Downloaded Yosemite on Macbook Pro, tried to install now computer is stuffed. Any ideas anyone?

Hi, I have a 2011 Macbook Pro which was working fine until I tried to install Yosemite.
It downloaded okay, but failed to install coming up with an error message that I cant recall.
I have tried Internet Recovery, but the computer sat there with the countdown stuck at 24hrs, for 2 hours, got very hot and then came up with an exclamation mark over the globe icon and an error message which was 2002F I think. Any ideas anyone? I am trying to get back to OSX Mavericks and keep it that way until Apple sort themselves out.

Try booting and holding down the "option" key and see if the old OS is still intact.
Otherwise you'll have to go back to the old OS.
Let us know and we'll walk you through either retrieving via "Target Disk Mode" or pulling the current hard drive.
The first will require another Mac the second at least another drive and an external enclosure or a dongle.

Had the same problem, finally realized that the FileVault Encryption was struck at 19%. Speed back up to normal after I disabled FileVault using terminal command - sudo fdesetup diable
To check whether the FileVault is the culprit, go to System Preferences --> Security & Privacy --> FileVault to see if encryption is in progress.. For me the blue bar was less than a quarter with status 'estimating time remaining'..
Then open Terminal and type in: sudo fdesetup disable
It will then ask for the admin password (to be it asked twice), then it was disabled... Back to normal life again..
Here is my terminal log for reference:

  • Have new MacBook pro tried to install windows 7 failed cant get DVD out of drive

Tried to install windows 7 using boot camp message said can't install on any of the partitions can't get DVD out to restore eject button doesn't have any effect is there a key combination to eject dvd

First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. )
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • Just updated MacBook Pro, connect to WiFi, but unable to open any of the downloads, Just updated MacBook Pro, connect to WiFi, but unable to open any of the downloads

I just updated my MacBook Pro with the latest release of Lion.  Now I am unable to open downloaded content.  I have no trouble connecting to WiFI.
    Any ideas?

What is the prompt that comes up when you try to open a downloaded file? Where did you download the file from? What kind of file is it?

  • All the apps on my MacBook Pro have been transferred to the Trash.  Any idea how I might get them back into my iTunes?

I recently noticed that all the apps stored on my MacBook Pro are now in the Trash. This is the computer from which I synch all my devices.  I'm not sure what I did to make that happen, but I'd like to transfer them back into my iTunes.  I have tried to drag and drop them back into iTunes, and I have tried to right-click them to see if there is a good option.  Any ideas?

If the applications have got a IPA extension, they are apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. First of all, open iTunes and go to Applications to check that your applications are still there, because iTunes removes the old app version when it is updated, so you may have an old version in Trash. In this case, you can empty it.
If not, open a Finder window, select the Go menu (in the menu bar) -> Go to Folder, and type:
    ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications
When you are in the folder, open the Trash and move your apps to this folder.

I am using @me.com, and have stopped receiving emails to my macbook pro, still receiving them on my iPhone and iPad through icloud any help??

    Two things:
1st: In System Preferences, click on iCloud, uncheck Mail, if it's checked, wait about 30 seconds, and then re-checkit. That will redo your iCloud mail setting.
2nd: Look at your account setting in Mail's preferences, it should look like:

I'm trying to reinstall mountain lion 10.8.2 from a recovery disk and I get the following error when I goes to verify my computer with apple,
An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again. Can anyone help?

Well, I'm trying to figure out how you're doing this from a recovery disk. The only way to reinstall Mountain Lion is through the Recovery HD in the computer. Hold Cmd/R as you are starting up the computer and keep holding it. Eventually you'll get a screen asking you to select the language. Hit continue to select english and you'll get a Mac OS X Utilities Menu with the second option down being reinstall OS X.

  • The file "Acceptance Letter.pages" doesn't exist. Since installing Yosemite on MacBook Pro I cannot save or export from Pages. Just get the message at beginning of this post. How to solve problem?

I cannot save or export from Pages since installing Yosemite on MacBook Pro . I just get the message at beginning of this post “Acceptance Letter.pages” doesn’t exist or whatever file title I have inserted How to solve problem?

Thanks Peter but I was not seeking to store with I-Cloud. In fact I never store documents with I-cloud.
I was in fact trying to store the files to Documents, which is where I usually keep such things.
Have now discovered that if I leave the file untiled and simply close it, rather than saving it then it will save, oddly, to Documents. I then have to re-title it and move to the folder I want it in.
Despite the above, even once it is titled and saved in Documents then if I reopen it I still cannot then Export it to a Word or PDF file. I still just get the message . xxxxxx.pages does not exist!
Bad news as I am constantly exporting documents to Word and PDF to send to others who do not use a Mac
