Downloading 4.0 onto XP it takes a long conection process, with boxes on unresponsive script and a java scipt app saying type error and is all very annoying so what can I do I want the old firefox back a

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 replacing an earlier Firefox version. I have XP on my computer. When I now click on the Firefox icon after a time a window saying Unresponsive script and underneath script chrome etc comes up. I then press stop script and another window comes up Java Script application and type error. Eventually I get on to the internet but it's all very frustrating. I wish I had ignored the request to download 4.0
Please help

I can assure you that the sympton is indeed identical. For as the computer got worse, eventually it refused to start up and made 3 beeps. It has done this before, but today more times than before (just like when it first had this problem). Where-ever you go on the internet, it will tell you that the 3 beeps suggest the RAM is at fault. So, the same 3 beeps, means the same problem, which is the RAM.
With that in mind, I re-ask my question with the same reasoning and justification; am I still covered under warranty? (Reasoning/Justification: Considering the original problem was not entirely fixed, though something else was to make the MacBook Pro last a little longer before the reoccurance of this problem).

  • Did bug fix for add-ons after downloading new version. FB games do not work & add-ons still gone. I want the old version back. How can I do this?

Downloaded version 7 today. All add-ons are gone, not disabled, but gone. The bug fix offered in this instance tells me to go look for updates. I have, and I'm totally up to date, so now I don't know what to do. The add-ons are still gone, and my games in FB are also malfunctioning. I click on a button in the game and nothing happens. I can't even play them like this. I have playing all morning, and this only happened AFTER I updated to the latest Firefox browser 7. I want the old version back, but cannot figure out a way to do this. I am mad right now and want the option to go back to the old version. If I can't get it, I guess I'll go back to IE. Thanks....

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • When I am using Facebook, all of a sudden with Firefox 4, everything is SO slow. This has happened before. I want the old version back.

Ever since I switched to Firefox 4, everything is slowing down! I hate this version. I want the old version back. I went to Facebook, it took so long to be able to do anything that I just gave up. This NEVER happened with the old version. I just want to get the old version back. I DO NOT LIKE this new version. Same kinds of problems I had once before when I tried it.

  • Thiis iis not working foro me. i want my old firefox back

i just got the new firefox 4 installed and cannot do anything with my bookmarks. i don't see an awesome bar nor can i find my minx nail coverings in a bar of any sort. i want my old firefox back cuz this one sucks for me. thank you, jo gurule

It's different, yes. You can move the home (house) button to the other side if you want to, but it sounds like there are other aspects you don't like either. To downgrade to v3.6.16, please follow these instuctions:
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16] and download it to the desktop.
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

  • How can I get the old Firefox back, this new one stinks

how can I get the old Firefox back, this new one stinks

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.
If you do not like the new UI, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • I had downloaded OS X Mountain Lion and had to replace my hard drive. Now when I try to download it only wants to upgrade since I show that I previously purchased it. What can I do to get the operating system back

I had downloaded OS X Mountain Lion and had to replace my hard drive. Now when I try to download it only wants to upgrade since I show that I previously purchased it. What can I do to get the operating system back

I'm unclear on what the problem is. Have you installed a system on the new hard drive, and if so, what system? Had you actually installed Mountain Lion previously, or only downloaded it? And what does "it only wants to upgrade" mean? Have you actually got Mountain Lion already installed? (See About This Mac in the Apple menu.)
All Macs that shipped with Lion or newer are capable of internet recovery in situations like this. Just hold down command-R and it should start in recovery mode over the internet if necessary. You can reinstall the system from there. If you had Mountain Lion, I would assume that Mountain Lion would be the system you would get reinstalling that way.

    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == after installed last version...

Well, then isn't there some way to induce Firefox to give Windows parameters that make it open the fershlugginer window in the *same* position, instead of an offset position?

i have a problem when ı want to update and restore my ipad for ios5 : an error occurred while restoring this ipad (-10), what can i do??

Error -1 is not mentioned in this article about error messages during a restore process: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    This one comes close:
The device could not be restored. An internal error occurred, or Error 3200: This indicates a network-connectivity or traffic issue. If you see this error, wait an hour or more and try again.

  • Verity Credit Union site will not open with the new Firefox. How can I get the old Firefox back?

I want old Firefox back. My credit union, Verity, will not open with the new version of Firefox I have downloaded.

@glennhaste, the public pages I visited seem identical in IE8 and Fx10, but you may be referring to a part of the site that requires logging in (impossible for non-customers to view).
Since the problem is so recent, can you recall any changes you made in Firefox, or are you aware of any changes your CU made on its site?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
    Firefox > Preferences > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, "right-click" and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies" (''Sorry, I don't know how you right-click on a Mac'')
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • I just upgraded to 4 and I get messages to look at all the new stuff, and/or resart previous session. I just want my old Firefox back. How do I do this?

One of the messages I get says "Now that you've got Firefox 4, learn about all the cool things you can do with your new browser" There are several other little messages that also show up plus the "restart previous session" box. I just want a clean firefox home page to open when I want to use my browser. If I can't get this to stop I'll go back to explorer.

You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. ''Whether or not you make changes, you should be aware of what has changed and what you have to do to use changed or missing features.''

  • Lost all my important bookmarks when I upgraded to Firefox 4. I want the old Firefox AND my bookmarks back!!!

I just upgraded to Firefox 4 and in the process lost all my important bookmarks. Not acceptable!! How do I get the old version of Firefox back including ALL my old bookmarks?

This can be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • [disappeared]After update, scroll function changed. Want the old paradigm back.

    Laptop: Dell Inspiron 1545
    OS: Kubuntu 13.04
    Firefox: 24
Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical 1.0
What I have now: I press the arrow keys on the laptop (these are dedicated arrow keys, not multifunction keys), and the whole screen slams to the bottom (press down arrow key), or to the top (press the up arrow key).
What I expected: I expected no changes from what I had before - a smooth scroll of a few dozen pixels per second (not actually measured), i did not want a top slam or bottom slam. I already have dedicated keys for 'home' and 'end' which are elsewhere on the laptop keyboard (also dedicated keys, are not multifunction), so my expectation for the arrow keys is that the earlier smooth scroll functions would remain unchanged.
Somewhere since early August (give or take, I've been busy), I updated to Kubuntu 13.04 from 12.10, and I have updated the packages a few times. I remember that before these updates, the arrow key as a scroll function was what I had been using since I owned the laptop, it worked fine before, I know I hate what scroll is doing now. I have not modified about:config, but would do so if it comes to solve the scroll.
I've visited the KDE Control panel for the trackpad/mouse settings, nothing seems obvious. I know Kubuntu/Ubuntu slammed a LOT of system changes on me in this update, so I really haven't any way to be certain of the location of the needed changes... maybe the issue is not Firefox, but FWIW, I have scrolling issues on another Firefox installation and want that issue solved as well (this one request might fix both scroll issues).
Where could I turn to solve this?

The ONLY thing I have done is toggle caret browsing between 2 states, it was off when I first tested caret browsing for this thread (which means it was not part of the initial situation which I posted about), I turned caret browsing on to test it and I still had the slamming problem; I returned caret browsing to off, I still had the scroll slamming.
Since I last posted, I put the laptop into sleep mode (closed the screen over the keyboard), I worked an hour outdoors, I then awoke the laptop to check this thread, and now scrolling is normal. Seems that the problem has 'suddenly gone away' since the laptop slept.
To the reader: caret browsing made no difference: it was off when the problem occurred, caret browsing turned on still slammed, caret browsing turned off after the testing still slammed.
FWIW, prefs.js changed around (I kept no records of timing) the time that I toggled caret browsing, but as I stated above, caret browsing made no difference when I tested both of its modes.
Does caret browsing need time to take effect?
Does caret browsing need to have FF backgrounded then foregrounded?
Did toggling caret browsing change something in my preferences or in the FF config file? I see ~/.mozilla/firefox/vr8blhii.default/localstore.rdf changed since I slept the laptop... isn't that file related to plugins?
My networking gets disconnected a few moments after I sleep the laptop (BUT: I have slept the laptop dozens of times this week alone, the scroll slamming was never diffrerent until just before this post)... does that force any events inside FF? The OS settings were not changed since a few days ago, so the OS is not at fault.
