Downloaded songs disappear

Hello,
Songs that I have purchased from iTunes and downloaded directly to me my iPhone stop working after one play.  When I plug my phone into my Mac, open iTunes, and view "On This iPhone", I see that these unplayable songs are listed in grey with dotted circles on the left. They are also already loaded onto my Mac and play just fine from my computer.
When I go back to my iPhone, the Music app shows an icon next to these songs so that I can re-download them.  However, I can't actually re-download them from here - I see a red circle for a moment and then the download icon again.
I can, however, go to the iTunes app on my iPhone and re-download them again there, by going to Puchased/Not On This iPhone.
However, after one play, they go back to the same state.
I've tried to get them to sync instead from iTunes on my Mac and they won't.  I've modified the songs so they seem new and they won't sync to the phone.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Jimmy
NOTE: I have a huge database of music and don't want to spend hours re-syncing them to my phone

The Spotify community is not an official support channel, it has been set up as a place for user-user help. I would also ask that you try and keep the language respectful here on the community, we are just here to help. Also "begging for money" is a ridiculous thing to say, you pay for a service they don't beg you for money. If you don't like it, you can walk away and they will never bother you again (unlike people who beg for things).
If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

I downloaded some songs from other music website into iTunes, played some of them with iTunes and synchronized them into my iPod. The next time I opened iTunes and tried to play these songs, it showed me an exclamation point next to the songs and a pop-up box telling me the original file could not be found. I did not update iTunes between the times and did not remove or delete these songs. They just simply disappeared! I do not dare to synchronize my iPod with the iTunes again being affraid that the songs in my iPod will also disappear. Any help?

    Hi Luo!
Do you know what type of music files you downloaded from these other music websites? MP3, WMA, etc...?
Did you pay for these files, if so, are they from a "subscription" service?
    A bit more info, please.

  • Downloaded songs disappearing

I have loaded a bunch of cd's onto my IPOD mini, and a few albums I purchased on ITUNES. The songs from ITunes are on my computer, and were transferred over to my IPod. Sometimes the songs will play. Other times, the screen will speed through all the names of the songs, then go on to a different artist that was not downloaded from ITunes. Can anyone tell me how I can get the IPod to consistently play the songs I downloaded?

  • I have had several songs disappear from my library

Where have my purchased and downloaded songs disappeared to?

If a file with the same name is saved again then a version is created. You can see versions from the Files page at https://creative.adobe.com/files. From the Files page click on the file to go to its page. Switch from the Details tab to the Activity tab if needed. You will see the Current Version and any past versions.

  • Why is it that whenever I download a song from Itunes that a small grey round button appears next to the song (apparently this is the download progress button), but when I press on it to resume, the song disappears. This wasn't happening before.

Why is it that whenever I download a song from itunes that a small grey button appears next to the song (apparently this is the download progress) but whenever I hit it to resume, the song disappears. I am getting annoyed with having to copy the songs manually onto my phone. Thanks for anyones help. Cheers

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Previously Downloaded songs being re-downloaded suddenly disappear

I have 1310 previously purchased songs and I am re-downloading them to my new PC. I had downloaded 315 songs when I noticed the file save location was wrong, so I edited it. After that, the remaining 995 songs disappeared from the downloads menu and the normal "download all" in the account information screen is not there.
Any ideas how to find them?

And all songs I downloaded have disappeared as well

  • Downloaded songs to my iPodtouch, simply disappear

The thing is when I've purchased a few songs thru my iPodtouch. The downloading goes OK. The problem comes when I connect the iPod to my computer to synchronize and then click on the Eject icon to disconnect. Once done this, I note that specially my downloaded songs have disspeared. I quickly have made a report of this via iTunes Customer Service and they put the lost albums again in my apple account to download but the main thing is I think there's a bug in the iPodtouch. Thanks and sorry for my english

I just got the 16GB ipod touch for Christmas, loved it, especially the WiFI download options. I quickly spent about $50 downloading songs over the first several days. Only to have every single one disappear. At first, not understanding the problem, I used the "Report a Problem" reply from my itunes receipt, but am now understanding it is a much bigger problem. Is everyone just living with this issue, or has anyone had any luck getting some answers or ideas from Apple on this??

  • Old laptop crashed, tried syncing it into new one but half my songs disappeared. No I got a new ipod and another new laptop. How do i get back my lost songs and make sure it all ends up on my new ipod?

I had a laptop that had over 2,000 songs in my library but it crashed and my ipod could only hold a little over 1000. Later, when I got my new laptop, I synced my ipod to it only to have all my songs disappear. I did the itunes media folder thing and only got about half of my songs back (some from CDs, some from the itunes store and some from amazon downloads). I hadto get a newhard drive for my laptop and now i have a new ipod. So how can I getback my old songs and then get ALL of my songs tranfered to my new ipod?

    Hello Chris,
Thanks for your answer. I was hoping for an easier answer. Too bad there is no drag and drop solution, it would have been much easier.
    Thanks for answering so fast.
    Bye.

  • I just installed itunes on new computer and songs disappeared from Ipod

I just reinstalled itunes on a computer that had a bug and was cleaned up and cleared out.  When I reinstalled itunes and it sync'd all my songs disappeared from my ipod. how do I get them back

    That is correct.
You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything abck on the coputer, then you would sync them to your ipod.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer, njot good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • HT204406 After I upgraded to iTunes 11.1 the download button disappeared. How do I get it back?

After I upgraded my iTunes to versoin 11.1 a number of my songs suddenly showed that they were unavailable for download, but that I could play them from iCloud. I verified that I actually can stream and play them from the iOS devices that I own; but that's only useful if I'm in range  of a router or cell tower (not always the case!).
In the past, I could right-click on a song and choose Download from the context menu. That has disappeared. The online help says to use the Download button, but that button is not present. How can this functionality be restored?

I had this same issue after I upgraded. Have iTunes re-scan your library for iTunes Match (Click "Match" along the top row of your library -- Songs Albums Artists... etc.). After it finished re-scanning my library I could download songs again from iTunes Match.

  • I have emigrated from the UK to Australia and am about to change my itunes country.  Will this result in me losing all my itunes downloaded songs etc?  Will i need 2 accounts?

Going on what other people have posted your purchases will disappear off the Purchased links for redownloading (they won't be removed from your iTunes library or iOS devices), but as long as you have all your downloads on your backup of your library then that shouldn't be a problem - you won't be able to redownload anything from the Australian store unless you return to Australia anyway.

  • Ugggh!  Songs disappeared!  HELP iTunes and iPod help

Okay, I don't know what I did, but all of my songs disappeared off iTunes. I think I was able to locate most of my CD's that I had downloaded, but anything that I had purchased is gone. What went wrong, and is there some way I can reinstall all of my songs?
Also, if I connect my iPod to my computer will it take the songs that are no longer in iTunes off of my iPod?
    Thanks!

  • Downloaded song from cloud. Icon changed from cloud to downloaded

I downloaded one of my purchased songs to my computer. The cloud icon disappeared from next to the track. The song accidentally got deleted. Went to the purchased section of iTunes and the song had "Downloaded" next to it instead of the cloud icon that was next to the remaining non-downloaded songs from the album. I can't re-download the song and it also doesn't play from the cloud anymore. Any suggestions on how to get access to the song again?

Thanks for your prompt reply. I did all of that, but it says another user/password is required to play the song. I know that user and he probably did indeed download the song on to my MAC when he was here.
So I checked, and there are other songs he downloaded but they do not flag the user/password requirement.
What I don't understand is how I was able to play the song in question from my library and subsequently download it onto my ipod with no problems until yesterday.
    Again, what changed?
