Downloading Adobe Reader 9.0 to no avail ....

I am trying to install adobe reader 9.0 for windows vista premium 32 bit version on my computer using internet explorer 7.0. However eveytime I try to download it from adobe the download freezes in under a second and explorer resets itself. If I then try to resume download from the desktop, the explorer freezes and closes this time! I have even tried to close explorers protected mode but that does not help either. Aside from this just three days ago I installed Adobe shockwave player from www.adobe.com and it installed without any problems and with it I also installed google toolbar. Now when I try to download the reader, in the options to download the toolbar does not apper but when I begin the download the toolbar download is also taking place. How can I resolve this problem? Please Help me out.

  • I cannot download Adobe Reader app using my IPod Touch 4th Generation due to iOS upgrade.

    I have an IPod Touch 4th Generation (the older model) and the highest operating system stops at iOS 6.1.6. Unfortunately, when I tried to download Adobe Reader app, it only works for the newer IPod Touch 5th Generation with an operating system of iOS 7.0 or higher. My question is that since I cannot download Adobe Reader app, is there a way for me to open PDF files on my IPod Touch by using Safari? There is no way I can find an Adobe Reader app that works for my operating system or an operating system that works for iOS 6.0 or lower. Is there another program similar to Adobe Reader where I can open PDF files that works for iOS 6.0 or lower?
    Thanks.

    Krispy2010,
    Please note that my instructions are intended for Adobe Reader for iOS, not for all iOS apps in general.
    Adobe Reader for iOS does offer earlier compatible versions for iOS 5 and 6 via the App Store.  Because the supported iOS version for Adobe Reader for iOS is 5 or later.

    However, I cannot speak for other apps, such as Costco app and NFL app that you have mentioned.  It is up to each individual app developer/company to decide whether to take advantage of Apple's App Store's features to offer earlier versions.
    Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
    If a compatible version isn't available, you can try contacting the app developer. Look for contact information on the app's product page in the App Store or Mac App Store.

  • We downloaded Adobe Reader XI and our PC no longer works properly.

    We run Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3, and use Internet Explorer 8.  We once were running a Trend Micro AntiVirus that seemed capable of producing some issues, but we believe it to be disabled.  Before downloading Reader XI, we were able to easily use PDF files in many ways.  When there was a web site we were using that offered us a look at a document, such as a statement, or a blank state government report form, we could click on it, and the pdf would pop up in a window associated with Explorer, where we could view it, and then decide whether to print it.  We can no longer do that.  We still can use some pdf's, but not pdf's that are made available to us via the Internet in that fashion.  A few weeks ago, upon startup, we saw a message on our desktop that we ought to download the latest Adobe Reader. We downloaded Adobe Reader XI. The problem immediately started. We uninstalled Reader XI. We reinstalled. The problem persisted immediately upon reinstall.  In between the uninstall and reinstall, we looked at our system attempting to find an older version of Reader we could reinstall in preference to XI, but we saw nothing under our Control Panel Install/Uninstall programs, and so nothing on our hard drive.  Now, when we attempt to click on a "View" hyperlink on many websites, the pop up window, that would have at one time showed us the document or pdf file, pops up blank, turns dark gray, and stays inert for 2 or 3 minutes, followed by the appearance of the error message stating that we have a problem with our programming, or, if the Reader is already running, shut it, and try again.  The reader is not already running.  We have tried rebooting and re-trying to view, but we get the same error message.  We have some old pdf's stored on our hard drive.  We can double click the file names and open and read and print the files in Reader XI.  We can also add new pdf's to our hard drive if they arrive as attachments to e-mails; or, if at a web site offering a view of a document we need, if the web site offers also an ALTERNATE hyperlink by which we may DOWNLOAD the file, then, we can get the file via download, and open it.  The Reader XI is not inoperable.  It will not work with various websites in Explorer 8 that offers a VIEW hyperlink rather than a DOWNLOAD hyperlink.  What can we do? If we download Google Chrome, will it work?

    Internet Explorer is, as we in the web design world call it, "the problem child" of browsers. It seems as the rest of the world embraces HTML 5 and CSS 3, Microsoft has been throwing a tantrum and hoping everyone will go back to 1998 standards... "It ain't gonna happen."
    Given that the view/download worked prior to installing the newest Reader, it's probably a matter of IE not working with the latest plugin. Since XP (which is just ten short months away from being "sunsetted" by Microsoft) won't work with IE9 or IE10, you're stuck with 8, and I'd recommend a "downgrade" to an older build, like 10 or even 9.
    First, you'll want to run the Adobe Cleaner to remove all traces of Reader XI.
    Then download the offline installer for 10 and reinstall.

  • Dev question: how to prevent Adobe Reader from copying pdfs to "Download/Adobe Reader"?

    I am making an app that downloads pdf files from a server and the users can decide to store them in the phone. Those files are kept in the app's private storage.
    The pdf files can be opened from inside the app. The problem is that every time a pdf is opened, adobe reader copies it in "Download/Adobe Reader" (the path may be different depending on the device and the android version). Those pdf files should not be available from outside my app. How can I prevent adobe reader from creating copies in that folder? Do I really have to make my app track them down and delete them? It wouldn't be the safest solution...
    In order to open the files, I se up a content provider:
    from the manifest:
    <provider
        android:name="android.support.v4.content.FileProvider"
        android:authorities="com.example.myapp.fileprovider"
        android:exported="false"
        android:grantUriPermissions="true" >
        <meta-data
            android:name="android.support.FILE_PROVIDER_PATHS"
            android:resource="@xml/filepaths" />
    </provider>
    And then, in a method, I do this:
    File pdfToRead = new File(pdfPath);
    Uri uri = FileProvider.getUriForFile(context, "com.example.myapp.fileprovider", pdfToRead);
    for (ResolveInfo resolveInfo : appsList) {
        String packageName = resolveInfo.activityInfo.packageName;
        context.grantUriPermission(packageName, uri, Intent.FLAG_GRANT_READ_URI_PERMISSION);
    openPDF(context, uri);
    public static final void openPDF(Context context, Uri localUri) {
        Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
        i.setDataAndType(localUri, PDF_MIME_TYPE);
        context.startActivity(i);
    Thanks for the help.

    Meh, I just hoped there was a way to tell acrobat "don't create a copy of the file because it's private". For now, I'm detecting the "downloads/Adobe Reader" folder, look if there's the file that was opened and delete it.
    Now I need to know something that I can't ask on stackoverflow: what paths does Adobe Reader use to create the "Adobe Reader" folder? Because not every device has an external sd card (external, not removable. Just for clarity). In my device it's at "Environment.getExternalStoragePublicDirectory(Environment.DIRECTORY_DOWNLOADS)+"/Adobe Reader".

  • Downloading Adobe Reader 11

    How do I download Adobe Reader 11. I have a 4 year old MacBook and it will only let me download the Adobe Reader 10.

    These are the system requirements for Reader 11:
    Intel® processor
    Mac OS X v10.6.4, v10.7.2, or v10.8
    1GB of RAM
    350MB of available hard-disk space
    1024x768 screen resolution
    Safari 5.1 for Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7.2; Safari 5.2 for Mac OS X v10.8; Safari 6.0 for Mac OS X v10.7.4 or v10.8
    Could be that your machine doesn't meet those requirements, so you're being offered the version that's compatible.

  • OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 error downloading Adobe Reader

    I have downloaded OS X 10.9.5 on my macbook pro and I am not able to download Adobe Reader. I have tried many times downloading it but it says there is an internal error.
    How do I fix this? I really need to be able to use Adobe Reader
    Lucy

    Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
    Test. After testing, restart as usual and post the results.

    Then try leaving the password field blank and hitting enter. If that doesn't work, you have a password (and would be beyond the help available in the Adobe forums).

  • Is it safe to download adobe reader for my macbook? i don't want any viruses to pop up

    can i download adobe reader for my macbook pro? is it safe or will i be at risk for viruses?

    You may be confusing Adobe Flash - which is known for security issues - with Adobe Reader perhaps.
    I think you are safe to download Adobe Reader. Always update the software when updates are available since many updates do include security fixes as well as bug fixes and any new features that have been added.
    I have always had some version of Adobe Reader on all of my Macs and have never had any virus, Trojan or Malware on any of them.

  • I have downloaded Adobe Reader into my MacBook Pro, now how do I activate Plug-Ins?

    I have downloaded Adobe Reader.  How do I activate Plug-Ins?

    I don't know what kind of plug-in I need to activate.  In fact I don't even know what a plug-in is.  All I know is that when I attempted to download some photos and a document, both from an outside source, a box appeared saying "missing plug-in."  I have used the the photo website many times before with no trouble.  The one clue I have is that the most recent attempt to download the photos said that I needed to update my Adobe Reader, which I did, but alas, to no avail.  Help!  Please!

  • Having a problem downloading Adobe Reader to my computer.

    I don't understand why I cannot simply download Adobe Reader X to my computer from Firefox. It says I am missing a plugin, then when it searches it says its not available, takes me to download something and then a ZIP file appears.
    I don't even know what to do with this ZIP file and this seems like a tedious process for downloading a simple file. I gave up, gave in and used GOOGLE CHROME to download the file and it was on my computer in less than a minute, so then I could load it onto my computer.
    Why is Firefox being so picky about something like this and why haven't they made this easier to download. I don't like using other programs like CHROME or IE for things like this, but I am forced to use them.
    I enjoy Firefox, but it's the "little foxes" like these that mess up the vineyard and makes it difficult to browse and download items with ease.
    Please make this easier for people to download. Make a plug-in available or something to where I do not have to mess around with ZIP files that I don't know what to do with.

  • How does one download Adobe Reader???

    This is not a blank message, what is wrong with this page

    I was trying to find a simple answer to how to download Adobe Reader.... The
    adobe reader download page would show me the download button, and I would
    click on it and it would change pages that had 4 dialog boxs' that said I
    may have to click on in order to enable to download activate x.... Well no
    download ever would start,,,, no boxs' would pop up, there was no start
    button on the page, there was no cancel download on the page, there was no
    navigational anything on the page and I sat waiting for hours and no
    download would ever start................I tried many many many many many
    times..Even deleted my Adobe Reader 8 and restart and still could never down
    an update,,,, I even tried to download Adobe 9.4 and still same thing. over
    and over, and over, and over...
    I typed the related messages in the forum related to my inquiry, and wrote
    the message in the required place, and it would always would come back and
    say no message was written the required inquiry, and I answered back
    multiple times yes I did write in the inquiry message..............Many,
    many, many, many times.
    Who ever the Moderator, or controler of the forums apparently did not like
    the questions I was trying to get answers to, and so now I will never, never
    trust Adobe or it's products, because for whatever reason they treated me
    like Sh*t...and would not allow my communication on the forums..
    I tried all day long to download Adobe reader with no success, so I went to
    Foxit.com and downloaded Foxit reader...
    Adobe sucks big time and I will encourage everyone I possibly can to never
    trust Adobe.
    Sorry if you were confused. Adobe's forum controllers or moderators what
    ever they are called are very dirty, and should be fired..
    My inquirys were nice and never, never, never any foul, or hostile language
    to anyone.
    As long as there are other PDF readers available I will never go back to
    Adobe for anything..
