Downloaded podcast files not moved to recycle bin when deleted.

I have iTunes running on two computers (home and work) both running Windows XP SP2. On my work computer, of which I am an administrator, when I right click on a downloaded podcast and select "Clear", I get a prompt asking me about moving the file to the recycle bin or keeping the files. Every time I see this, I select "Move to recycle bin" but nothing happens. There's a slight pause, like iTunes is trying to move the file, but the files are never moved. The entry in my podcast list is removed but if I go to the iTunes Music \ podcast folder, there they are.
This does not happen on my computer at home. The files are actually deteled on that computer. What am I doing wrong???
Thanks!

I don't think you're doing anything wrong!
I had just deleted to Recycle Bin a whole bunch of podcast this morning, and after I read your post, I checked my PC.
It deleted about 30 and left 3.
Looks buggy to me!

  • Recycle Bin when deleted

    Hi
I discovered one strange thing at one of my costumers, we enabled AD recycle bin a year ago when we were running Windows 2008 R2 all good :-)
Two weeks ago I replaced the 2008 R2 DC's with 2012 R2 DC's and today I discovered that the "when deleted" date have changed for all deleted
objects, it was set to the day I replaced the DC's.
It no problem just a little bit strange

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
The Active Directory Recycle Bin in Server2012r2 isn't enabled by default.
When you delete an object, it's saved based on the information in the msDS-deletedObjectLifetime
    attribute.
By default, the msDS-deletedObjectLifetime attribute is set to match the forest's tombstoneLifetime attribute.
So you could refer to the attribute.
    Regards.

  • Referenced files not moved into system trash when emptying Aperture trash

I check the checkbox for "Move referenced files to system trash", but instead of moving them Aperture deletes them immediately.
Anyone else having this? My referenced files are on an external drive.

You might have permissions problems with the trash on the external drive. If you delete a file on the external but outside of Aperture does it work OK?
OS X will immediately delete files if the trash file is not accessible for some reason.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    Or If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk.

  • Video Podcasts NOT being sent to Recycle Bin on deletion...

    Hi,
I've long been having trouble with deleting my video podcasts. Since version 6 at least I've been unable to send vodcasts straight to the recycle bin...choosing this option only leads to a couple of seconds of iTunes stalling, removing the podcast from the screen, but leaving it in the iTunes Music folder.
When I first noticed this issue I found that MPEG-4 Movie's (.mp4) deleted fine, but this isn't the case anymore. They now join both MPEG-4 Video File's (.m4v) & Quicktime Movie's (.mov) in not being moved to the recycle bin when told to.
I've checked this on a friends MAC and there's absolutely no issue there - it's clearly just a Windows issue. I've seen a few other threads about this over the years, but no resolution...is there one? Does Apple even know this issue exists?
    Shane.

    Thanks for the reply Pamela.
I've reset all my dialogue warnings, but I don't think that's the problem. All my audio podcasts delete to the recycle bin fine, it's just the vodcasts that don't go where they're told. I always get the option to "Cancel", "Move To Recycle Bin" or "Keep File".
I have however discovered that the problem only occurs with vodcasts I've recently watched. If I watch one, close iTunes, then re-open iTunes and delete it, it goes to the recycle bin straight-away. Unwatched (i.e. new, not just "marked unwatched") vodcasts are also fine.
    What's going on here?

  • I was trying to restore my itouch and when i pressed "restore" and then pressed "restore and update", another sign popped up saying "The ipod "ipod" could not be restored. The disk you are attempting is full. Removing files and empty the recycle bin

i was trying to restore my itouch because it showed on my itouch the itunes bar on top and the charger on bottom so i went on itunes and when i pressed "restore" and then pressed "restore and update", another sign popped up saying "The ipod "ipod" could not be restored. The disk you are attempting is full. Removing files and empty the recycle bin will free up additional space. What do I do?!?!?! please help me ASAP

    Hi
I followed this guy's instructions and it worked:
    http://evsiphone.blogspot.com/2009/05/iphone-iphone-could-not-be-restored.html
I did disable the security (AVG and Zone Alarm) when I tried on my own PC. My wife's laptop which eventually got it working also uses AVG and Zone Alarm but on an XP O/S whereas my PC is Vista - maybe this is why.
    Cheers for you help.

disaster, thanks firefox 1 year of photos lost

Thanks for the obvious question. I mean it. The very same thought came to me this morning and, sure enough, I had booted into another drive--my old one that, of course, had the old desktop, etc.
It didn't dawn on me that this was the case since I hadn't set it as a boot drive but I guess in the course of all the restarts I did, it got switched.
    I'm back to normal again.

I keep getting this error code while trying to import a cd to my itunes: "Error occurred while converting the file. The disc you are attempting to use is full. removing files and emptying the recycle bin will free up additional space."  What does this mean?

Well it probably means exactly what it says... How much free space is there on your hard drive where the iTunes Media folder resides? I believe there is also an obscure bug that can occur when software doesn't read the true value of the free space properly, and the workaround is, perversely, to duplicate some content so that with less actual free space the software in question perceives it as more. I've no idea if iTunes is affected by such a bug.

its says its downloading but its not moving further. its seems like its not downloading

It takes a while to get going. If you see no movement for about half an hour restart and it should begin the DL.
YOu should at least see a loading bar under your Launchpad icon.

After download ios5 my recently download podcasts do not appear in recently added playlist on my iphone. Anyway to change this?

I had this problem with some podcasts immediately after updating to iOS 5. In order to resolve the issue, I did this:
1- Deleted/unsubscribed from all my podcasts.
    2- Synced to my iPhone.
3- Resubscrubed to all my podcasts.
4- Downloaded all podcast episodes I wanted. (You could instead restore from a backup if some episodes are no longer available for download.)
    5- Synced to my iPhone.

  • Dock "download" icon (file) not working

My download icon (file) on the dock dose nothing when pressed? And when I right click it and "engage" *open download* it gives me a question mark. My downloaded files are there through the finder and when I download all seems to be OK. So what could be the problem? All suggestions, advice and comments are welcomed; thank you in advance for any feedback.

drag the downloads icon off the dock. now select the downloads folder in finder and drag it to the dock. this will recreate the downloads stack and hopefully fix the problem with it.

  • Deleted items not going to recycle bin.

Whenever I delete something from my iTunes library, I get the popup asking if I want to move it to the recycle bin or leave the file on the computer, and I always click on the button to move it to the recycle bin.
And it never does. It just leaves everything in the hard drive.
Since I watch a daily vlog as a video podcast, this can add up to some serious hard drive space wasted in short order.
I've drilled down to the folder for that in my iTunes folder, and sure enough there was the last episode I had just removed.
It'll be a major pain to sort through and delete the items I've removed, but not the ones I'm saving, and am wondering if there is a way to fix iTunes to work properly, like it did on my old Mac, rather than having to navigate my way through the iTunes folder every time I don't want to save something I've just played the one time I downloaded it for.

    Hello klep:
I have seen this before but, of course, I do not remember the solution.
    Try a couple of things:
    Run permission repair.
Restart your computer (if you have not already done so).
Trash the finder preference file (com.apple.finder.plist) and restart.

  • Delete songs from itunes library, no option to keep file or move to recycle bin

    iTunes Version 11.0.1.12
I just finished moving my library to a different drive and all seemed to be fine until I started cleaning out some duplicate songs.  When I delete a song from the library, it does not ask if you want to keep the file or move to the recycle bin.  Only 1 window comes up asking - Are you sure you want to delete the selected song?.....and there are only 2 choices - Delete Song or Cancel.  "Do not ask me again" still shows in the window with the box.
In Preferences under Advanced, the path shows  - G:\iTunes\iTunes Media\iTunes Music.
I checked for other references to this but could not locate.
Would certainly appreciate some help - thanks

I have this question too - Help tells me option is there but it's not

  • Some downloaded podcast files restart in the middle

    Hi,
Every so often, an audio podcast file (from any of a bunch of series I subscribe to) that iTunes downloads has the correct duration, but the contents are oddly corrupted: In mid-playback the audio starts over again. Say it's a 15 min. episode - after 5 min. it starts from the beginning, and it's missing the last 5 minutes.
The problem is in the file, so it's either:
    1. Corrupt from the source - doubtful, as I've encountered this from various sources, and such a significant problem wouldn't go unnoticed.
    2. Occurs during downloading.
Anyone seen this? Is there a solution? How can I delete an episode and redownload it in iTunes to test hypothesis #2?
    Thanks much,
    L.

I encountered it with a couple of episodes of the History of Rome podcast:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-history-of-rome/id261654474
Just had it with episode 9 of "A History of: Hannibal and the Punic Wars":
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/history-hannibal-punic-wars/id557854144
Likewise, 1 or more of the short episodes (under 2 minutes) of Scientific American "60-Second ..." (Space, Health, Science...), for example: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/60-second-science/id189330872
(not sure which of the several series this occured in)
From the files accumulating on my computer it looks like it also happened in episode #408 of Snap Judgement:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/snap-judgment-radio/id283657561
There may have been others. It's been happening sporadically over a good span of time (give or take a year).
    Thanks,
    L.
