Downloading a video

So to give some background first:
I personally have a Nexus 7. Our family has a shared iPad. I downloaded a video on my N7, then decided I wanted to also download it on the iPad so I could watch it on the bigger screen.
It was a video that I downloaded from MediaFire. On my N7, all I did was click the download button, it downloaded, and then it showed up in the Movie Player app among my other videos and I watched it from there.
When I used the iPad, clicking on the download button instead started playing the video within the browser itself. I looked and clicked around this screen for an option to download, but I couldn't find it. So I went back to the MediaFire page and long-pressed on the download button, expecting a "Save File" option to appear. Instead, there was just "Open", "Open in New Tab", and "Copy Link URL".
Confused, I tried downloading another browser from the App Store (Chrome) and tried again, with the same results.
So now I'm clueless. There must be a way to download this video, it wouldn't make sense otherwise, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Am I missing something obvious here?

Tested the video with GoodPlayer (a media player app with excellent connectivity & streaming features and support). Works just fine for downloading videos.
This is what you need to do:
- get GoodPlayer ( http://itunes.apple.com/app/goodplayer/id416756729?mt=8 )
- tap the Arrow link at the bottom right corner and select Downloader & Browser
- copy the full MF link to the browser
- tap the download button (as usual) and, then, select "Download" from the displayed context menu.
Then, downloading will start. You'll be able to watch the video any time - and also send it to other apps / access it via iTunes File Sharing.

After upgrading OS 3.1.3 to iOS4, My iPod Touch (2nd Generation) can no longer download such video podcasts as NBC News, CBS News, ABC News and Cranky Geeks from iTunes store. The moment the download starts, there is always an annoying prompt "this video cannot be played on this iPod".
    It's really frustrating!!!

Same thing happening to mine also, still cant find a reason.

  • ITunes 6.0.1.3 downloads a video 100%, then fails with "An Unknown Error"

I've downloaded several videos from ITMS but the most recent one I've purchased will complete the download process and then fail. I've tried "check for purchases" several times and always get the same result - download the ~200 MB file, then fail when the progress bar is full.
I've tried disabling Grisoft AntiVirus, defragmenting the hard drive, chkdsk for errors (no errors), but I keep getting the same thing every time - about 8 tries):
    [Red X graphic]
There was an error downloading your purchased music.
    An unknown error occurred (0xFFFE7958).
Use the Check for Purchased Music command in the Advanced menu to try again later.
    [OK]
I don't use iTunes for music - just for video downloads.
    Any ideas?

    Same problem here!!!
Three times I tried to download the D.Housewives and three times it failed. I did the check the purchased and was able to start again but everytime it got to either 99% or 100% it failed with a error but on the third time it failed I guess it triggered something and it no longer shows as Purchased Music. I contacted Apple and they told me I am out of luck!
Good thing my Ipod is less then 30 days old as it is going back to the store.
Here is their response after taking my $1.99 but no delivering the product!!!

When I connect the RCA Small Wonder to my MacBook Pro, the device is recognized in finder as EZ201.  I tried to copy the video files in the folder but within a minute or two, I receive a message that the disk was ejected improperly, even though the device is still connected.  I was able to download the first few videos before it stopped working and was able to play them using Perian.  However, when I tried to connect the device again, it froze my system and I had to force a shut down by turning the computer off. Why is the device initially recongized but then shows as improperly ejected when it is still connected? How can I download the videos if the MacBook Pro won't allow the device to stay connected?

A picture of a screen that suggests my new MBP Retina never connects to the "Macbook Pro backup ("StefanTimeCapsule")
This is the one that has the files for the backups procured by the Time Machine program. But it can't "connect"-- You 'll see int he sideways pic (sorry!) that the options STILL says "connecting"
Do i have to make these Time Machines more open to connection?

I can see the video. I want to download it and save in my computer to see it again.
I have download helper. While the 3 red, blue, and yellow sphere are turning, It gives me the choice of place to save, and when I click and choose desktop , for example, this message comes ."Conversion requires an external application that appears to be missing on your system. No, this reply is not helpful. It simply generates this little gem:
"This service requires the conversion feature to be enabled.

And the same clicking on buttons that makes nothing happen and going around in circles with the escape key.

  • I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open

I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from an external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. While setting up my new MAC the external hard drive was dropped and I have been told by an outside source they could not retrieve the files.  It had 4 years of photos and videos on it. I remembered that I had downloaded some of the videos from the external hard drive (before it was broke) to Adobe Organizer 13 when I installed the Adobe 13 on my MACOS X 10.9.5.  I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open these videos?
Any input is greatly appreciated!! I am sick over losing the videos and had a little hope on Adobe Organizer until I was unable to open them.  I am thinking it is due to my external hard drive not being plugged in. I thought when I transferred from the external hard drive to Adobe 13 that it would be there without the external hard drive needing to be attached but maybe I did something wrong.
    Thanks again for any help!!!!

It had 4 years of photos and videos on it.
To what did your camera record those photos and videos - camera's internal memory, inserted memory card, other?
Any remote chance that the latter may still exist for you to use to download the camera files to your new external hard drive?

  • A Video Site I've Gone To For Years (Liveleak), Never With Firefox, When I Click To Play The Video, Downloads Box Pops Up And Says I'm Downloading The Video.

So I Go To The Site, Everything Loads Properly And Quickly, Click The Video I Want To Watch, That Video Page Comes Up, Once Again, Quickly And Properly. So I Click The Play Button To Play The Video And The "Downloads" Box For Firefox Pops Up And Shows That I'm Downloading The Video. That's Great If I Want To Download The Video, But I Don't, I Just Want To Watch It There On The Site. I Just Now Downloaded Firefox Because I've Heard So Many Great Things About It. This Site (Liveleak) Was The First Site I Went To After Downloading, So It's Of To A Bad Start With Me For Firefox. This Site Works Fine In Internet Explorer No Problems Whatsoever, So Its Not The Site.

Sounds that you are missing the plugin that is used to play those videos embedded in Firefox.<br />
Your system details list doesn't show any media player plugin, so you will either have to check if the plugin(s) are installed, but disabled or install missing plugins.

You may need the new WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll) because Flash always uses a dedicated player to play the videos and would never offer to save videos directly unless an extension is used.

Are you trying to print through the airport express wirelessly or the built in wireless of the lexmark? If you want to use the airport express, there is no need to mess with the wireless printing on the lexmark at all. The airport express will be easy to set up, all the wireless setups through the printers are a pain.

  • How to download youtube videos to ipad without using a computer.

How to download youtube videos to ipad without using a computer???  Looking to download some videos people created using Dr. Jean music.  My kid used Dr. Jean in preschool and wanted to keep singing them at home.
Looking for a friend that doesn't use a computer.  I myself have downloaded some kids educational stuff and added to itunes and then put on ipod/ipad using firefox.
Is there an easy way, so they don't go to the photo roll??
    thanks in advance.

There are some Apps you can use, but be careful they will only download these videos inside the App, so you won't ba able to play them in your video app or share them.
Most popular is the app called "Video Download" but there are a lot of alternatives for free and even with more quality which you can pay for.

  • Looking For a Download Any Video App iMac

All I want to do is download any video using an app that works with an iMac.  is there such an animal? Thanks for any help

Well, let's not wait for the future.  Here it is: On Firefox you can download a video helper and install it. That enables you to go any site on the internet with video. If you want to download a video  to your desktop, let's say, you look for the swirling rainbow color balls, and next to it is a symbol that when you click on it  reveals the video playing. You click the video title, and it is downloaded to your desktop if you so choose that location.  Can I do that with Safari?  Can I go on the internet and look for the equivalent download helper for mac?  I don't want to always download videos using Firefox, though it's very easy....Thanks

  • "Activity window" in Safari no longer works to download YouTube videos. Why not? Workaround?

For years I have used Apple's recommended standard technique whenever I wanted to download a Flash video embedded in a YouTube page to my hard drive:
    - Open a YouTube page and click on the video's "play" button to get it started;
    - Press command-option-A to then open up Safari's "Activity Window" which lists all the components of the page;
    - Find on the list the component for the loading Flash video, which is usually much larger (measured in MB rather than KB) than all the other components, and also is usually still in the process of loading, so it's easy to spot;
    - Double-click the component's name on the list in the Activity Window, and voila, the video downloads to my hard drive.
This "trick" is described everywhere as THE standard way to download YouTube videos (and similar page components); and I have used it successfully for many years.
HOWEVER, sometime very recently (not sure when, exactly -- a few weeks or months ago) YouTube has changed the way its pages are coded, so that this technique no longer works. When I open the Activity Window, instead of seeing one large loading video file that's easily identifiable, I see a whole series of large files, all exactly 1.7mb big (no matter how large the file size of the actual video in question is), and they constantly increase in number -- at first there are two such files, but over the seconds and minutes more and more appear. Furthermore, many files with no named size are constantly loading and then disappearing. And here's the whole point: I've tried double-clicking on ALL of these files, dozens of ways on dozens of YouTube pages, and none of the are the video file I seek and none of them cause the file to  download to my hard drive.
If I click on one the mysterious 1.7mb components, I indeed get a ".flv" downloaded to my hard drive, but it's not actually a Flash video; clicking on its downloaded file icon just brings up a blank box or an error message saying that it's not really a video file at all. I think it's some sort of "decoy" file or something to do with streaming Flash code.
To see what I mean, just go to YouTube, load any random video page, and then open Safari's Activity WIndow and try to download the video that way.
This happens on an iMac running Safari 5.1 on OSX 10.6.8, and also on a MacBook Pro running Safari 5.0.2  on OSX 10.6.5, and on a few other new-ish Macs I tested it out on, but failed to note their version numbers.
I'm presuming that this problem is not specific to my computer, but is caused by the way that YouTube altered the background code for their pages. I don't know if the glitch is an intentional attempt by YouTube to prevent downloads, or if it is an accidental "bug" of the new code. Either way:
How can I fix the problem? Is there some other lesser-known built-in way for Safari/Mac to download the new kind of YouTube videos? Or is there some reliable freeware or shareware or plug-in or extension or whatever for Safari that would enable YouTube downloading?
I tried a freeware program called "Evom" that was highly touted, but it too was thwarted by the new YouTube code and failed to extract any videos from the YouTube page, even though that's what the application was designed to do.
As a side note, I will say that I also have (though rarely use) FireFox for Mac, and the "Unplug" plug-in installed on it, and that ALSO "broke" recently and no longer has the capacity to recognize or download YouTube videos, even though previously it worked fine. This is why I think the issue is not specific to my set-up or computer, but is due to a change in YouTube's underlying code.)
Any help with an explanation, solution or workaround would be much appreciated (by me and by millions of others who I assume are facing the same problem!).

    Carolyn:
I just now did exactly as you recommended. Result? No change.
Even after trashing the files and restarting and everything else, the Activity Window and YouTube behave exactly as they did before.
(I had actually previously tried something very similar to your recommendation, and it didn't have any effect then either.)
In case it's helpful, here's an example of what one of the mystery components that load endlessly in the Activity Window is listed as:
    http://s.youtube.com/s?rendering=software&lact=102489&decoding=&rt=112.382&et=11 0.829&tsphab=1&st=69.939&tspne=0&tspfdt=262&nsiabblmin=62945.000&nsidf=2&tabsb=1 &ad_flags=0&h=360&nsiabblmean=72646.865&md=1&docid=zPxFu7taftE&bc=15194849&csipt =watch5ad&ad_event=3&el=detailpage&hasstoryboard=1&vid=72A5TVVpDgRoXDV3HvMeKPjLx BFdU61DC&fmt=34&cr=US&sd=BD075E8E6HH1336502192683396&vtmp=1&nsiabblmax=79054.000 &hl=en_US&ns=yt&nsivbblmax=774478.000&referrer=None&sidx=0&hbd=7790924&w=480&hbt =2.751&cid=6&sendtmp=1&sst=0&cfps=25.974025974025974&screenw=1440&mt=0.6&vq=auto &playerw=640&playerh=390&slots=sst~0;sidx~0;at~2_3&scoville=1&at=2_3&volume=100& art=1.842&mos=0&plid=AAS_iqoqfi0mjNc0&fs=0&nsivbblc=208&nsivbblmin=561638.000&bd =931267&allowed=1_1,1_3,2_1,2_3&bt=7.441&fvid=bNz97ILtwqc&screenh=900&len=127.92 &vw=480&nsivbblmean=668895.024&nsiabblc=208&vh=360&fexp=912001,914050,913539,919 306,907217,901802,906507

I got a new iPod nano 7th gen, but when i tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Soem of the videos in your iTunes library were not copied to yor iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. What should I do?

I kept having a similar problem - 3 out of the 10 videos I had on iTunes wouldn't sync. They were in the right format and I KNEW they worked on my iPod because I'd RECORDED them on my iPod. I finally figured out what to do! Go to the movies in your iTunes library. Click on one that does not sync. Click on "Advanced" at the top of iTunes and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". Once that's finished, be sure you delete the old version so you don't keep getting the error (or have 2 copies of the same video) and sync. This should eliminate the problem. At least it did for me!

  • Cannot Download iTunes Video

I just got an iPod Video, and I was trying to download a video off iTunes, but this message keeps coming up:
There was an error downloading your purchased music. The Disk could not be read from or written to.
Any ideas about what I should do? Thanks a ton!

This is not a problem with your download. This is a problem with your iPod. You have what is commonly called a disk write error. The following link gives troubleshooting suggestions. My thought is, if the iPod is that brand new I would be taking it back to where it was purchased. Let us know how you're doing.

  • Basics of Downloading a Video-Videora Steps Simplified

Okay, I've noticed many an iPod fan come up here with such topics as "PLEASE HELP ME1!!!!!!" and found this:
I don't know how to download a video to my iPod Video.
No matter if you have a Mac or Windows computer, you need not waste your money on QT Pro or any other strange thing to download for money like that. Videora iPod Converter does all this for you. Here's the link:
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
And here's the basic steps if this confuses you:
    1. After you've followed most of the complicated steps of the settings, open the DVD Decrypter. Most of the settings there are still saved, except for one thing.
    2. Go to the "Stream Processing" tab, check Enable and all you need are the first two checks: Video and Audio. The rest are unnecessary and will probably cause unneeded space.
    3. Choose a destination for the file. The best place for is in "My Videos" under "My Documents" if you're a Windows user. Do this by clicking on the folder with the magnifying glass.
    4. Click "DVD to Hard Drive" (shown as icons). If there's a problem with the file (it's already there) click Rename. This might show up a couple times depending on whether you have multiple videos in the folder.
    5. After you've finished that, go into Videora iPod Converter. Click the convert button on the left.
    6. Click "Transcode New Video". Remember what file you converted last, as it gets confusing. To the left you'll see Title where you can rename the file to whatever you want.
    7. Click the quality profile to be MPEG-4/320x240/768kbps Stereo/Etc.
    8. After it's completed, open iTunes. Click File, Add File to Library...and then open My Videos and the renamed file in .mp4 format. It should copy into iTunes and into Videos on its' own.
    9. Update iPod and you're done. If there are any other problems, read over the steps shown or complain in the Discussions board--remember to be specific on your problems!
