Downloading a pdf file-  Help

Hey guys...
Not sure if it's related, but I did the recent updates and seem to have trouble downloading a .pdf file from the web.
The PDF opens as a webpage, which is very small, and NOT as a seperate file on to my desktop, as it has always done in the past.
Any step by step ideas on how to fix.
Thanks

For example:
http://www.musicalfidelity.com/mf/en/News/reviews.jsp?
pid=4028 when the page/pdf loads, you cannot
increase the image size with Apple + key commands,
thus making the page unreadable.
Maybe this does not give what you want, but in Safari I was able to use the CONTROL-click Zoom In command to increase the size.
EDIT: oops! I see this has been mentioned more than once. Sorry.

  • Download/Open .pdf files with Windows 8.1 - Help needed urgently!

    Hi, all. I hope this is not a stupid question, but can someone please help with downloading/opening .pdf files?
    I am running Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, latest version (no updates available) on a Windows 8.1 platform. When I attempt to download a .pdf file (ANY .pdf file!), my system gives me this error message -
    "Adobe Acrobat does not support Internet Explorer's 64-bit mode. Either install the latest version of Adobe Reader, or disable 64-bit mode in Internet Explorer"
    I find this baffling. If I could find a later version of Reader than what I have, I would like to try it - but, Adobe updates tells me I have the latest version of Reader. Also, as above, I have the latest version of Acrobat - if Reader could support 64-bit, surely Acrobat XI Pro could?
    Can some kind person please help?

    Hi Peter,
    (I updated your title, so now help is indeed, "needed," and not "nedded." Been there myself plenty of times.)
    In any case, is it possible that you're running Reader X, and have the latest updates of that? If so, please consider downloading Reader XI, and make sure you're running version 11.0.07. And, this document offers instructions for setting up your browser to display PDFs when you're using Acrobat XI or Reader XI: Acrobat Help | Display PDF in browser | Acrobat, Reader XI
    Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,

  • Help!My Acrobat XPro crashed after I downloaded a pdf file but it saved itself as .ASPX

    Hi,
    As said, I downloaded a pdf file from web and liked to save it , but it saved itself as .ASPX. I was unaware of this, then I found the saved files could not be opened by XPro, and within second, the XPro failed to boot up.
    I uninstalled the program, used the cleaning software, and tried to reinstall Acrobat X again. But this time, it did not work!
    Very frustrated!! The disk showed that I had the XPro installed and did not enable reinstallation.
    Please help, my assignment due day is coming!!!
    Attached the summary report:-
    Many thanks in advance!

    From the screen shot of your install log it appears you received a 1603 error.  Please try the steps listed in Error 1603 | Install | CS5 products - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1603-install-cs5-products.html.
    You may also want to review your install logs in greater detail by following the steps listed at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.
    Finally your initial issue sounds more like an issue with the site you were trying to download the PDF from.  Instead of offering you a PDF they offered you an ASPX file.  I would try a different web browser once you have Acrobat reinstalled.  It is either an issue with the site or your web browser.  Try a different web browser if the problem continues.

  • Reader 11.0.2 does not automatically launch upon download of .pdf file

    My OS is Windows 7, my browser is Firefox 19.0.2.  It used to be that when I downloaded a .pdf file, Adobe Reader would launch automatically and display the text, ready to read.  Now the Reader no longer launches automatically; I have to go to the Tools > Downloads list and double-click on the desired file before the Reader will open it.  I can't recall if this problem started when I upgraded the Reader to 11.0.2.  I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled and rebooted again - no luck.  Can anyone advise?  Thanks.

    Hi,
    You can control how Firefox handles each type of file by going into Firefox > Preferences > Applications.
    Please find Portable Document Format from the list and select Adobe Reader as an application.
    Please check the screenshot:

  • How do I upgrade Adobe reader - currentlyevery time I try to download a PDf file on my macpro I get a grey screen  and a dialog box that says adobe reader is blocked for this website...

    Help - a couple of weeks ago I tried up upgrade adobe reader but it never completed loading as far as I can find / that night would never finish
    ( how would I know , where would I check?)
    now every time I need to download a PDF file ( dental claim forms tonight) I get a grey screen with a dialog box that says Adobe reader blocked for this site
    and that happens on any site where I am trying to download a PDF…?

    What is your operating system?  Reader version?  Downloading from what browser?

    g -
    I was able to fix the problem with some help from Apple. Whenever I last downloaded Reader, I apparently didn’t complete the process by accepting the Reader contract. I was able to go right to that point in the process and complete the installation. The messages that I needed Reader but it was already installed were quite confusing. It would have been nice if the Adobe installation process that I was re-trying this morning had been able to detect a partial installation. The Troubleshooting page almost had me doing some ridiculous things that wouldn’t have helped.

  • Download to PDF File

    Hi all,
    I want to download .pdf file (just like we download eg. .txt file using FM 'GUI_DOWNLOAD', I have to download a .pdf file). I tried with the same FM, but whenever I am trying to  open the file, it's giving error. Anybody any idea? Is it possible to download to .pdf simply using  GUI_DOWNLOAD?
    If yes, any special parameter needs to be passed?
    Thanks
    Sandip

    First you need to mark your post as a question.  There should be something on your screen that says,  "Mark as a Question".   Check this box.  This will turn on the points system for your post.  You can give points according to how helpful the answers are.  And you can give 10 points for answer that solved your problem.  Doing this "closes" the thread.
    Please see this as it will explain further.

  • Adobe Acrobat Add-On 11.0.6.70 will not allow me to download a .pdf file. Disabling the Add-On allows me to download the .pdf.

    I attempted to download a .pdf file and open it with Adobe Add-On 11.0.6.70 in FF 25.0.1 and got a message that the file was damaged and could not be repaired. I called the site's Tech Support and they requested that I try the download with another (Ugh!) browser and the download worked. I went back and disabled the Adobe Add-On in FF and the download worked in FF also. Not sure who developed the Add-On but whoever did so, left a bug in the process.

    HI central_texan,
    Please update to the latest version of Firefox by going to the About Firefox in the Firefox menu. If downloads hang at the last minute (just before reaching 100%), the cause might be antivirus software which tries to scan the file and during that process hangs the Firefox instance. It may also happen when the download becomes corrupt. What I want to know is in the System Requirements what " Firefox Extended Support Release" means.
    In order to fix the problem, try disabling the scanning as follows:
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page. A list of settings should appear
    # Filter the list by typing in the search bar at the top. Type in ''scanWhenDone''. You should now find the '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone''' preference.
    #Double-click on that preference to set the value to ''false''.
    #Next, try to download something and see if it still hangs.
    Please reply and tell us whether this helped you!

  • Login and download a .pdf file

    The company I work for has electronic manuals in .pdf format on a company website. Some manuals are updates once per week.
    Is it possible to have Automator:
    1. Automatically login to the company website
    2. Locate and download the .pdf files
    3. Save the files in a specified location on my computer.
    4. Logoff the website.
    Thanks.

    You can create a pretty great login system using nothing more
    than the
    server behaviors that ship with Dreamweaver. Pick your server
    model and
    read the docs in the HELP section to get started.

  • Safari 3 quits as soon as I download a .pdf file

    I've just downloaded the Beta of Safari 3, running on my 12" Powerbook (10.4.10, 1.25Gb RAM, 1.5GHz processor). Now, whenever I try to download a .pdf file from any site, the browser crashes without warning or error message.
    Three questions:
    1. Anyone else having the same problem?
    2. Anyone got an answer to it?
    and, assuming the answer to (2) is 'no',
    3. How do I re-install the latest version of Safari before the Beta 3?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Right - apologies for posting the wrong forum for a start... Should have looked around and spotted the Beta forum.
    Secondly, problem now solved:
    Moved the "AdobePDFViewer.plugin" from HD>Library>Internet PlugIns to

  • How to download a .pdf file from a JavaMail application?

    hi to all,
    iam unable to download a .pdf file from a mailserver using
    my javamail application.i have downloaded all kind of files except .pdf.
    my code snipnet:
    public static void dumpPart(Part p) throws Exception {

              if (o instanceof String) {
                   System.out.println("This is a String");
                   System.out.println((String)o);
                   } else if (o instanceof Multipart) {

                             System.out.println("CONTENT-TYPE: " + p.getContentType());
                             dumpPart(mp.getBodyPart(i));
                        } else if (o instanceof InputStream) {

                             InputStream is = (InputStream)o;

                                  //System.out.write(c);
                                  fos.write((char)c);
    }//dumpPart
    what's wrong with this code?
    Nagaraju.G

    fos.write((char)c);Converting the byte to a char is unnecessary and probably harmful. Just do this: fos.write(c);
