Downloading abroad!

HI everyone Ive got a problem with downloading music on iTunes Music Store. I mean that in France (where I have an account) I can download but if I want to download in Japan I can't. Does anyone know if there is a way to download on a different country store??? Thanx!

you cant you have to have an accoune registered there i.e. you have to have a credit card registered in that country or you have to go there and buy a music card and then it should work but besides that there is nothing that you can do about it. sorry

Movie downloads abroad

Unable to download Rental movies and was assuming it was due to fact I'm in Turkey...dwnlds were fine in Cali before I left. When I tap to retry on dwnld error message it makes attempt only to stop just shy of complete process. I have 24hrs free wifi at hotel and wanted to get movies before I'm not within wifi area....as well I'm now paying for 3 rentals I can't watch?

This is just a user to user board. You'll need to contact iTunes Store customer service and request a refund because of service disconnections:

Unfortunately, since it may take up to 72 hours to get a response, it doesn't sound like they'll be able to switch your rentals to the right store in the limited amount of time you have left, and I think you should just ask for a refund on those movies, and in the future ask for the movies to be registered to the country you are going to well before you travel.

I want to preorder a book that will be available this fall, but I'll be living abroad for a short time when it's available for download. Will the book download for me while I'm living abroad, or do I have to wait to get back to my country?

Specifics are: Currently living in the U.S. and will be studying abroad for a semester this fall in London. I want to preorder a book that comes out in October and be able to read it while I'm over there, but I don't know if the book will download for me since I won't be living in the U.S. Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing?

Thanks for your concern M.r kamran well, i am doing OCA or certification for 11g i thought its the latest thing i am really new in this field and have no idea about this world..as you said that the book i m reading which is ...Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-051)..you said that this is book is enough but the thing is i am not satisfied there are only one lab question and 10 MCQS after each chapter which is i think is not enough to clear the exam...so the problem is i need some material or work book any exam patern or something like that ..where to buy them or how will i get approach of these things? so please if anyone knows where to get those things and how..i will be so much thankfull ..

At the time, Apple was still offering the e-chat, so I did that and the man was very helpful and it was a quick fix, so my download button turned green again, and I was able to begin the download. BUT during the download, I was kicked offline once again, and I decided to wait until I was back in the USA. I will go in to an Apple store and ask assistance, but if there is something I am missing, I'd like to try that first. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Depending on what format the video is in (and therefore whether it's supported either natively or via an app that you've got on the iPad), then you might be able to :
Open an attached file Touch and hold the attachment, then choose an app to open it. If none of your apps support the dile, and it isn't one that QuickLook supports, you can see the name of te file but you can't open it.
Save an attached photo or video Touch and hold the photo or video, then tap Save Image or Video. The item is saved to your Camera Roll album in the Photos app.

You can ONLY buy from the itunes store of your country of residence ( proven by the valid billing address on your credit card) and ONLY while inside the borders of that country.

Impossible complete downloading while traveling abroad

I did rent a movie before to start a travel abroad (my store is the US store). I then had troubles with connection and download was incomplete. Now the download just doesn't want to resume. I'm using an iPad and no meaningful message appears, just a generic error with any code.

Thanks for the replies but as I said there is no apple store with in Ireland with a guru bar (whole country!) therefore not an option! Using my boot disk I can get into recovery and it will allow me to download M/L (again for 30-40mins) then it will not install it properly! I have tried some other options today including deleting the app store cache with the reg command: open $TMPDIR../C/ - didn't help my "This Copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion Application can’t be verified". I just can not understand why it will not just let me reinstall software I have paid for on a computer I have bought...especially as it allowed me to creat a boot disk with that same software (which I am now using to type this!).
ANy further help would be hugely appreciated.

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app. Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows. If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again. Make sure you transfer purchases first. Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

When roaming (abroad) better to use G-mail via Safari? (less data download?

Hi - if i go abroad (from the UK) with the iPhone - given the charges per megabyte of data - am I better off having emails from my normal ISP mail accounts forwarded to Gmail (or similar) and then use Safari to go to Gmail to check my emails (rather than accessing my 'regular' Mail accounts on the phone) - i am guessing this method means you are downloading a lot less (in my case I receive LOADS of spam i would rather not be paying to download into my iPhone mailbox)

Want not those download TB onto 2nd PC to take abroad. Plus all personanal folders not just those supplied

I have ThunderBird on my desk top PC and I want to emulate the same on my laptop so that I can take it abroad with all my personal folders. The standard folders are Inbox. Sent, Archive, Trash, Deleted. I have personal folders containing previous emails relating to such as Purchases, Jokes, Political, various Club details and members, School History. I am not worried about the Email Address Book as I regularly export these to a stick and carry that abroad seperately

How to download media to an iPad from a shared account?

Hi guys,
My family has several Apple computers with different Apple IDs. To enable my family to view the media content on my machine I have enabled the "Family Sharing" feature within the OS. We all can enjoy the movies and music that I have collected however my wife is leaving to travel abroad for a long trip and wishes to take along with her some of our movies and music. Even with our sharing enabled I don't see a way to actually copy media to her iPad.
I have have however, noticed on all our iPads under the "Movies" tab we have several movies in our collection with the iCloud symbol in the lower right corner. Those files can be transferred to her iPad, but they only represent a small percentage of our library. My question is how can I manage my iCloud content so that I can copy more media to my wife's iPad?

It sounds like you want to download iTunes Store content to your wife's iPad using Family Sharing, but all of your content isn't visible.
Be sure to use the steps in the "Download content from family members" section of this article when accessing your family's shared content:
Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing - Apple Support
If you don't see all of your purchases, make sure that they are not hidden in your iTunes Store account:
If a family member has hidden one of their items, no one in their family can see it. Your family member can unhide those items if they want to.

Is there a way of knowing what was downloaded/received by an iphone at a given time?

A week ago I was abroad and kept data roaming at all times to avoid surprises. However, at some point I had to use data roaming for sending a message and unfortulately something of around 24MB was downloaded. Before that my data roaming consumption was below 1MB. I would like to contest this charge but for that I would have to know what was downloaded. My guess is that probably a pending app update was the cause of this but I would like to be sure. Is there a way of finding out details of network usage history?

This is indeed possible, at least in the newer versions I use.

Podcasts no longer downloading overseas

I am writing with a question about iTunes use in Turkey. I am an American
living abroad in Turkey and before December 2010 was downloading several
US-based podcasts via iTunes to listen to on my iPod touch. Since December,
however, many of the podcasts I listen to will not download anymore. Some of
the podcasts I can no longer download through iTunes are "Savage Love" and
"This American Life". Others, however, such as "The Moth" have continued to download without a problem.
This is not a problem unique to me or my computer or my version of iTunes
(which is the latest version). Several of my expatriate friends also used to
download podcasts via iTunes and since December have no longer been able to.
We have all searched Google for what the problem may be but not a single one
of us can find a solution.
I am wondering if you know why this has happened. It's not a problem with
the individual podcasts -- as I mentioned, there are several podcasts that
we can no longer download -- and I do think it is an iTunes issue. When I
attempt to restart downloading, for example "Savage Love", I get the error
message "err = -3259". However, the usual solutions to this type of problem
listed on your website -- updating to the latest version of iTunes (I have
already done this), and turning off the firewall (this doesn't help and in
any case is not a good long-term solution to have the firewall turned off)

Has the download of podcasts in Turkey been banned for some reason that I am not aware of? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

The cloud icon indicates it has not downloaded. Clicking the cloud icon will force it to download.
If the settings are set to download, then it should be doing that. It may help to unsubscribe and then subscribe to one or two of the affected podcasts to see if that forces the downloads. This should not be necessary though.
