Downloaded Latest iTunes version, Playlists missing
Sooo... I decided to go to iTunes.com and download the latest version. It told me there was an error loading my itunes library file. I went back to the new download file and tried again. Same error. So I manually did: FILE > ADD FOLDER TO LIBRARY, etc. Important to note is I have my song files/iTunes Library on an extenrnal harddrive... a K:/ drive.
The song files have returned but all of my playlists are gone. It wouldnt normally be a huge deal, but three of them were my iPad, my iPhone and my iPod... Pretty involved. Willing to do the work to recover from scratch... No luck in attempts to try an older version of iTunes, or to try to delete, repair or reinstall. Any advice? THANKS!
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I too cannot download latest itunes version. Apple needs to respond and fix what is certainly a software defect. Am seeing all of the same error messages including MSCVR80.dll is missing from computer. For Windows 7 a "Error 7 (Windows errror 126) appears. How do you get Apples's attention. It is impossible to link up with real support from their website?
Remove old Apple programs, and use Explorer web-browser. (Firefox or Chrome will not do)

Since you are trying to manually add content to your iPod Touch, have you double checked to make sure the Manually manage music and videos option is ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab?
If it's already ticked, what exactly happens when you try to drag the songs over to your iPod?

Downloading latest Itunes version
If I were download the required ITunes version, would that replace the old version that is currently on my computer? I guess basically I don't want to completley delete the old version with all the songs on there already..
Two separate questions:
1) You still have to "launch" the installer after downloading (don't do it through iTunes)
2) Upgrading/re-installing iTunes does NOT delete your local songs or library -

Your firewall or av software is screwing everything up.
Turn it off.
Straight from Apple:
Errors 3000-3999 (3002, 3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443. This may be because out-of-date or incorrectly configured security or firewall software is interfering, an old version of iTunes is installed, an entry in your hosts file redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see error 1004 above), or because of your Internet proxy settings. If you are using a proxy, try without using one or with a known-good network. If that does not resolve the issue, follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues. Error 3014 may indicate that you need to free up more disk space on the computer before trying to restore again. Error 3194 most likely indicates you do not have the latest version of iTunes installed Update to the latest version of iTunes.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -
I downloaded latest iTunes version and have been freezing ever since.
I have a lot of duplicate songs and was attempting to delete them, but iTunes keeps freezing when I attempt to uncheck or check on the songs in the duplicate list. Any thoughts.
Googling for a program would be best. There are so many different programs available that I wouldn't presume to suggest which might work best for you...
I personally use Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. -
Can't download latest iTune version on my PC with Vista 64bit. Old version blocks it. Error message: "......network resource that is unavailable" references "iTunes.msi" How do I remove old version?
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I have just downloaded the latest itunes version (11.0.1). All my data cannot now be located, though the library is showing all the correct content.The data is stored on an external hard drive. How do I tell the library where to find it's data?
The iTunes application should be installed on the system drive. You may need to repair iTunes to fix that error regarding a missing .exe.

If you don't have a working version of the library that can be transformed into a portable shape I have tools and techniques that can repair the broken links.

After latest iTunes version was downloaded my Ipod behaves strange
I have downloaded the latest iTunes version and I have the following 2 issues:
1. The artwork is not being updated correctly, a lot of songs are missing the artwork even if it shows on iTunes
2. Around 400 songs are getting duplicated, and I haven't been able to deleted them, I've tried to manually manage song, I've also tried un sync music and syncagain but nothing seems to work, after the ipod deletes and adds everythin, all 400 songs are still duplicated.
I want to try to restore the ipod but I will loose all other contacts, apps info, etc... Am i wrong?

ThanksCheck if all your songs, apps and other files are on iTunes Media folder. If not, try to set it all up inside that folder.

OK. If both of you are Windows 7. Make sure you go to Windows update (START button, type in Windows Update). Check for updates and update whatever that are available. (especially Microsoft .NET Framework 4 )
After that see if you still get this error message.
The last resort would be to unistall and reinstall the whole thing.
Follow the steps below:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

That message is usually a sign that you tried to roll back to an earlier build of iTunes, but occasionally I've seen it connected to a new upgrade. This technique should fix things.

Hi there, got 3 issues at once....
1) can't download the latest itune version onto my PC (it simply stops, not even an error message)
2) can't access the itune store and in order to fix this i need the latest version - catch 22!
3) one of my ipods isn't recognised by itune, nit sure if because of the earlier problems?
