Downloading a CD with 30 mins left to complete I left it for 4 hours

Trying to fix it,
I first charged the iPod thinking it might be low - no change.
Next I tried checking for updates, then new software, restore & update.
Result was The iPod- "iPod" could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (1604)
I changed the cables around , I removed all other cables.
It said to confirm it is in recovery mode, otherwise "put in recovery mode" How do I do this?
If all else fails it said, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection. I used the white cable that came with the iPod.
I have had trouble with this iPod from the very beginning. It was troublesome to register with Apple and have not been able to connect it to the internet.
I don't know the software version or the serial number.
It came with very limited paperwork although it was purchased from a reputable store here in Melbourne.
Sorry I can't be more precise, but I'm not all that competent in the iPod field. (I also have an iPhone that is behaving really well)

You need much more help that we can provide on a forum. You need a basic iPod education. Schedule a meeting with a geek at the store where you bought it.

I had the same problem (freezing iphone when trying to unlock) today.
1) I made a backup of my iphone using itunes.
2) Went to my service provider and made a sim swap. So, I think there was a problem with the nano simcard.
Problem solved.

Yes I have tried that last weekend ad this weekend. I have tried wi fi at different times of the day too; in case it is speed issue. I have tried selecting only backing up limited content and not every thing per what other users suggest.
It's maybe either the router is lousy or there is something wrong with my software or hardware.

Why does it take so long to download a movie with my mini ipad?

I rented a movie on my mini ipad trough itunes and so far it has taken 40 minutes to download half the movie. I would like to have a refund on my credit card. This will be the last time i try to rent a movie. I am very disappointed because i bought the connections necessary to be able to rent movies.

Your ISP is almost certainly the cause. You can test your Broadband situation on this site and compare it with what your provider claims to provide. But be aware, it is rare for providers to supply more than half their claimed supply rate; there's too many ifs and buts. Your connections will be universal.

You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. However your phone can see whats apps used the data. go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle. line the dates up with your cycle. then there will be a bar graph below that extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. after those are extended below that will be a list of apps, there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

When it starts setting up the trial, it says "trying to connect to server" and will not go any farther in the process. I have left it for multiple hours, yet it never works. I need help!!

Computer "freezes" when left on for several hours.

I have had my MacBook Pro since late February. It seems to "freeze" when I leave it on for prolonged periods of time (several hours) without using it. By "freeze" I mean when the display wakes up, the trackpad will allow me to move around the screen, but not click on anything. Occasionally, I will get the colored spinning wheel when I click on one thing, but it never allows me to access any program or even to shut down the computer normally with the trackpad. I am forced to use the power button for a forced shutdown. It then restarts normally.
The computer has not been asleep, and has been attached to the power outlet the entire time. This is also not a kernel panic. (I have witnessed those with my previous computer.)
Prior to this, I owned a 12in Powerbook for nearly 5 years. It never grew unresponsive like this. Is this a common problem with the MacBook Pros, or is there something wrong with my unit?
Please let me know if you would like more information about my computer.

mavenue, you should really post this as a separate topic as the probability is that your problem is not the same.
(A) after such a forced restart have you done anything to check system integrity?
(B) are you saying that Safari is set to open at startup/login?
(C) which version of Safari are you using?
(D) is Safari set to open on a blank page or access a website?
(E) is the computer attached to a network at the time or not?
(F) have you examined the logs in Console (if not, have a look and post them in discussions.
Have a look at those points and start another thread with some of the information suggested above (including the log).

If this is on the actual download from itunes then this is an issue with your ISP.
If this is on installing the IOS to your phone (after extracting file), then it could be a security software issue.

Friend left iPhone for Android. My iPhone insists on sending iMessage instead of text. Help

So my friend that I text with occassionaly has left Apple for Android (i know right?). Anyway, we had a nice little iMessage session going but now that she has continued texting me from her android, my iPhone insists on replying via iMessage and will not switch to text. I've deleted the thread, deleted her as a contact, restarted my phone, typed in just her number for the text, but alas, it still tries to send it as an iMessage.

It doesn't affect what she sends you. What happens is that when you reply, iMessage checks Apple's servers and finds a device active with her phone number, so it tries to send it as an iMessage. iMessage is tied to the phone number as well as an e-mail address.
Tell her to try this:
Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
Click on "edit products"
Click on the "x" to the right of the product.
Click "unregister"
