Downloading already bought music

Okay, so my computer crashed (again) and I finaly broke down and bought a new comp. However I discovered to my dismay that I was unabale to download music that I'd previously paid for. Having a comp that crashes more than once a year I'd already used my once a year "deathorize all". I have backups but they were made with itunes6 so they wont load. So, in short:
HOW DO I GET THE MUSIC I PAID FOR BACK!

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If you haven't made a backup, and don't have your tracks on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis, but don't count on it.

  • Downloading already bought music to library

I have a new computer and have downloaded itunes.  It shows my music with a cloud on the right side.  In order to get that music do I click on cloud?  Will it use up phone data if the phone is not connected to the computer or is it just using commputer data to download the songs to my computer?  Thank you

    Hi thompsonic,
If you are downloading them from iCloud to your computer, then your device does not come into play.....
You can also scroll down to the bottom of the page where the tunes are showing, and click on Download All of you want all of them.
    Cheers,

  • HT201272 why can't I re-download already purchased music from the itunes store?

why can't I re-download already purchased music from the itunes store?

What country are you in ? Re-downloading music isn't currently possible in all countries (the record companies need to agree to it for each country). If you are in a country where music can be re-downloaded, then if the tracks are still in the store then they should show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.

  • Why can't I download already purchased music onto my ipad mini

I can't download already purchased music. I've tried connecting to my Macbook but it doesn't recognise my ipad mini.

Try deleting the waiting app then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

If you have no back up of your purchases you can't simply download replacements. The policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
