Downloaded ringtones too quiet?

i downloaded two tingtones to iphone but i can barely hear my phone ring when i use them --the normal tones are much louder someone suggested its due to the fact the iphone has a lousy speaker --music is inteneded to be listened through headphones. Any one else have this problem??

I think that the difference comes from Dynamic Range Compression in the audio tracks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audiolevelcompression). I made one ringtone out of an old classical recording, and it is way too quiet. I made another one out of a more recent rock song, and it was plenty loud.
I also think that the little built in speakers are better at playing certain frequencies than others. For example, songs with a lot of low end are going to sound very quiet because those portions are just getting left out.

    Hi

It might sound daft but have you tried a few of the different ringtones to see if any are louder?
How long have you had the devices for and where did you do the upgrades?
    Thanks.

  • Nokia 3600 slide ringtones too quiet

I had a Nokia 6100 until a week ago when I upgraded to 3600 slide (which is awsome, btw). However, ringtones and alerts on my new phone are irritably quiet. Consequently, I miss calls.
I want the loud rintones from my old 6100 back. How can I get them on the 3600 slide?

    Hi,
Please do these couple of steps - It might improve things slightly:
Select Menu > Settings > Profiles > Personalise — to personalize the profile.
    or
Select Menu > Settings > Tones > Ringing volume> then set it to the maximum value. Then just save it.
If that doesn't solve the problem, it might the phone really behaves like that. Some Nokia phone really does have a quiet ringers - like the Nokia 5310 (No offense meant!)
    Hope this helps =)

  • Palm Treo 800W -- Ringtones too quiet! It's never as loud as the preview when selecting the ringtone...?

I have a Palm Treo 800W and I am required to keep it on vibrate the whole time because the sound of the vibrate is louder then the actual ringtone, even when I have the devices volume turned up to the max. When I go in to select a ringtone and preview it, it's very loud. Loud enough to be functional, but yet when I receive a phone call I can't hear my phone ringing since the ring tone is so quite.
I tried a soft reset because I thought that might be the problem but that still didn't fix the problem. Every other tone works fine, such as text message notification, or email notification, etc... but the ringtone for 'known' and 'unknown caller' is just too quite to be functional. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thank you

Don't know if comfortable with editing your registry... I found a RegEdit out there to modify your ring vol that works really well.  A word of warning, if you are going to attempt: A>don't modify registry unless you are willing to live with consequences B>use 3 as your vol setting if you don't want to wear out your speaker or hear distorted sound.

  • Iphone 5 ringtones too quiet

need help making my iphone5 ring loud at night,, I am hearing impaired and no matter what tone I use , not loud enough to wake me up?

The answer of "if you don't like it take it back" is just not way to approach people that have issues. We all paid $499 or $599 for the iPhone and we all have the right to speak up. If someone has had the iPhone for over a month with the hope that there would be more updates or whatever, there is no return policy.
If everybody who has an issue with the iPhone were to return it, that would be one heck of a situation. As you can see, there are a lot of people that LUV the iPhone but not everyone is totally happy with the iPhone at this stage of the process. A lot of these people are consumers and have not experienced the realities of a new product and the twist and turns related to being a early adopter.
There are 597 pages of threads all dedicated to the iPhone. Given that there are a great number of repeat threads such as "ringtones", "volume", etc. that is still a lot of threads of issues and perceived issues. Cut it by 2/3 and it is still 200 pages of questions, comments, etc. X approximately 15 threads per page, that is still 3,000 threads. This doesn't even count the comments by some great people that take the time to respond.
Just my $.02 worth of comment regarding "return it".
    Laura Brown 1 -
I realize that it is different for a woman regarding pockets or belts cases. Have you thought about a lanyard for carrying the iPhone? I have seen a number of them advertised and there was even a thread or two on the subject.
    Just a thought.
Don't return the iPhone. Live the experience of seeing it evolve into a seasoned product.

  • Lg cosmos 2 downloaded music is too quiet

What could be the problem with music being too quiet, and how do I fix it?  I literally can barely hear it when I put my ear right next to the phone.
    Thank you.

    Hi.
Thanks for replying.  I received the phone in October; just had it replaced a couple of weeks ago because it wasn't holding a charge.  Both phones do the same.  No protective case or cover.  Ring tones are nice and loud, phone "voice" is fine, I can hear my callers with no problem.  It's just the downloaded music that is so soft I can barely hear it.  I even tried moving a ring tone that was proven over to music folder to see what would happen.  It was soft there as well.  I've looked online for ideas but haven't found any help.

  • My ringtone is too quiet

WHen I export my GarageBand files to a ringtone, they always seem to be quieter than the other preset ringtones. I am using v2.0.6 on an iPad mini with 1.3 GB left, 16GB total. Will there be a fix/is there a workaround? Also, I would like to be able to delete my previous ringtones w/o a computer.

If your phone is still under warranty, I'd make an appointment at the Genius Bar.
    2) The ringer, even cranked up with an obnoxious ringtone, is way too quiet. If the phone is in my jacket pocket, or more then 15 feet away I will never hear it. In contrast, my husband's el-cheapo free cell phone rings and I can hear it through my whole home.
I find the audible rings to be very loud on the iPhone. If you're having problems hearing them, you may have a defective phone.

  • Why didnt my downloaded ringtones sync to my iphone device during a recent sync/upgrade?

I just had a recent sync of my 3G iphone when connected to my computer and it performed a rather lengthy upgrade but I noticed after it was finished that NONE of the downloaded ringtones that I had stored in itunes never synced to my device. All of the downloaded ringtones are listed when I view the Itunes page, but my device my iphone doesnt have these. Why is that? I will be very very upset if I cant sync these to my phone. I spent a long time accumulating these ringtones. Any help would be much appreciated

It's too late now. He is going to lose everything on his phone. One hopes he learns the importance of backups, at least.

  • Downloading ringtones for iPhone

I emailed some ringtones to myself, hoping to download them onto iTunes on my 3GS.  Does anyone know how to do this?

From a website I found out how to create them with music on your iTunes through your computer.
    1. Find your song you want and cut off your favorite 30 second in "Get Info"
    2. Right click again and click "create AAC version"
    3. Right click new clone of the song that just appeared and right click and click "open in finder"
    4. When using Windows 7 or Vista, you will have to find the options in the Libraries window that pops up and find where you can enable viewing file extensions
    5. Find the song you want the ringtone of and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r
    6. Right click and press "open in iTunes"
    7. Find your new ringtone in iTunes and snyc it onto your phone.
**if this is too much for you, you can always download ringtones by selecting a ringtone on an iOS device and pressing the "Buy More Tones" button
    Thank you for choosing Apple.

  • Mixdowns are too Quiet

    Hello,
I have a Macbook 2010 model, with iLife 11 garageband as the program I'm using to create .mp3 mixdowns of tracks.
The issue I am having is my mixdowns are simply too quiet.
I mix them using some Samson headphones and mix them in the program. I get all the effects and whatnot to the level I like. There is for example an instrumental followed by dubs or voice overs.
Once I create the mixdown however, the .mp3 quality is really reduced and everything is just quieter.
On my PC, I used a program named Cool Edit, and when creating a mixdown, and I never had a similar issue.
When I play them in garageband, they sound louder, but when I play the mixdown back in itunes, it sounds very quiet when compared with any other .mp3 file downloaded on itunes or synced with itunes.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?
    Appreciate any help guys, thanks.

If you do clip a little bit, the auto normalize function works well for this.
That's definitely wrong. The normalization is done after the mixdown. So if you have a clipped signal already, it will just become softer, but still have the ugly clipping sound.
To make clear what auto-normalization means: It maxes out the loudest signal in the whole recording - one single spike can throw off the whole song. So if your auto-normalized song sounds too quiet, you should try to bring down those spikes with compression or limiting.

  • Audio is too quiet--can it be amplified?

I occasionally download YouTube videos that have to do with history, for my history class (I'm a teacher) and I string them together and edit them in Final Cut Pro 5, then use iDVD to burn them to DVDs to show in class. Of course, the video is often lousy, but these are throwaway one-time-use videos anyway, and the narration is often more important than the picture.
But sometimes I have a problem with the soundtrack of the video being too quiet to hear well, even with the audio volume line raised to the max in the timeline.
Is there any way that I can raise the volume of these audio clips further in Final Cut, using an audio filter or something? I looked at all the audio filters in the menus, and I can't figure out what most of them do. I don't see any with "amplify" in their name. Can it be done somehow?
    Thanks for any help.
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
An instance of the Compressor/Limiter filter will help to reduce the dynamic range of the clip ...
Select your clip in the timeline, then choose Effects menu > Audio Filters > Final Cut Pro > Compressor/Limiter, then double click the clip to open it into the Viewer window. Now click the Filters tab in the Viewer so that you can adjust the filter settings. For your needs you'd probably want to first check the "Preserve Volume" checkbox, set the Ratio to about 10, then progressively reduce the Threshold until you achieve the desired level.
By the way, when you play with audio filters its usually going to be necessary to hear the effect of the changes you're making in the filter in real time, right? So you'll want to be sure that you are playing through the clip in the timeline whilst you make these changes ... you might also want to loop that playback if its a short clip. An easy way to do this is to position the playhead over the clip and then press "X" to mark an In and Out point at the extents of the clip, then press "Control L" to toggle "Loop Playback" mode, and press "Shift Backslash" to "Play In to Out" ... the clip should play continuously now whilst you mess with the audio filter parameters as necessary.
    Hope it helps

  • 970 Gaming Motherboard Audio too quiet

ive been missing with this all day. Both the windows 7 drivers and the realtek drivers are too quiet, tested with my speakers (just a one 3.5 plug, with stereo speakers + sub) and my headphones. Every volume setting is maxed out etc etc etc. Its far too quiet for loudness equalization/headphones settings to make it loud enough. i primarily have been using the back port as i always do but ive tested the front. Latest drivers downloaded from MSI website from the page for my mobo. Please tell me this isn't a RMA i have to do i might die....xD
If i run the audio to my USB mic and plug my headphones into there, the audio is fine.
Anyone have any advice to offer?
One of the reasons i bought this was for its superior onboard sound....i haven't had any other problems with it. but if i cant use its audio then its gone.
in case its somehow relevant, specs:
    MSI 970 gaming
    FX-6300 stock clock
    4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 1600 Gskill ares
evga GTX 660 stock clock 2GB

Remove the front panel audio connector from the board and retest the rear plugs. Did you install all the needed audio drivers?
Also ensure that you don't have any errant standoff causing a short, perhaps test the baord outside the case to ensure that you don't have a potential short somewhere.
If that does not solve the problem, then perhaps you may have a defective analog audio circuit as your digital audio via the USB seems to work.
Thanks for the standoff suggestion, that never occured to me. however, there arent any phantom standoffs anywhere after checking. I unplugged the front audio panel to no change, and i even tried unlugging the LED board that was in the back port next to the sound stuff in case it was somehow doing stuff to no avail.
All the drivers that i could have tried, i did. I tried windows 7 drivers, i tried MSI realtek drivers, and i tried just realtek drivers. looks like ill have to RMA to newegg. i assume theres no way to just use this board until the new one comes then return it so i dont have to be without my PC for a week or 2? :/
    thanks for your help.

  • Our KIN Twom phone ringers are too quiet.

Our KIN Twom phone ringers are too quiet.
Are loud ringers/ringtones available?  We have the volume all the way up, and still can't hear them. Do I have to make my own loud ringtones, or is there a way to increase the system volume?  We have tried all the suggestions in the manual, but even with the volume turned up all the way, they are hard to hear if you aren't in the library or som  other quiet place.

Agreed. Well..depends on how deep of a sleeper you are. But..i wanted an 'alarm' alarm on my phone anyways, so i found 2.
As far as ringtones/alarms/etc go, both phonezoo.com and myxer.com work well. myxer doesn't require registration while phonezoo does, however i found that phonezoo has a much larger collection and better customization (haven't found the 'volume' on myxer to make any difference, and that is all myxer has over phonezoo), as well as it is all free, where myxer is some free, some of charge.
I would suggest saving them to your pc, then sending them through email. It may be my paranoia of 'unknown' sites having my phone number, email, etc, but i don't want any extra telemarketers/spam that i don't have to have. For phonezoo, i just didn't provide a number (or at least a real one), which isn't required if you just save it to PC, then email to the phone (###@vzwpix.com). And if you're really paranoid, create another email for registering anyways (i used a secondary email i already had).
Here are the links to the alarms that i used:
    http://www.phonezoo.com/ringtone/205379540/alarm-clock-1.htm
    http://www.phonezoo.com/ringtone/90368644/alarm-clock.htm
Note about ringtones with the Kin phones: you can't rename or delete them, as many of you already know. However, when you save a ringtone of the same name onto the phone, it will overwrite the old one. Lesson was, name the ringtones to names you plan on keeping (before you save/send to the phone), although you don't have to worry too much about the actual alarm quality. If you edit it in a way you don't like, you can just re-edit the ringtone and send it as the same name to overwrite it. This helped me, where i created a ringtone that cycles exactly 2 times before the phone goes to voicemail (~9 secs, fyi. and ~24 for a single cycle)
For those 2 alarms, i just called them @Alarm 1 and @Alarm 2. The @ is so they appear at the top of the list. To my knowledge, you can't organize the ringtones into the categories of 'melodies', 'alerts', or 'alarms'. What i did instead is put a symbol in front of the name, so they appear above the list of melodies anyways. To be honest, most/all of the default melodies aren't worth much, although i find that the alerts/alarms are noises that i do like and use. For anything custom, certain symbols 'translate' correctly when transferred to the phone, including ! and @, and others that i didn't try. Ones like * and _ don't work out, the phone translates them to number sequences (_ is 95 or something like that), its just trial and error as to which actually register the symbols. Name it to what you want on the computer, and send it to the phone. You'll recieve it on the Kin, but before saving it, make sure the name is what you want it to be (symbols, caps, spacing, spelling, etc), and if theres errors, change it on the comp and re-send it.
On top of having them sorted above the default melodies, this also allows me to sort them by 'type', aka ! is alarms/alerts, and @ is ringtones. Just my custom way of sorting things, i'm sure numbers work the same too, so theres plenty to cycle through, just put them in front of the ringtone name.
I also added 3 completely silent ringtones to my phone, of different lengths (short, medium, long). On my old phone, i was used to vibrate only, so this is for if i ever decide to make only certain tones vibrate only, i can just set it to the silent ringtone, with vibrate on in the system settings.
    Link:
    http://www.phonezoo.com/ringtone/205318823/total-silence.htm
just edit it through phonezoo by changing the lengths, and saving them under different names.
    Cheers.

You must create the ringtones.  google will find several free ways to do this.
It will then appear in the "Ringtones" section of your itunes "Library".
Then you select it to sync under the ringtones tab.
