disc so I could listen ot it in the car. What can I do to fix this problem? I was really excited to hear this artist's album.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

Purchased and downloaded a movie yesterday (have confirmation email of purchase). Able to watch movie once. Tried to watch again, but received message "You do not have permission to access the requested resource". Why am I getting message if I have proof of purchase?

3G - 2.0.2 update - downloaded music not playing?

Has anyone else had this problem?
We updated both of our 3G's last night, and after the update on the second one when you go into the ipod, then play a song, not a single tune comes through the speakers. Same if you plug in headphones. The song's look like they're playing on the screen, but you can't hear anything...the first 3G is fine.

I've had the same exact problem. Yesterday (Wed afternoon), I went from one dowloaded song to another, and I got nothing. Just silence. Thought it was my speakers until I checked them and they were fine. And by accident, I noticed that the music I took off of CD's I own and loaded into my computer play.
I just can't get any music that I bought from iTunes to play, period. The cover art comes up, get an indication that it's "playing," but no sound whatsoever. I went home last night and synced again with iTunes and still I can't hear any of the songs I downloaded.
I got the phone last Sat and I'm going to a retail store on Sat for a workshop, so I figure worst comes to worst an Apple employee helps me out on this.
But I hate only having 6-8 songs to listen to.

BMW Short Films not playing on updated QT

I was wondering if anyone knows of a plug-in/codec that will allow the BMW short films to be played on the current version of QT. They used to play before I upgraded to QT 7.

In the QuickTime Player, look at the Quicktime Preferences, on the Advanced tab.
Make sure that the checkbox for "[ X ] Enable Flash" is checked. This allows QuickTime to play Flash tracks in QuickTime movies, which allows the controllers to play in the BMW films. For some strange reason, in QT-7, this is disabled by default. Quit QuickTime Player and relaunch the movie.
While you're at it, go to the MIME settings described elsewhere in this thread and disable QuickTime playback of Flash media. This prohibits QuickTime from trying to play Flash video, and allows Flash animations to play in the Flash player. The checkbox affects only QuickTime's ability to handle flash tracks in QuickTime movies, and that should be enabled. The MIME setting controls whether QuickTime should play Flash outside of a QuickTime movie, and that should be disabled because QuickTime does not support modern Flash.

I got this error so I googled it and was taken here, I have searched they the forum but no help. I am able to see my episode in the itunes folder but everytime I click on it to play it just downloads over and over again.
