Downloaded Firefox, cannot open because it says I am offline, and need to change, cannot do this without opening browser.

I got a notice that my Firefox was outdated. I was using something earlier than 3.6.3. I downloaded v4.0.1, and followed instructions for installing. I closed every other application was using at the time. When I attempted to open Firefox, I got a message that it was in off-line mode, and needed to be changed. I cannot change mode of operation without its beng open. I am stuck. I have many things on my computer that is opened using Firefox, and they will not open, either. I do not know yet if I will have all my old bookmarks.

Doesn't Firefox start even in offline mode?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

That does happen. It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system. If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

You can't install the App Store version of Mavericks because your model needs a special version. If you ever need to reinstall it, boot into Recovery.

There is nothing you can do about but ask the seller for your money back. Without the previous owners applid password, you cannot activate and use that device - there is no way around that. iOS 7's Activation Lock needs to be disabled by the previous owner in order for you to use it - if they cannot (or willnot) produce the password to disable it, you have no options.
They can disable it remotely for you - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5661 but not if they do not remember their own password.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Download firefox, use the save option rather than install.
Save it directly to the flash drive, or to somewhere on your computer and copy/move it the flash drive.
However if IE is not working possibly you have some sort of setup problem so firefox may not work either.

Since then no acces to apple id, not even via forgot my id site. It says that my apple id and birth date details do not match. Something is obviosly totally wrong. Got a visa card recently, is that the reason? Cannot get a new apple id with my real address as the systems says its already used. Pls help, I am vey frustated that this can happen.

Hi turingtest2 (you pass, BTW): Thanks for the speedy reply. MobileMe doesn't appear in the list of programs which can be uninstalled. I tried the link you suggest: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall but when I tried to "Run Now", I get the error message: " Troubleshooting cannot continue because an error has occurred... etc.... [code 80072F8F]" So googled this error & found a tool called (80072f8f) Repair Tool - I'm leery to download yet more stuff from non-microsoft sites -- any recommendations?

You use the Aperture iPhoto Browser to review iPhoto images and import specific images into the Aperture library. The iPhoto Browser gives you a handy way of looking for certain images without having to import your entire iPhoto library.
So, where do I review the iPhoto images...there is nothing in there that says "iPhoto Library" Everything I see pertains to Aperture Library which of course is empty since I haven't imported (or dragged) any photos in there yet.
Also is tech support available for Aperture? I have Apple Extended Support and I sure would love it if I had individual help. I have a deadline --3 days to edit 300 photos and I'm a complete amateur. iPhoto doesn't have the capability to erase parts of a face (I need to contour the neck of a mannequin to make it proportionate to the separate head I put on top of it. no, i had to leave so i logged out and when i opened itunes on my mac and went into the downloads tab it only had one paused download listed. i resumed the download for the one movie listed and the other one never showed up. its been about two weeks since i initially bought the two movies so i figured something was wrong.
