Downloaded multilingual spell checks on Mac PowerPC G5

I have a Mac PowerPC G5 connected to the internet, and a separate PowerPC G4 that I use separate from the internet, connecting to the first PC only through diskettes, DVDs, or flash data storage.
I use the latter PC to write my preliminary work before transferring it to a PC that (despite the firewall) can be hacked. (I have reason to believe that it has been hacked.)
I downloaded the spell check software for Hebrew, Arabic, Greek, and Latin. I have found the files for the spell check software in the Downloads folder, but do not know where to transfer them so that I can use them in my Office (Word, etc.) and Nisus files.
Also, I would like to transfer them to my disconnected PC. Can that be done.
Please help.

Here is the bit confusion, modem is connected on which slot of the Router? Here is the connectivity first of all connect the Comcast modem to the Router on the Internet port and then connect the computer with any one of the Ethernet port of the Router [Numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4] then the light status on the Router as well as check the IP address…
You can find your IP address from the Mac System Preferences:
From the Apple menu pull down “System Preferences”
Click on the “Network” preference pane
Your IP address will be visible to the right
Let me know what information that you get in that window….

  • Multilingual spell check support in WYSIWYG element.

    Hi All,
I am using site studio for creating a website where author can contribute in many languages.
i wanted to know whether WYSIWYG provide any support for multilingual spell check.
if yes how we can enable it.
    please help........
    Thanks
    Somesh

    Hi Somesh,
you are right - it is a feature of the WYSIWYG editor. Site Studio may use two: FCKeditor (default) or Ephox Edit Live - see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10614/e02_considerations.htm#SSMAN259
Either of them has an option for spell checker - see http://docs.cksource.com/FCKeditor_2.x/Developers_Guide/Configuration/Spell_Checker (it has an option to use IE's checker, though) and http://ephox.com/editlive
I could not find information if it is available in other languages. I'd recommend you to contact these companies directly as these are 3rd party products.

  • Pages spell check and Mac dictionary

I find it annoying that Pages' spell-check is not synchronized with Mac Dictionary/Thesaurus. There are words I type that are shown as misspelled, but exist in the Dictionary program. Why not sync the two? It's annoying how many legitimate words Pages thinks are misspelled.

    bk,
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I completely agree. OS X's dictionary and thesaurus are excellent, and it would be nice to have them integrated into Pages spell-check and learned words functions.
Please leave feedback for the Pages team.

  • Pages for iPad - multilingual spell check

Is there any way to spell check multiple languages in Pages for the iPad (or the iWork apps in general, for that matter), short of changing the system language every time?
I routinely write in English, German and French. In most apps, including Mail, SMS and Notes, spell-checking automatically adapts to the keyboard layout chosen, and multilingual typing is a breeze. Not so in iWork, it seems.
I am currently working on a German document in Pages on my iPad, and the only way I could get usable spell-checking was to switch the whole system to German, which seems like overkill.
    Am I missing something?

No, you are not missing anything. The last version of iWork for iOS (1.4) is out today, but still has the same problem. Send feedback to Apple and make yourself heard here in the forums. Maybe they'll notice.
I have the exact same problem. My solution is, unfortunately, not to use Pages on the iPad. Every other word processing app I know of uses the language of the selected keyboard to check the spelling.
The irony is, iOS already has a beautiful system to handle documents in many languages, with all the necessary keyboards and dictionaries. The only apps that do not make use of all that are the ones from Apple...

  • Spell Check in Mac doesn't know the simplest words

I came into Mac 5 years ago still waiting for a decent 'Spell Ck'.
For example, 'unexceptable', and spell check didn't have a clue if spelled wrong or right.
I've been hitting 'learn' for years. Or forced to Google.
    I don't get it.
What the heck is out there that outdoes the PC version I had years ago?
Careless writing it wrong is no excuse anywhere.
    Thanks

Oh My, I opened that link and cracked up in .03 seconds.
I'll admit though, in here we are pretty lucky.
Out there, OOOooooo it's scary. Look at any YouTube page.
Something is in the water used for cool-aid.
I travel quite often to Europe.
From Germany to Sweden, I'm so impressed by the kids that not only learn the
disambiguation of our language, but speak clearly.
I feel bad, and a little embarrassed that at my age, it's tough to dedicate the time to learn a foreign language.
The poor gal in Germany in small village general store tried so hard to understand me.
I tried to explain I wanted hamburger for camping. Who knows how that came across.
I could not read one package on the shelfs. Even melk comes in grades I never saw before.
She came back with liter of motor oil.
Maybe she knew the Beamer out front is what I needed vs what I wanted.
I politely said thanks, and continued on tour with the oil.

  • Multilingual Spell Checker?

How does Mail know German words? I am using the US version of OS X.
I was answering an email someone sent from Germany so I answered it in German. What (pleasantly) surprised me is that Mail apparently switched the spell checker to German.
So it seems that Mail comes with spell checkers for multiple languages? If so, is there a way to switch the languages when composing a new email?
    Thanks much for your help
    Olaf

    Greetings,
Mac OS X supports a lot of different languages, and it does spellcheck in multiple languages, too.
If you want to compose an email in a different language, all you need to do is type your message in that language. If you want to spellcheck it in the language you're composing in while you're typing it, you need to choose Edit > Spellcheck and choose the language you'll be using from the dropdown menu of the spellcheck window first.

  • Grammar and spell check for mac user

    Hi I recently got IMAC 21'' with OS X 10.8.5 .
I used to use Grammarly and Ginger it software  in my previous window computer. For non english speaking person those softwares were very useful to edit  ritings and email. Can anyone suggest whether I can install and use in my microsoft word in IMAC.
If not,  are you aware about any  other software (spelling and  grammar checker)  which is compatible with OSX.
I miss the ginger it . I love this MAc computer but miss to use those software. Any suggestions.

You can download MS Office 2011 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for $140 from Microsoft.  You could also download Pages (the Apple analogue to Word that reads and writes Word formatted files) for $20.  Some people are choosing to use LibreOffice, which is free and duplicates almost all of the Office 11 features.  So you have several choices from expensive to free.

  • Disable/configure spell checking??

    Hi,
a short question about system-wide spell-checking in Mac OS X... can it be disabled?? i don't really understand how it came to it, but now several applications (e.g. Adium, Safari) keep underlining all words in red... not that i'm particularly bad at spelling, only they're all assuming i'm typing in german!! the only reason i can think of which may explain that is that i actually live in germany, and i've set it up somewhere in my system. but since i'm often typing in other languages as well, it's not really helpful... i've checked the preferences in adium, safari, as well as the system preferences, and i haven't been able to find how to change that...
anyone has an idea? it's getting kind of annoying... :-\
    thx a lot!
    Pagod

    Caitlin,
Thanks for your answer! Since then, I figured out that I could change those settings in about:config by selecting them and pressing enter.
By the way I installed the nightly Fennec build, and it seems more responsive than the Firefox-named release version. It doesn't support the Adblock plugin, so that may be reason enough to switch back to the 1.0 version.

  • Spell Check Doclet

Hi, i have downloaded the spell check doclet and have also changed the batch file to suit my needs. But the problem is i dont see any output file getting created even when i run the batch command through the command prompt. Can you please tell me the steps involved in using this doclet?
    Thanks in advance.

  • We get paid with cheques and organise specialised coloured aluminium. I can not rid my mac book pro or my IMac of the american spell checker.

We get paid with cheques and organise, specialised coloured aluminium. I can not rid my apple devices, mac book pro, desktop IMac or IPhone of the american spell checker.
Everything, Numbers and Pages et al, always default back to US English. To cap it all we sell luminaires (yes this is a word used in our world of lighting design everyday) Mac and Microsoft always default - my docs have more words underlined in red that not. I once found a permanent solution for Microsoft that removed US english - and then the laptop died. Can anyone rid me of this irritation.

    GOT IT FIXED!  WOW!
I did better than filing a bug report.  I went to Apple support, chose chat support.  When it wanted $15 or was it $19 I filed an exemption which was a choice on the page, based on the fact that I recently upgraded to Yosemite.
Got the chat fellow and here we go!!!!  ;-)  First off he sent me this app so he could see my screen.  Then he had me do a few things  like move the system configuration folder to the desktop and repair permissions.  Then he had me reset the SMC and Pram.  Nothing helped, all the ghost computers still showed in the finder.
As a last resort he had me reset my Apple Airport Extreme.  Wala!  Ghost Computers GONE!  He said it was a combination of stuff but mainly it was the airport extreme when I installed Yosemite.  Something to do with my network.  We'll see if it holds or if the problem comes back but as of now there's no more ghost computers in the sharing part of the finder.
Thanks to all who offered suggestions.  I hope maybe this helps someone else.
    Allen

  • Mac: When I click on a misspelled word in the body of an email the spell checker defaults to first word in the email even if it already spelled correctly

The spell checker identifies incorrect spelled words, however when I right click or control click the word the spell checker only highlights in yellow the first word in the email and gives a dialog with the spelling and definition even though that word already correctly spelled. This is version 33.1 on my mac desktop running 10.10. Spell checking works properly if I use Safari.

    Help please
Jumped on my Mac tonight to right a report in Word (2011 for Mac), been using this before Xmas and in years past other Office for Mac versions. Never any problems with the spell check before i.e. red wiggly line appears so you can review or amend as necessary, but no red line tonight!

I am the only person who uses my Mac and I haven't changed any settings so I can not understand why this is happening now.
If anyone can help, please do as I miss my reb wijgly anb mi speling is rudish without ip!

  • Mac Mail v. 7.1 (1827) spell checker makes spelling suggestions that are MISSPELLED!

I haven't been able to find this anywhere on the web so far, so thought I would post it here.
I am running Mavericks (v10.9.1) on a Mac Book Pro 17" (Early 2011).
When typing in Mac Mail (or Pages, etc.), my auto-spell check frequently makes suggestions that are misspelled.  For example, I typed "availabillty", and the auto-checker suggested "AVAILABILTY"(!?!).  The correct spelling, of course, being AVAILABILITY.
This has happened several times before, and I just didn't document any of the other misspellings.  I will add others, if that makes a difference.
I've tried to find access to the library to make corrections to the internal misspellings, but cannot seem to find and assuming not accessible??
Please help!  This is an incredibly annoying problem, making the spell-checking functionality essentially worthless having to stop and "spell-check the spell-checker" everytime.

    Pedro,
Thanks, I apprecaite the info, but you did not address my question.  The links you provided just explained the basics of spell-checking and how to do things like "learn new words".  The do not provide any "information regarding what I'm trying to accomplish".
Perhaps I didn't explain my problem clearly enough:  My problem is there are INCORRECT suggestions being made by the Apple spell-checker (or whatever library it's using).  In other words, I'm spelling a word correctly, and the auto-spell-checker is suggesting incorrect spellings to my correctly spelled word.
What I'm trying to accomplish is getting misspelled words out of the auto-correction library (and also figure out how they got in there in the first place).  Is there a way to edit the existing words in the spell-checking library (not just adding new ones, as the link you provided pointed out).
    Thanks,
    Dan

Install Snow Leopard on another boot partition, or upgrade Microsoft Office to a newer version, or use any number of better alternatives. Some of them are free.
    Consider
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
    NeoOffice ($10)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft.
