Downloaded video content keeps disappearing (for real). .TMP folders?!!!

Alright - I have been at this for years, so the fact that I am baffled, well, baffles me:
I have recently replaced my Powermac with a new Mac Pro (also have an MBP). I copied my iTunes library, all is well. I purchased a few songs, cool.
However, in the last 3 days, I have purchased 1 movie, and 2 tv shows. They download fine, I can watch them, sync to my iPod.
Next time I log on to my computer, they are gone - yes, I know how this sounds. They are NO moved, not renamed - they are gone - the folder they were in are no longer, and they are not in the trash. The marker in iTunes is still there (cannot find file - do you want to find it?). Its still on my iPod.
I have done this 3 times now - one show I purchased that many times till I wised up and backed up the files - and sure enough, the folders disappeared again and I had to copy the backups to the directory.
Here is the odd thing: ALL 3 backed up folder end in .tmp (for example The Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy.tmp) and all 3 downloaded movies/shows are simply called 'download.m4v'.
Since I don't believe in ghosts I am assuming they didn't process right after download and iTunes at some point tags them for deletion because they are in folders called .tmp ?! Or am I completely off here ?
Fact is, they do get deleted (without going to the trash) without my doing. In years of iTunes and purchasing, this has never happened before.
BTW, I deauthorized the old system fine, and this one got authorized (though, another oddity, I had to do it twice, though the system has not changed in any way - I did it upon install and was asked again a few days ago.....)

Sure, reinstall XP...that will get yoru PC and iTunes back to square one....but I assume you don't want to do that!
If this was happening on my PC, I'd make a copy of the iTunes Library.itl file every time, right before I closed itunes. Actually, the four library files (ITL, XML, Genius itdb and Extras itdb).
Then I would get Process Monitor from SysInternals and figure out what was messing with itunes savings its database. Your IT folks should be able to help you with this; I assume they've already heard about the SysInternals troubleshooting tools.
Here is an older post by redkeefy where they used Process Monitor to find that Vaio program conflicting with itunes. It's helped hundreds of Vaio users over the years. Since you don't have a Vaio it does not help you right off, except for the hope you will find something else specific to your PC.

Just be advised, it will probably take a few hours to figure this out using Process Monitor. Meanwhile, you can use the workaround of saving the database files in another folder or a USB stick until you can get to it.

Try downloading something in the iTunes app on the iPad and see if that gets you out of the password loop that you are stuck in.

Movieclip button keeps disappearing for some reason.

I created our website using Actionscript 2.0 and on several of our pages there is a drop-down text box that has a "close" button on it, which is just a movieclip located inside the text box movieclip. For some reason, if you stay on a page for a few minutes the close button disappears. The hand still shows up when you hover over where it was at and you can still click on it, but it just turns invisible. I'm not sure what's causing this. Any suggestions?

Because of the location where I live, most of google services are blocked on the internet. Yesterday I wanted to download a device driver from www.m-audio.com but the driver's page stopped loading. I noticed a message at the bottom left of the Firefox window saying "waiting for www.google.com" or something similar. Because of that wait, I could open the page only after 4 tries and waiting way too much time. Can I filter page contents from google so Firefox skips them?

Firefox "fix won't download. dowload window keeps running - for hours. Help!

I'm running on Firefox 6.0.2. Firefox sent a (pop-up) download window saying Firefox recommends downloading a fix immediately. I clicked on it, window said downloading, ran for several hours until I closed it, unfinished. Trouble for me?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Why does downloaded videos from iTunes freeze for a few minutes and then continues. this happen with my iPod Touch 4G and iPad 2.

When I try to watch downloaded TV and Movies from iTunes they will pause for a minuite or 2 and then continue. I have an iPod Touch 4G and an iPad 2. Itunes support recently updated their account security so that your billing address in your account must match the billing address of the credit card you are using, as well as how it appears in the USPS database (
http://zip4.usps.com/). Try making sure your address matches exactly and it should allow you to use your account.

You can change the settings in Security & Privacy to "Anywhere"...
That should work... as to whether the printer driver will work, that's another question.

You can't protect bookmarks with a password in Firefox.
You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences" (Site Preferences includes the cookie exceptions)

Minimum Spec required to Download Video for Rent or Purchase using iTunes

Howdy, I have an LAN ( 802.11G ) in an apartment complex, I find that viewing the Keynote address and other video content as it streams ( real time ) tends to stutter and stalls with "Lost Packets" Stats. using Quicktime Pro.
What are the Minimum Network Bandwidth requirements and acceptable Drop out rate to view streaming/real time video. (Such as Renting and purchasing from iTunes movies)
I know my hardware is adequate for it worked OK at another location.

App Store asks me to re-download Motion 5 "Supplemental Content 1.1" for a second time - no way to delete request!

Just two days ago I downloaded Supplemental Content 1.1 for Motion 5 and everything went well. It shows up on my list of purchases, updates, and downloads but now there is a message that I have new "Updates not installed" message and the Supplemental Content is listed.
As it stands, when I open up the App Store list of downloads screen, Supplemental Content is shown at the top as ready to download - but, it is also listed below as having been downloaded. What gives?
And, to add confusion and make matters worse, there is no way to cancel downloading it.
There is no reason given why it should be downloaded again, something like "previous download unsuccessful" or whatever.
There is no way to talk to an App Store or "Motion" person about what should be done with this problem.
Why do things like this happen? Why is there no way to find out how to fix the problem except by "going public"?

Found out how to get rid of the "Install Update" problem.
Finally decided to contact Apple via copper wire (had support for the computer) and the support person walked me through a few things. This is the best I can remember:
1. Went to the App Store page where it shows the list of Updates, Downloads, etc. and it was still showing the need to update.
2. Exited the page.
3. Restart-ed the computer
4. Went to the App Store again, logged in, and went to the list of Updates, Downloads, etc. again. This time, with the cursor on the "Supplemental 1.1" 'window' area it said that it was not installed (or words to that effect) correctly. Told it to install and the installation process too about one or two SECONDS to complete and the Update notice disappeared. YEA!
That was all there was to it.
It would have been much nicer, though, if the little "problem" message had been shown earlier. All this could have been avoided.

Video mode on camera app keeps disappearing

I'm owner of iPhone 5c and unfortunately I have experienced some issues with my camera app on iOS 7.0.3.
Basically video mode keeps disappearing and the only way to get it back,is to restart the device.
Anyone else experienced such issues?
Please let me know if this is bug or hardware issue?!

What user troubleshooting have you tried? The user steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, and if needed restore as a new device. You have tried restart, since that is what you do when you turn the device on and off. A reset is done by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Restores are done via iTunes. If you have to do the reset more than once, then I would suspect a software issue and I would try the restore. If after a restore as new, the camera still malfunctions, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple store to have the device looked at.
