Downloaded QT but it doesn't work

Hi,
My girlfriend was given a new iPod Shuffle so we wanted to watch the guided tour video on Apple's website. It said I had to download QT. I downloaded it, it's there in the Program Files, I rebooted the computer which is a fairly new IBM laptop running Windows XP with the newest version of IE, but when I go back to Apple's website and try to open the video, it tells me again that I need to download QT. I'm a Mac user and don't know much about PC's. Can anyone explain what's going on?

What's happening is Apple wants to run a ActiveX control on the windows computer. When you click on the guided video tour you should get a message at the top of the screen saying something to the effect> this website wants to run this software if you trust it click here.
If that message is not showing up, then from IE go to Tools>Manage Add-ons and enable QuickTime Object, that seems to be the name of the Add-on Apple's trying to use with this guided tour.

Several sites I go to via Safari 6.0.2 under OS X 10.8.2 show "Blocked Plug-In" and as instructed I've downloaded and installed the latest Flash version (twice) but I still get the “Adobe Flash Player” is out of date message. Does anyone know why?

Thanks, but, using the "free" version of Reader, there is no opportunity to open nor import the xml data - the menu options do not exist - there is no import listed.
If we try to open the xml file directly, then we get an error - something to the effect of "unsupported file type, or the file is corrupted".
I just noticed in my Pro version that there is the command File ->Form Data ->Import Data to Form... command. Is this what you are referring to?
What do you recommend? Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to purchase a few copies of Acrobat Pro for the reservations people to use? I was hoping that the free version of reader would do it, but perhaps not?

I purchased the QuickTime MPEG-2 component for Quicktime as I am using Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and I want to be able to via MPEG-2 transport streams.
I paid £14.00 - everything downloaded and installed fine but it doesn't work and I am still unable to view the transport streams in Quicktime even though according to the website this is want the component will let me do.
I have rebooted several times, reinstalled both Quicktime and the MPEG-2 component and still nothing. I have then spent ages going around and around in circles on the website trying to find a way of emailing customer services or technical support to get some assistance but I just always end back in the same place no further forward.
Please can anyone else offer any suggestions - either how I can get it working or how I can get my £14 back from Apple!!

1) Suggest you reread the "Feature" details for the QT MPEG-2 Playback Component paying particular attention to the paragraph titled "Can transport streams be played?" which clearly states that this codec does NOT support the playback of transport stream (TS) files.
2) This codec can only be used with "classic" QT apps such as the QT 7 player, GarageBand, or third-party apps like the free MPEG Streamclip app.
3) The VLC player intrinsically supports TS files. MPEG Streamclip with the QT MPEG-2 Playback Component installed supports TS file playback.
4) MPEG Streamclip with the QT MPEG-2 Playback Component installed can also resave muxed TS file content as muxed program stream (PS) content which is then "playback" compatible with both QT 7 and QT X players (assuming you select an audio compression format compatible with both) or convert the muxed TS content to QT "edit" compatible compression formats if desired.
Please can anyone else offer any suggestions - either how I can get it working or how I can get my £14 back from Apple!!
Apple seldom makes refunds to people who successfully purchase software which they do not really understand how to use—cavaet emptor. It is difficult to make suggestions here without knowing more about your personal preferences and/or work flow requirements. I personally would keep the codec to enhance various playback, conversion, and editing options on my Mac.

When ever the Download window opens firefoxes freezes/stops responding. I can't do anything with it. As soon as it opens, no response. I disabled most of my add-ons but still doesn't work. It's only started recently. Maybe a week or so.

When I open Creative Cloud there is only a thinking wheel and nothing else. I have downloaded it again but still doesn't work. I want Lightroom and it keeps saying I need this to download it.

1.If internet is fine then this might be becase of Creative cloud files, please try the steps metioned in http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/unknown-server-error-launchin g-cc.html and see if it works.
2.Please navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db and trash it. Try to launch CC desktop and sign in with your Adobe Id (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-f iles.html) .
{Note for step 2: The file is in the user Library, not the Applications folder. To see the hidden user Library (not the system Library) in the Finder click on the Gomenu item and then hold down the Alt / Option key. You will see Library appear between Home and Computer. Click onLibrary and then navigate toApplication Support > Adobe > OOBE.
Alternatively open the Terminal and paste in the following and then press the Enter / Return key:
rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db, This will also delete the file}

Here are a bunch of things that you can try to get the downloads to resume.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 7520 ... pretty new. Sometimes when I download a CD / album to my library acouple of tracks get separated away from the main group. I've tried to click and drag the stragglers over to the main group but it doesn't work. Any Ideas

If I understand correctly, it sounds like iTunes is not grouping the songs from a particular CD together. The cause could be something as minor as a misspelling or slight variations. For more information, see the following resource:

If so, what happens when you try to download? Is it a case of nothing happens? If so, take a look at the suggestions under 'Stalled Download' in this link:

Also, some usrs have found that logging out of the Mac App Store and then back in again and starting over has kick-started the download. It seems that the 5+gb download can take a long time to give any feedback as to what's happening.

You are going to get nowhere quick with the 6.1 utility in Mountain Lion if this is the only OS you have available.
Look up how to install 5.6 utility under ML. At least then you can see printers. That is assuming you are trying to use USB.
Has this worked ever on Mountain Lion? Did you download the drivers for that printer for ML?
Plug it into a computer directly.. does it work? If it doesn't work locally it sure will not work via the network.
