Downloading and/or upgrading Flash Player with Windows 8.1 on EI

I have windows 8.1 and now receiving messages on EI to install Flash Player 11.1..
I tried several times and each time it goes around in circle and I get nowhere.
Please help...

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

    # Question
I want to download and install adobe flash player. When I do so one of 2 things occur. A dialog box appears but it has no run option but a save file or cancel option. The other is if the proper dialog box appears, I agree and the a different box appears and there is foxfire with a red circle with a diagonal line across is appears.

I find the easiest way to install Adobe Flash is to use the manual installers. You just need to download the installer to your computer, then run it to install Flash. For more details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller
That link states you should uninstall earlier versions, as you don't have the version of Flash used by Firefox you can skip that step.

  • I have downloaded and installed Adobe Flash Player, but it was installed to a "disk image".  I don't know what this is and I cannot see anything that requires Flash Player.  What am I doing wrong?

I have downloaded and installed Adobe Flash Player, but it was installed to a "disk image".  I don't know what that is, but I cannot view anything that requires flash player.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help, but that didn't do any good either.  I have been double clicking from the download files, double clicking on the "install adobe flash player", closing the anti virus, closing Safari, watching the install progress and clicking finish.  It indicates that "flash player" is installed, but every time I try to view something requiring flash player, it tells me I must download it.  It shows up in the "system preference"  and from there I can make some changes, but it still won't let me view anything requiring "flash player".   It does not show up in my apps like Adobe Reader does.  It shows up in the "downloaded files" section of "Finder".  I'm getting really perplexed over my inability to get this right.

  • How to upgrade Flash Player in Windows 8.1 Pro

I have windows 8.1 pro with IE 11 and the news video won't be able to play online. The error message is "Sorry, Clip not found...Media not found". It gives only an option to click 'OK' and the screen stays black. I am sure the video is OK, because I can run it on Windows 7.
I contacted Microsoft Support and they suggested I upgrade my flash player. My flash player version is 13.0.0.206 and the lasts is 13.0.0.214. I tried to upgrade and it says "Flash player is integrated in Windows 8" and no option to install it.
I also tried uninstall Flash player with Uninstall Flash Player tool but it did not uninstall Flash even though the message said 'uninstalled successfully'.
In brief, how do I correct 'Sorry, clip not found. Media not found' when I play online video? This is a news video, not movie or youtube and how do I upgrade Flash on Windows 8.1 with IE 11.
    Thank You.

    Hi Texan,
Microsoft embeds Flash Player in Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x systems and you can only update Flash Player for IE by updating Internet Explorer.  Microsoft releases Internet Explorer updates whenever there is a Flash Player update (usually monthly).  To update your version of Internet Explorer go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Windows Update > Check for Updates.  Since you don't have the latest version of Flash Player, it should find the 'Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8.1 (KB2957151)' released May 13, 2014.  Alternatively, the URL for this specific download is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2957151.
If you also have other non-IE browsers, you can install/update Flash Player by going to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer using the non-IE browser and the page will present you with the appropriate version for the OS and browser.

  • How to install and use Flash Player with Windows 7 64-bit edition and Internet Explorer 8.

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Search for Internet Explorer.
    3. Do not click on "Internet Explorer (64-bit)" or "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
    4. Click on "Internet Explorer."
    5. That will open Internet Explorer 8, 32-bit edition.
    6. Now you can download, install, and use Flash Player. (It is used automatically on websites that support it.)
    7. In the future, make sure you don't use Internet Explorer 64-bit edition. Delete any Internet Explorer shortcut icons that you were formally using. Make sure that any Internet Explorer icons that you now use, are opening the 32-bit edition. To see what edition you are using, click the question mark near the upper-right corner of a webpage and click "About Internet Explorer." If you don't see "64-bit" on the popup, that means you are using the 32-bit edition.

    Check the following:
Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer 9
ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer 9
    Also check this:
In I.E.9, click Tools, click Internet options, click Security tab, ensure that the Internet security level is Medium-high.

  • Problem downloading adobe flash player with windows 7 (64 bits)

i have a computer  acer aspire M5810 working under windows seven (64 bits) but i can not install adobe flash player
i tried everything but no result
is there somewhone who can help me

Hi, You need to be sure to use the 32bit browser in Install Flash Player, as it is not supported yet for the 64bit. You can install FP in a 64bit operating system as you have, but use the 32bit browser which is the default.
Also are you trying to Install Flash Player vs 10.0.45.2 and if so did you run the Adobe Uninstaller first?
    Thanks,

  • Can't download and install Adobe Flash Player

I have a new Acer Aspire laptop on Windows 8.1, running the latest Firefox as default browser. On trying to open Al Jazeera in Firefox I get a window that says I need to download Adobe Flash Player:
I click on that and get the Adobe download page:
I click on install now and get the prompt to save install_flashplayer:
I click on save file and then go to my downloads folder and it has the installer icon there:
However when I then double click on it nothing more happens. A window headed Adobe Flash Player Installer with no content appears:
    And nothing more happens.
    Please advise.

  • How can I download and install Adobe Flash Player?

Actually, I think I have downloaded Flash Player 9 (Adobe confirms not only download but installation), but the player does not work. I receive a message "There is no default application specified to open the document "Flash Player.plug.in" in both Safari and Firefox.

    Nate;
I am experiencing the same problem. The message I get when I open up a page in Safari is that I need to have shockwave to view this MIME type file. When I choose to select the options given when this message appears, it takes me to the Adobe web site for downloading flash 9. I have tried opening Safari in Rosetta mode with no luck. THis is a recent phenomenon; prior to this I had no trouble viewing MIME files

  • Flash player with Windows 7 Fixed

Hey everyone. I am thourougly frusturated. For the past few days I have delt with nothing short of a night mare. Everytime I have attempted to load a website with flash included, i.e. youtube, facebook games, important stuff, my internet browser would crash. I attempted a few things, first i tried that one downloadable fix, didnt work for me. I tried uninstalling and installing over and over again. No dice. I then tried a system restore to a time when flash did effing work. That worked for about a day. then CRASH! But I found a way to fix whatever issue there is.
    Here is what I did:
Uninstall Flash player through the uninstall programs screen Then,
Under the win7 startup search thing go to msconfig.
Click the selective startup and clear the "Load startup items" box
Go to the services tab and click the "hide all Microsoft services"
         Click "disable all"
Finally, Click Ok and then Restart.
Go to whatever browser you want to use and download flash player.
Restart your internet browser and try some flash things like youtube
If this works then there is an issue between an application on your computer and flash, i think my issue is somewhere between Mcafee and flash.
Go back to msconfig and selcte the services you want to enable again. If flash no longer works, go through one by one to find the one with the issue.
    I hope this helps someone!

Hi Mck, I just looked at your thread to see what had been fixed. Now I am not speaking for anyone other than myself and thinking if I would do that. Not saying anything that you did was right or wrong, don't misunderstand. Just for me I would think it risky to disable all Microsoft services. Did you know that it wasn't?
Just trying to understand what you did. Is this similar to Safe Mode?
After disabling, then you had to know what to enable afterwards, right?
Your statement about an application issue between McAfee and Flash is most informative. It has come to my attention this past week that is definitely the issue.  Even if you disable McAfee prior to Uninstalling/Installing, after each Reboot
and that is needed, McAfee automatically enables itself. Since McAfee is fully enabled and probably with a Firewall when you try to Install, it prevents it. Norton has a timer that one sets when trying to Uninstall/Install, so I guess one needs to be very fast or it too will automatically enable itself:-) Actually I've done considerable researching on McAfee and Norton in order to understand how their programs work. This is for the simple reason to help those here on the Flash Forum that have so many problems installing Flash Player if they use either one of those.
I have read on the Norton forum for example that even if one disables certain compoments using the icon in the system tray, other components continue to run in the background.
Whenever you have time to respond is fine, no rush. Glad you have FP working tho.

  • Flash player with windows 8

I recently purchased a computer with windows 8, I tried playing some games and it said my flash player was out of date and took me to the adobe website which said flashplayer is integrated into windows 8 so I do not need to update, there are a couple of troubleshooting tips to do in your tools, but they did not help.  Anybody have this problem or a fix?

The message is right. Flash Player (for Internet Explorer at least) is integrated into the browser by Microsoft. Depending on how long your new PC was "on the shelf" there are probably updates that aren't installed. I got a new Toshiba laptop in June, and it was a "December" build, so my 6-month-old laptop is really a year now.
Flash Player for IE updates through Windows Update. The latest version is 11.9.900.152.
You can access the Flash Player Global Settings via the Control Panel>System and Security panel, which is also where to manually run Windows update, if you need to.
IE11 has had numerous problems with all sorts of sites, like Yahoo, Facebook, BBC, ESPN and more.
Microsoft's recommendation is to enable Compatibility view for these sites to "pretend" IE11 is another version that works still.
My recommendation is not to pretend you're using something else, but actually use something else. Firefox, Opera, Safari or Chrome would each be a better browser than IE.

  • How to install Flash Player with Windows Vista 64 bit?

IE 9, Windows Vista 64-bit, Flash Player quit working and won't install. Error Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55.  I have deactivated User Accounts and Security, gone to Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash and Run as Administrator NPSWF32_FlashUtil, and still not working.  One suggestion was to run an add-on from Macromedia, but that failed and I don't know what the add-on was.  Have also run System Restore and restored all my Internet security setttigs to default.  Nothing is working!

196 people have viewed this thread. You do realize that nearly ten times that many have downloaded and installed it WITHOUT a problem in the time it takes me to type this response.
As to IE. It's garbage and has been since day one. People who use it exclusively are either too naive to realize what a pitiful excuse for software it is, or they've been successfully brainwashed by the R-tards in Redmond to believe that there isn't anything else.
ActiveX controls in IE were written in 1993, for dial-up connections on a 16 bit OS. HOW SAFE does that make you feel using IE in 2014?
Use Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome... ANYTHING but IE.
