Downloading adobe reader x to Mac

I have been trying to download adobe reader x to my Mac (10.5.8) and each time it downloads adobe reader 9. I'm wanting the comments and highlighter function when I'm reading pdf files. Can anyone assist me wtih this?
Thanks
Jayne

Hi Jayne,
If you open http://get.adobe.com/readerin Safari in 10.5.8, it should automatically ask you to download Reader X. If you are facing any problem, you can also use ftp link - ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/10.x/10.0.1/en_US/
This is English language reader.
If you want it for other languages, download version 10.0 from ftp site - ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/10.x/10.0.0/ and select appropriate language.
You can always update your reader by using Help -> Check for Updates in Reader menu
Comments and highlighting functionality is available in Reader X. It is not available in Reader 9
Thanks,
Karan

This seems to cause a certain amount of confusion. Your Adobe ID is not used to download or install Adobe Reader.
But when you install any software you are likely to need your own computer's administrator password. This password was chosen by you (or someone) the first time the computer was switched on, and is used to protect the system against bad things.

Is it the Download assistant that is freezing or is it the web browser that freezes?

I was able to fix the problem with some help from Apple. Whenever I last downloaded Reader, I apparently didn’t complete the process by accepting the Reader contract. I was able to go right to that point in the process and complete the installation. The messages that I needed Reader but it was already installed were quite confusing. It would have been nice if the Adobe installation process that I was re-trying this morning had been able to detect a partial installation. The Troubleshooting page almost had me doing some ridiculous things that wouldn’t have helped.

  • Downloading Adobe Reader on new I-Mac

I recently purchased an I-Mac and after downloading Adobe Reader a couple of times, I continue to get the message; "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser."  when trying to open PDF files.  Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?  This is getting really frustrating...

Make sure that Reader is closed, open your Applications folder, double click on the Adobe Reader icon, and follow the instructions.

  • New Apple I Mac won't download adobe reader.  Apple says it is adobe's problem

Does anyone know how i can download Adobe Reader on my new I Mac computer?  I get Step 1 and Step 2 done and then Step 3 takes me somewhere else.  I then close the
Safari browser and try to download the pdf.  I get a message saying that I need to agree to the end user's agreement and to re-download.  I try Step 1 and Step 2 and then i get a message saying that the download is finished.  I have tried downloading Adobe Reader many, many times and am tired and frustrated.  Apple one on one doesn't have a clue and says that the issue is with Adobe.  What gives?  I want to be able to continue with my life and not have to go back and buy a windows computer in order to use Adobe Reader.  HELP
