Downloading Aperture on a macbook Air
How do I download Aperture on my new MacBook air when I already have purchased it for my Macbook Pro and iMac etc?
If you have the box version you cannot download it from the Mac App store - you'll have to install it using the DVD. Since the MBA doesn't have an optical disk, you'll either need to plug in an external optical drive or using DVD sharing.

You have 17 options to save as in Open Office, one of which is .doc files, yes it needs to be saved manually.
You may be able to default to DOC, but have not tried same.
Since Open Office is 99% same as Word, I use it, or Word, either one. Open Office is a bit less buggy than Word 11' -
i can't transfer downloaded content from my macbook air to my external hdd, when i try to drag it into the hrd drive it wont go in how do i fix this ?
What format is the external HDD in? If it's NTFS (= proprietary Windows), then OS X can read it but not write.
Eventually copy all content from the drive to a safe place, the re-format. FAT32 is the format which both Windows and OS X can read and write. -
I am trying to download iPhoto on my MacBook Air. I am told I need IOS 10.10. I cannot work out how to get that. I am told that my updates are up to date when I check.

When I downloaded iWork on my MacBook Air, it didn't copy the application to my other devices. Is that an error or should I buy them again on each device!?
Just redownlod it from the Mac App Store on any other Macs - you won't have to pay for them again. On your iOS devices you will need to purchase the iOS version which is a different program - again, you will only need to buy it the once for all your iOS devices.

Check that your MBA meets the System Requirements for Lion..

Microsoft has not written Internet Exporer for Mac for years but you could try this work around.
With Safari open, from the menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Back to the menu bar click Develop > User Agent then select Internet Explorer 10.0
Then try that website.
No guarantees that will work. -

It includes the actual installer (so it's a lot larger) whereas the other installer downloads the install data once it starts running, which may be where your problem lies. -
When I attempt to re-download Lion to my MacBook Air I get the following error: localhost Install Mac OS Lion[436]: Retrying pisa://1183a0570:::/InstallESD.dmg after 1 failure(s). I am trying to re-install the OS after erasing having erased the drive. Any ideas?
I had the exact same issue; Lion recovery from Command + R would hang with the logs showing the same message. To resolve, I used Disk Utility to remove the recovery partition. My Air then used Internet Recovery to load all the tools. When using Reinstall via Internet it worked just fine.

I have old Office:Mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition from my previous MacBook and it won't download onto my new MacBook Air via external optical drive and says that PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Am I stuck bying the newer version or is there a way around the software issue so I don't have to spend more money. Thanks for your help.
KevinYou can purchase Offce 2011 from MacMall for about $99 so it is well worth the money. As said in a previous post by Kappy, you can try one of the free office suites available. They can read Office files and can save documents in Office format. Apple's iWork is also a good ffice suite afavilable from the App Store by download. I have used Open Office,Libre Office and Neo Office and have liked each one of them. Neo Office has the closest match to Apple operating systems - it just feels like an Apple program. Open Office and Libre Office are also very good choices and dont have much of a learning curve at all.

What is your Acrobat XI version? If less than 11.0.09 I would suggest that you update, then try again. Download updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh

For the future, it might be useful to know where your downloads folder resides.
In your hard drive, click on Users / your home icon. You will see the downloads folder there. That is the real thing.
The icon in the dock is an alias of the real downloads folder.
