Downloading bodies of Old Emails

I downloaded 10,000's old emails from my server.
Then, I deleted thousands of unwanted emails.
based on their headers and subjects..
Now I'm finding emails where only the header was
downloaded and not the body, at all.
Is there some routine to loop through my emails and
download the missing email bodies?
I've not deleted the emails from my server.
and I have I POP3 connection, though I can change it IMAP.
Thank you,

  • How do I set Mail to only download one-month old emails?

    Hello there
I have been a Mac user since 2008 but I have never actually used the default Mail client. I always used third-party applications but since most applications on Yosemite perform really well, I decided to give Mail a shot. The only problem I am facing right now is finding a setting to have Mail only download one-month old emails rather than the whole inbox? I have three accounts (Two on GMAIL and one on Hotmail) and of course they contain thousands and thousands of emails and it will take a very, very long time to download all of them since my internet is pretty slow (2MB), so I was wondering if that option is available? It'd be fantastic. It's available on Android and iOS AFAIK so I assumed maybe it's an option on Mac too?
    Thank you for your time.

If you have gmail (Google Mail), one idea is to "label" all the mail you want to in the gmail web interface and then just download mail with a certain label. Take a look at the article at http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2013/12/download-copy-of-your-gmail-and-google.htm l
    Does that help?

  • HT4993 I had a email address in my my phone , and want to change but when pull up download app the old email automaticly comes up how do i change?

I had a email address in my my phone , and want to change but when pull up download app the old email automaticly comes up how do i change?

All apps that you have purchased or downloaded are tied to the apple id/email that you use to buy it.  That's why it is showing your old email when you are trying to update the app.

  • New Mac - Don't want Mail auto downloading all my old emails.

I am getting a new Mac and from previous experience, once you open Mail it automatically downloads all the old emails situated on your ISP's mail server.
As I have got these emails saved on my present computer I don't want all 1,500 of them downloading to my new Mac.
I could prevent it by deleting the emails on my ISP's mail server but I want to keep them there as an independent  backup.
Is there any way I can configure Mail to ensure that it only downloads new emails and not the old ones?

I've been mulling this over overnight and wanted to follow up.
The only thing I can think of is if your email is set up using the older POP technology, you could do this one of two ways:
1/ migrate your mail across, then from within the mail app, delete whats there (ensure your delete from server settings are switched to off - if only for this section).  This will tell the server that you've already downloaded the existing mail and it ill only download new emails.  IMPORTANT: this will only work for a POP Account.
2/ Again, POP only but you could alternatively redownload all the mail, and perform the #1 steps.
As for IMAP accounts, these by nature Sync with the server, so I think you're firmly out of luck.

  • How to stop iphone 5S from downloading all my old emails

How to stop iphone 5S from downloading all my old emails? I keep deleting the "latest"old emails and older ones just keeps popping up!

Well Thank you for everyone's help.  I contacted the service provider, who uses google to support their email.  If anyone else has this problem....with google supported email here is the solution.
    Go to your email account
    click settings
click "settings" (again) under the settings button
    click "forwarding and POP/IMAP"
under POP download click "enable POP for mail that arrives from now on"
    save changes
    Then go to your iphone
    erase your email account
    re-install your email account
now only new emails should show up on your phone, all your past emails will be saved at the server.

  • IOS7 mail downloaded all my old email.

How do I delete all this old email at one time? How do I stop this massive downloading?

After a frustrating time trying just about everything that was suggested both in these forums and others I decided this morning to try a 'workround'.  My email is via BT (UK) so went to source (yuk! BT Yahoo Mail), created a folder '2013' (I usually do this at the end of a year to archive everything) and moved all but the last couple of months emails to that.  Went back to ipad and all the supposed unread mail had disappeared.  I suppose now I should be brave and move it back out of the folder and into the inbox and see what happens but, to be frank, life is too short!
Apple still needs to sort this bug.  It shouldn't be this difficult.

  • IPhone 5 downloads all my old emails

This has been stressed for many years and yet Apple does nothing about it. The only solution I have came upon was to set your POP email to delete email off the server. Or, make a separate folder on the server and place all the old emails into this new folder. This is just crazy. All the new phones on the market, except for Apple, has a feature that you can actually tell the phone that you don't want to download mail more than a week old. Come on Apple, fix this as this problem goes all the way back to 2008.
At this moment, my IPhone is still downloading over 1,000 emails that I cannot delete as I'm a tax accountant and need to keep emails for as long as 3 years since my practice is paperless office. Emails are important to me and I don't delete them unless I know for sure that it has nothing to do with my business.
Well I guess I'll spend some time deleting 3 years worth of emails off my new phone.

  • HT4484 My email was phished, so I deleted it and changed it completely.  Now all the apps that I downloaded with the old email cannot update because I cannot log into that email.  Mountain Lion is compatible with the new updated iPhoto.  what can I do?

My email address was phished and I had to delete it completely.  That was the one I used to download all my original apps on my computer.  I have since changed to a new address, but since my apps were under the old one, I cannot update them without logging into the old address.  It no longer exists....so how do I fix this?
Some of the apps I don't really care about updating but, I did download the new Mountain Lion and it wants to update my iphots and I can't do it.
Any help will be appreciated!  Thanks!

    Hi joaroa,
When you say you deleted your email and changed it completely, those are actually two different things, and it sounds like you are talking about your Apple ID, not just your email, (because you speak of making purchases with it).
If you changed your Apple ID (preferred, How to change the name you use for your Apple ID), then you would not have another Apple ID and all of your purchases would still be with your only Apple ID, it would just be renamed to your new email address.
If you instead created a new Apple ID (with a different email address) then of course you have two different Apple IDs and the old one still exists and is probably active. Just because you may not use an email address anymore, that doesn't mean an Apple ID of the same name is inactive, Apple IDs aren't deleted.  If you start purchasing Apps with your new Apple ID, it can really cause confusion because, as you see, you need to be logged into the Apple ID that purchased an App to update it. It would be best to stick with one Apple ID for purchases, probably the one you have spent the most money with.  Remember, unless it's an @mac or @me Apple ID you can rename them rather than creating yet another Apple ID.  Since Apple IDs can't be merged or deleted, creating more can be a messy.
If you don't remember what the password is for a particular Apple ID, you can visit iforgot.apple.com where you can reset it, the AppleConnect password.  If the Apple ID is no longer a valid email address, you can use the security question method to reset the password instead.
Unless you have made a lot of purchases with your new Apple ID, I'd recommend moving back into your old one, especially if that has the most or the most expensive apps with it.  If your new Apple ID is the "name/email" you want to use, you could rename the new one to a secondary email, then rename your old Apple ID to your preferred name/email.  Basically, rename the new one to something else which frees up that name (email) to rename your old Apple ID.  Thus your old Apple ID has the new name.  See My Apple ID.  The "Manage your account" link is where you can rename the ID itself.
Sorry about getting long winded here, but it's important to keep as few Apple IDs as possible, at least when it comes to purchases.  If an Apple ID is undesired, rename it rather than creating a new one. It will be much simpler in the long run.
Let us know how it goes.

  • ITunes Download problems with old email address

iTunes will not download purchased or imported music currently on my list in iTunes that I imported  or purchased when I had a different email address (that no longer exists).  I can not add it as a verifying email won't be accepted.  This occurred when I purchased iPhone 4 with ios5 and had to load iTunes.  How do I correct?

    Hello Chief Weasel,
The article linked below details how to go about changing the primary, alternate and notification e-mail addresses used with your wife's Apple ID.
    Primary email address
Every Apple ID account has one primary email address, and that address is your Apple ID. When you create an Apple ID, you enter the primary address to use as your Apple ID.
Your primary address is also the contact email address for your account. Check it regularly, because it receives email that you need to manage your account. For example, before you can use a new or changed Apple ID, you need to verify it as directed in a verification email that Apple sends to that address. Didn't receive the email?

  • How to stop downloading 10,000 old emails

I've just got a new iPhone 3G today, and have managed to start receiving emails from a POP account on it (although I can't yet send any; another question...)
The phone has found the 'loads of emails' on this account, and is now downloading them in batches, going back in time, each time it fetches mail. Following another suggestion on here that worked for someone else, I created a new archive folder for these emails on my Mac, and removed them from the Inbox into here so that the Inbox is now empty, but still they come.
I'm sure that there's something really stupid I'm doing, so would appreciate it being pointed out ever so gently...
    With thanks.

    Allan,
Thanks for your reply, and for putting me right on the other 'solution'.
At the moment, the Mail.app doesn't remove messages from the server at all, it seems (I don't think I've ever looked at this before). Would you recommend that I remove them all, then, and have it set to remove them after retrieval? I have also been accessing them via webmail sometimes, also, which I suppose I won't now be able to do, although perhaps I don't now need to, thanks to the iPhone.
Not that I fully understand such things (obviously) but having looked at some other Q&As, it would seem that an IMAP set-up would be better than the POP one I have; should I see if this is possible?
Thanks again, and with best wishes,
    Jeremy

  • How can I get Entourage to stop downloading old emails again and again?

    Hi all,
I hope this is an appropriate forum to ask a question re using Entourage in Office 2004 for Mac. I have been using this email client successfully for several years. Suddenly, after being out of the country for about 1 month and gone from my home computer, when I launch Entourage it begins to download 5-6000 old emails from several accounts. It has been doing this about once every 7-10 days. This has happened 3 or 4 times since I returned.
I have tried rebuilding the Entourage application several times and this does not help. I have also updated to Leopard and this has made no difference in the Entourage problem. When I initially returned there were a large number of emails to download since I had left them on the server even though I was traveling with a laptop. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the problem? I would greatly appreciate any assistance or suggestions anyone has to offer. Thanks, John

Never mind.  I figured it out for OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard:
If you see the Sync menu in the menu bar, skip to step 3:
If you do not see the Sync menu in your menu bar, skip to step 7.
Hold the Option key on your keyboard, then click the Sync menu in the menu bar:
if you see the Sync menu but you are unable to open it, skip to step 8.
    Choose Reset Sync Services.
    Click Reset Sync History.
Test for the original issue. If the issue persists, or if you are unable to open the Sync menu, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
    Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type or paste the following command on a single line:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
    Press Return.
Quit Terminal after the operation has completed (when Terminal returns to the command prompt with a $).

  • Restrain download of old emails

I have a MacBook Air. My email address is a Gmail one and everytime I checked my emails it downloaded thousands of old emails that already were in my inbox. At the Apple Store they fixed something in my Gmail settings on internet and it has stopped doing that, but it still continues to download random old emails. How can I stop it? thank you

I didn't get a repair ticket. They did a change in "Forwarding and POP/IMAP', now, thie setting says:
"1. Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 2 May"
    "Status: IMAP is enabled"

  • New iMac--getting thousands of old email messages!

I just got a new iMac and after I added my MobileMe email address in Apple Mail, it started downloading 8,000 old email messages! I have checked in Apple Mail Preferences and in MobileMe mail preferences and I cannot figure out what I need to change in order to tell the MobileMe Mail server to delete all email messages that are over two years old. Can someone help me figure this out?
    Thanks!

There is no way to do this automatically with an Inbox that resides on the IMAP server. Such a time setting is only available with a POP3 server -- in which case deleting from the server does not delete from the Mac.
If you create a Smart Mailbox to segregate the older messages so you can manually delete them, then if you do that, they will not be on the old Mac either.

  • Old emails keep appearing on my phone.

I have just added my hotmail account to my iPhone 5s and every time I click in mail it downloads all my old emails. So far I have had 2000 emails come through to my phone which I have to keep deleting.
Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?
    Thank you

    Two options
One is to open your email app on your phone and select the account then open the settings for that account and select how many days you want to sync emails
Two is to open the email settings for said account on your Pc and change the pop settings as this could be down to the way your account is setup and may have nothing to do with your phone
