Downloaded songs lost

i purchased an album on iTunes and was having problems with my internet connection and downloading. before it could finish my computer froze and i was forced to restart. when i reopened iTunes, it didn't have the album. does anyone know how i can either download the songs or get a refund?

In iTunes, did you try store>check for purchases, to see if your download will restart?

Your signature lists both, Mac and iOS device - are you asking about GarageBand on your Mac or your iPhone/iPad?
If you are asking about the upgrade from GarageBand '11 to GarageBand 10.0 on your Mac, the old GarageBand version should still be installed. The installer will have moved GarageBand '11 to a separate folder "GarageBand 6.0.5" in your Applications folder. Open this folder and click "GarageBand".  Does this version still see your old projects?  If not, type ".band" into the Spotlight searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. Does that sfind your missing projects?
If you are asking about GarageBand on iPad/iPhone, there it is not possible to restore the previous version after you upgraded. And I do not see, how this upgrade could have deleted your projects. Have they completely vanished, or can you not open them any longer? If your projects have vanished, restore your device from your backup: See:  iCloud: Backup and restore overview

  • Downloaded songs suddenly lost

Having transferred downloaded songs from itunes onto my ipod, i find that they play for a few days, but then suddenly won't play at all until I reconnect my ipod to my computer again. This only affects all downloaded songs, tracks from imported cds still play as normal. Help! Thanks:)

Sounds like your iPod is resetting for some reason. It's 'losing' it's authorization. If syncing every couple days to your computer bugs you . . . you could try restoring Your Ipod to Factory Settings. If that doesn't fix it, you could just exchange it or return it to Apple for 'repair'.

  • Uploading to online data storage: Now cannot download songs into iTunes

    Hello all.
I am not seeing this one on any FAQs, knowledge bases, or discussion boards yet:
I am doing my initial upload of files to SugarSync, a highly-recommended online data storage service. Since I started, I cannot download songs into iTunes, even from the iTunes Store.
On any new downloads from the iTunes Store, the song DOES appear in the Music library view but immediately after completing the download it shows the exclamation point warning that the file is not in its location. The new folders get created properly within the iTunes Music folder but the subfolder where the song should be is empty. Each time I had to write iTunes Support to get them to make the files available.
I can still add files manually, no problem. E.g., I can add *.mp3 or *.wav files or folders, I can convert them to AAC, etc. The glitch seems to occur only when automated loads into iTunes are operating.
As a test, I downloaded a song from Amazon. Here the problem was different but I could work around it manually. Normally the Amazon process loads songs automatically into iTunes, too. Here again, the download did create the proper folder in the iTunes Music folder, as it should, but this time the symptoms were reversed:
    (a) the mp3 file WAS in its folder as it should be (w/the iTunes DL, the file was NOT there)
    (b) the song did NOT appear in the iTunes Music view (w/the iTunes DL, the song DID appear)
    (c) I was able to browse to the file and tell it manually to load into iTunes (w/iTunes I had to write Support and wait a day).
(I wonder what's the cause of the differences between the two cases.)
Strictly speaking, I can't PROVE the problem has anything to do with SugarSync (which otherwise seems good so far), but the DL problem started as soon as I started using it. Something in the SugarSync upload or file-monitoring process, or an odd thin gin iTunes, seems to be preventing automated, direct loads into iTunes. And since the data service runs in background, so it can monitor file changes, that might mean I can't buy music anymore! Obviously that would be a dealbreaker with SS. (I have contacted SS on this but they've not had fair chance to reply yet.)
    1) Anyone else have this problem?
    2) Is this permanent or just temporary while I am doing the initial upload?
    3) Anyone know a solution?
(FYI, I am a highly-experienced user and otherwise quite handy with iTunes files, library moves, and backups. My library is entirely consolidated and all AAC.)
    Thanks.
(Oh, and this occurred in both iTunes 8 and the new iTunes 9, so it seems unrelated to the upgrade this week.)

UPDATE 1. CHANGING BROWSER HELPED -- OR DID IT?
I called Apple iTunes Support, who said the problem is new to them. The technician's hypothesis was that something, perhaps browser-related, was interfering with the initial creation of a temporary file (which should go to the Recycle Bin) that instead causes the completed file to go to there.
He noted that iTunes, though not going through one's browser onscreen, does use settings within one's default browser. I use Mozilla Firefox, so we switched to IE as the default browser, restarted iTunes, and the song downloaded with no problem! Then I switched back to Mozilla, restarted iTunes, and it worked AGAIN with no problem!
(Dutifully I advised SugarSync, which is still investigating.)
    UPDATE 2: ARTIST NAME CHANGE - SOME FILES GOT MIS-MOVED / MIS-CHANGED
Definitely something still wrong. This time some pre-existing song entries (not new downloads) lost their connection to their source file.
In iTunes, which manages folder names for artists and albums automatically, I corrected the spelling for an Artist, so immediately iTunes renamed the folder, and automatically SugarSync noted the change to be uploaded. While the changed folder name and all the songs within were still uploading to SS, in iTunes I saw exclamation points come up -- but only for some of them. Most files got moved or changed correctly, but several lost connection to their file (i.e., the file was removed for the original misnamed folder but never moved into the correctly-named folder). Weird.
Worse, in only some of those cases did I find the missing *.m4a file in the Recycle bin. (I had to retrieve old, original *.mp3 versions from another folder and re-import each into iTunes manually.) I've never seen iTunes have a problem managing an Artist rename until I started using the live SS process.
(I've reported this to SS and asked if there is a way to disable temporarily SS to see if that's the problem.)
[Note: I am willing to try downloads again but I am wary of trying to rename entire Artists (Folder) again. That was a lot of work.]

UPDATE 3: SERIES OF TESTS - 1 FAILURE USING iTUNES
Still problem occurs, but not always. Today, I rebooted PC. I tried CD, iTunes, & Amazon. I varied having the browser open when using iTunes.
Here are the results of a series of attempts to download songs. "FAIL" means the file did not load properly into iTunes or loaded but lost its connection (exclamation point warning).
    # Source Mozilla #Songs Result
    1 CD Closed 1 OK
    2 iTunes Closed 1 OK
    3 Amazon Open 2 OK
    4 iTunes Open 1 FAIL
    5 Amazon Open 1 OK
    6 iTunes Closed 1 OK
    7 Amazon Open 2 OK
    8 iTunes Open 2 OK
(I reported this to SS. Hoping they'll test and find the problem.)

  • I suddenly lost all but 1 song (lost 1000  songs) tonight!

I suddenly lost all but 1 song (lost 1000+ songs and a number of videos!) tonight! My ipod touch died so I went and charged it. A few hrs later I went to turn on some music but all but one song was gone! What can I do?? I am away from home for a few days, so I can not hook it up to itunes. Will everything go back on once I do? Or is there something I can do now? Has this happened suddenly to anyone before?!?!?

Things like that can happen when the battery dies,  If you are in the USA and have the latest iOS you can redownload iTunes purchases on the iPod via iCloud beta.  Otherwise, you will have to wait and sync/restore your iPod when you get home.

One correction, from the icloud I was not able to listed to the entire song.  So when you purchased the song if it wasn't downloaded to your library, chances are you have lost your opportunity to listen to it.

  • Re-downloading songs that have been purchased

I had to change computer as my hard drive imploded and then i dropped my ipod down the loo. is it possible to re-download songs that i have previously purchased so i can re-build my library. thanks nikki

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on the link at the bottom of this page you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

  • Downloading songs in itunes.

How do i re download songs I have already purchased through Itunes - new PC and back up not worked.

You don't - media (music, films, tv shows) can only be downloaded once, and they are then your responsibility. You can try contacting Apple via the Lost or Missing Items section under the Music Purchases tab on this page http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/ , but Apple are under no obligation to allow a re-download.

  • Do not download songs from iTunes Match

    Hello everyone!
I use Ukrainian iTunes Store and signed on iTunes Match. Some of the songs from my library does not match with the music from the iTunes Store and therefore are loaded into the iCloud.
My problem is that the uploaded songs in the iCloud not downloaded to my device, there is the following error:
All devices are updated to the latest versions of iOS, everywhere including the Internet. I've already done all that is written here does not help. I wrote in support since January of this year, but nothing has changed.
I can download the song on:
    OS X 10.8.4, OS X 10.9 DP3;
    Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1;
I can not download songs on:
    iPod touch 4 with iOS 5.0.1, iOS 6.1.3;
    iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1.3, iOS 7 b3;
    iPad 4th with iOS 6.1.3, iOS 7 b3.

The problem arises with songs that have not lost tags buying from another store.
The songs were purchased in US iTunes Store, after being loaded into iTunes Math lost tags "Kind", "Copyright", "Profile".
Tag "Kind" was "Purchased audio AAC", after being loaded into iTunes Math became the "Audio file AAC".
Tag "Copyright" was, after being loaded into iTunes Math gone.
Tag "Purchased" was my first and last name, after being loaded into iTunes Math missing.
Songs that after being loaded into iTunes Math, do not lose these tags cause errors.
Errors occur in 3G and Wi-Fi networks.

  • Downloaded songs to my iPodtouch, simply disappear

The thing is when I've purchased a few songs thru my iPodtouch. The downloading goes OK. The problem comes when I connect the iPod to my computer to synchronize and then click on the Eject icon to disconnect. Once done this, I note that specially my downloaded songs have disspeared. I quickly have made a report of this via iTunes Customer Service and they put the lost albums again in my apple account to download but the main thing is I think there's a bug in the iPodtouch. Thanks and sorry for my english

I just got the 16GB ipod touch for Christmas, loved it, especially the WiFI download options. I quickly spent about $50 downloading songs over the first several days. Only to have every single one disappear. At first, not understanding the problem, I used the "Report a Problem" reply from my itunes receipt, but am now understanding it is a much bigger problem. Is everyone just living with this issue, or has anyone had any luck getting some answers or ideas from Apple on this??

  • Downloaded Song Error

Recently I purchased and downloaded a song from the iTunes store. However during my download I lost internet connection for a couple of minutes and yet the song still downloaded. The song is in my library, however when I try to play it (I double click, press play while it is highlighted) iTunes pauses as if about to play it and then goes back to doing nothing. Every other song in my library works fine.
Any way I can get like a specific song code to re-wodnload or am I just screwed here?
    -Will

it sounds like an incomplete or corrupted download. It's a long shot, but look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for purchases" command and run that. You may find the track still listed there to be downloaded.
If not, contact the iTunes Store using the form at the bottom of the Download FAQ web page and explain the problem to them.
    Good luck.
