Downloading Abobe Reader to a Mac

I need to get Reader on my MacBook Pro that's running OS 10.6.8 (Mountain Lion).
Which version of Reader should I download for that OS?
Are there any particular problems to be aware of?
Thanks a lot.

You can download an offline installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
The latest build is fully compatible with Mountain Lion (10.8.4)... at least it is on my mini.
If you have any troubles viewing PDFs in Safari:
Download the offline installer
Quit Safari (Cmd+Q)
Go to Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin file
Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin file
Empty the Trash
Run the installer
Reboot
You should be OK after that

I have a macbook pro w/OS V10.9.5;  I've downloaded acrobat reader XI for mac (I've also installed Micrsort office XI for mac).  PDF files won't open for reading;  videos of granddaughter from daughter's iphone won't play...two separate problems.  Help!  Not very learned about computer semantics and processing functions.

  • Downloading adobe reader x to Mac

I have been trying to download adobe reader x to my Mac (10.5.8) and each time it downloads adobe reader 9. I'm wanting the comments and highlighter function when I'm reading pdf files. Can anyone assist me wtih this?
    Thanks
    Jayne

    Hi Jayne,
If you open http://get.adobe.com/readerin Safari in 10.5.8, it should automatically ask you to download Reader X. If you are facing any problem, you can also use ftp link - ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/10.x/10.0.1/en_US/
    This is English language reader.
If you want it for other languages, download version 10.0 from ftp site - ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/10.x/10.0.0/ and select appropriate language.
You can always update your reader by using Help -> Check for Updates in Reader menu
Comments and highlighting functionality is available in Reader X. It is not available in Reader 9
    Thanks,
    Karan

  • I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER FOR MY MAC (ID AND PASSWORD DOES NOT WORK)

I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER FOR MY MAX (ID AND PASSWORD DOES NOT WORK

This seems to cause a certain amount of confusion. Your Adobe ID is not used to download or install Adobe Reader.
But when you install any software you are likely to need your own computer's administrator password. This password was chosen by you (or someone) the first time the computer was switched on, and is used to protect the system against bad things.

  • Downloading Abobe Reader X

Having trouble getting Adobe Reader X to load on my desktop computer. When installing I get an Error Message.  Error1311 Source File not found.  C:\Programdata\adobe\setup\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AA10000000001}\Data1.cab I have check my files using the search program and no such file was shown. On my laptop, I have no trouble with Adobe Reader X version 10.1.5 and that file does not show up whrn I do a search for it.  Can you suggest a solution for my dedsktop computer.  In the past, I have had the adobe reader x on the desktop without any problems. The probblem is evident when I try to call up a site as an attachment on my email such as youtube and when I try to get detailed infromation from my on line banking or getting statements from eTrade.

download and run the cleaner: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and install the latest reader version.  it's free:  http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Is it the Download assistant that is freezing or is it the web browser that freezes?

downloaded acrobat reader 11 onto my Mac Book Pro, it can open the file but will not print. Get a message that says PDF cannot be printed, however, I forwarded it to someone else and they could print it, no problem. I called HP and spent an 1hour with them and then called Apple support and worked with them for 3 hours. No one can figure it out. Is there something wrong with this version? the pdf was created in 2004. Do I have to pay to get Acrobat?

Let me give you a slightly different perspective than everyone else here.  You are using an unsecured wireless network, which means that all your network traffic is easily available for viewing by anyone else using that network.  That's bad.  Very bad, for you, unless you absolutely trust everyone who lives within range of this network.  So stop doing it.
As to the Mac not connecting, wireless networking is simply too complex for any reasonable answer without more information.  There are many possible error points, and as often as not it's the Mac that can connect and the Windows PC that cannot.  Since you can't give us any information about the configuration of the neighbor's network, and can't make any changes to it, we can't do much to help you troubleshoot it.
