Downloaded IOS update and now my phone is dead and won't come on. Any suggestions?
Now I have the phone on and I can see the screen (held down the power and home buttons), but "slide" won't work so I can use the phone.

So the lock button on my iPhone 4 is broken, 100%, and the battery died earlier today, when I plug it in, it usually turns on if it has been dead...I tried doing this for hours and nothing happened, I plugged it into 3 different chargers thinking that might be the problem. And since there isn't a apple store close to me, I went to AT&T and they told me I need to do some type of restart (I forget what it's called) it is where you hold down the home and lock button at the same time, but as you can see that wont work since my lock button Is broken. Is there ANYTHING else I can do to fix it!?
Looks like a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...

I had the same problem with my iPad and my Phone. Reset the phone ( Hold down the button on the front while holding the power button until it turns off) Plug in the charge lead and it will come back on charging. (Worked for me) The only way to see it is charging seems to be to look at the battery percentage after a while.

Wifi keeps scanning and dropping even after connected to home network. Never had this issue until the update, and now my phone runs slow and terrible. Horrible update!! Any ideas on a fix?
It's important that you have a steady WiFi connection, ZealousEdge. What phone do you have? Is your phone unable to connect to any WiFi network? If you can, please try deleting the saved WiFi network and re-adding it.

So I tried Installing iOS 8.3 onto my iPhone 6+, updated iTunes to the latest version, 12.1.2, downloaded the update for the phone, connected my phone - it detected fine like it always does. When I tried installing, it went to about halfway or so and then iTunes said there was a problem updating the phone.
The phone icon disappeared from iTunes and when I checked the phone it was giving the blank screen. I tried turning it off and on again... It showed the apple logo, and then the connect to itunes icon, but iTunes is not detecting it.
Even if I take it out and put it back in again, even with the hard reset holding the home and power buttons. I'm running Windows 8.1. So far I've tried the hard reset, cleaning the connector pins, switching to a a different USB port, reinstalling iTunes, checking to see if the Apple Mobile Device software is up to date, even using a previous restore point in windows.
The device makes a noise when it gets plugged in, indicating that it's being detected by the computer, but iTunes... nothing. And my phone is stuck on showing the connect to iTunes picture and it's bricked and unusable and I'm wondering why I even bothered with this stupid update.Most of the recent updates showed the connect to iTunes screen for a short time. But if the update was done with the iOS device connected to the computer running iTunes, the Connect to iTunes screen appeared only briefly then the update completed. If your iPhone didn't complete the update you will have to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode. Follow the steps very carefully in the link below. You might have to try several times to get your phone into Recovery Mode.

you may put your device in dfu mode then connect it to itune ,after that there may be a message come up and say you have to restore your device. Restore your device to 5.1.1 then when you finish update it from itune not from your device directly.

You can't get the phone working without the correct password, because the previous owner activated Find My iPhone and Activation Lock. In order to unlock the phone you would have to ocntact the previos owner of the phone. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get it working again.

What do I do now? When the update was offered when i was syncing the phone with the computer, so I followed the prompt. Now it has an apple icon on a black background and i cannot turn it off, on or anything....
Mine did the same thing and when I did what Brad805 said above it worked....but like I said above if you have antivirus software on your computer it may be stopping it from updating...I had to go into DFU mode but I had to use another computer that didnt have the antivirus software...but read Brads comment carefully because DFU will only work if you do it right and the screen like he says has to be black during the update, when I tried the first few times it was showing the iTunes and the USB symbol..you do not want that during the update as it will not finish, the screen has to be black...hope this helps as I know how frustrating it is I worked on my phone for 3 days trying to get it to work and finally Brad helped!

N73 UPDATE FAILED AND NOW THE PHONE IS DEAD
I started the software update but when it was almost at the end the connection broke down and the phone it was turned off. Now it won't turn back on. What is to be done? Please help me!!!
take your phone to the nearest nokia centre, as long as it is within warranty then they should be able to fix it or replace it, because as i beleive it is nokias fualt for creating insecure software that is unstable and should not even be made public if it kills phones.

Restore the phone from backup using iTunes. If that doesn't work, restore the phone as a new device. If you still have problems, then you likely have a hardware issue and will need to bring the phone to Apple for evaluation

Try DFU mode:
Plug your device into your computer.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode
NOTE: Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present
