Downloading books without using wi-fi

When is there going to be a way to download books to the touch the same way music is. I am an avid reader and have a large library. As it stands now, I have to drive to town to the once place I can acces wi-fi and hope they have it turned on. It is a huge inconvenience. It is so simple to put music on the touch, why should it be so hard to do books. Please someone help or at least point me in a direction of finding an answer.

If you are referring to books from Amazon.com using their "Kindle" app, you do have to use wi-fi.
You didn't tell us what computer you are using. Perhaps we can help you with a home wi-fi setup between your computer and your iPod Touch. If you are interested in doing that start a new thread asking for help in doing so. (If you have a Mac with "Airport" it's a snap.)

Downloaded book without authoring computer, so couldn't use on my Kobo reader. Have now authorized computer but Kobo reader won't recognize authorization.

I have now authorized my computer and Adobe has told me I can now use it on my Kobo reader. But the Kobo thinks it is not authorized. How do I tell it that it is?

Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader Results without using Photo Downloader

I always used the Photo Downloader to download files, rename them and organize them into folders named by date.
I recently upgraded to a Network Attached Storage device that has a USB Port directly on the front of it and allows me to dump all my camera files straight onto the external hard drive. However, it does not rename them - so it uses the raw file names that the camera assigns them and doesn't organize them in any way.
This is really handy for me as I don't have to copy 16gb of photos across a wireless network when I want to clear out a memory card. However, I haven't found a way to organize the files after the fact.
Is there any way to have Adobe Bridge (or any other Mac software!) go through those files and move/rename them the same way that Photo Downloader always did directly from the camera? How?

If you are sure your files have the metadata, in other words you can place your memory card into a reader and the information is there,
next step, is a total Bridge Preferences reset
Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.

How to re-download iDVD without using CD?

My iDVD has some problem in locating themes. I'm running on Mac OS X 10.8. I wanna re-install it, but I didn't have any restore disc, because my Macbook Pro is a Mid 2011 model. So anyone can give me a hand?

First off there was no Mid 2011 Macbook Pro. There is an Early model that came with Snow Leopard and some, that were manufactured after Lion came out, that came with Lion. If you have an Early 2011 model it may still qualify for replacement system discs from Apple. So give them a call. If it IS a Real Early 2011 then you got discs with it and you can get replacements from Apple.
Question is where are the discs it came with????

Cannot download books

I have had my Sony Readers PRS-505 for some time and have downloaded books without any problem in the past. However, now I can’t. I don’t get any error message that I can see (although something flashes up too quickly to read it), the book just doesn’t appear on my PC.
A couple of times I have re-authorised my computer and then been able to download a sample book from the Adobe website, but then cannot do it again.
The sites I am buying from are ones I have used before and I haven't changed my PC. I have run a virus check and checked blocked programs in my anti-spyware software, and now I am stumped.
Does anyone out there have any bright ideas?

I just spent money on a cover and light for my e-reader and it seems I can no longer use it. Sony or Kobo have done an update to the software so I can not longer download books from the library. All of the books say "this devise does not support this format". This is for an epub or a pdf which it supported last week!!
When I try to download a book the download button dissapears and that note come up in its place. I have tried a soft and hard reboot.. nothing!! Why sell me a reader and cover then discontinue the ability to read using it? I have an PRS T2

IBooks on my iPad won't let me download books.

Each time I try to download a book from the iBooks store , the book seem to be downloading just fine, but when it's finished downloading, the book just disappears. I've tried to reboot and reinstall app. Nothing seem to work.
And just for the record, i've got an iPad 2 wifi+3g 64gb with 5.1.1 installed, and 23gb of space avalible. I've downloaded books without any problem before.
I tried to download it to my iPhone, and it worked without any problem.
Anyone got a clue?

I had downloaded a lot of free books in the past as a trial when iBooks was first released and since then I have decided I no longer want them, because of this I hid them from the purchased section of the iBooks store. The 5 books left are ones I decided to keep as seen in the following picture.
This is how it appears in iBooks on my mac. There are 4 books downloaded and 1 book that I have decided not to download at this time. I would still like to keep this book available in the cloud incase I want to download it again in the future. You’ll notice that hide iCloud books is not selected, if I wanted to hide the book that I have chosen to keep in the cloud, but have not downloaded yet I could.
This is exactly how I think this feature should work. If you have hidden a book from your purchases it should not show up in the mac Ibooks app. (I am aware you can never actually delete a purchase, just hide them and that hidden purchases can be restored to your account from within the account management section of the iBooks store).
The iOS app is working differently for me. Here is a picture of the purchased tab on the iBooks store in iOS Ibooks. Again notice that pictures of Lilly is still yet to be downloaded. This is how I expected it to look.

In case there was an issue with syncing I tried logging in and out of my iTunes account via settings in iOS. Force closing the app, disabling automatic downloads and removing my device from iTunes in the cloud. Syncing with iTunes on the mac did not correct the issue either.
Interestingly I have the same issue on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3 as I do on my iPad mini suggesting that this might be an issue either with my account or with iOS iBooks software in general.

If you have Pages you can create customs pages for your book as TD suggested. If you have Pages from iWork 09 or 11 this app will add 80 or so additional frames to those offered: Frames and Strokes Installer. Don't use it on the latest Pages version, however.
This tutorial shows how to create a custom page with the theme's background: iP11 - Creating a Custom Page, with the Theme's Background for an iPhoto Book. Once the page is complete to get it into iPhoto as a jpeg file follow these steps:
Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3 - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE: If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. For books to be printed choose 300 dpi.

Can I download music to my iPhone directly from my computer- WITHOUT using iCloud?

Does anyone know how to download music from iTunes on your computer onto your phone without using iCloud? It used to be that I would just plug in my phone, hit sync, and all the music I wanted (which I had selected in iTunes on my computer) would be added to my phone's music library. Easy peasy. Now, none of the music actually gets downloaded to the phone- if I'm connected to wi-fi, I can access all those selected songs through the cloud, but if I'm not, then the songs are grayed out in my playlists. Each song has a little cloud icon next to it, and I can download the songs by tapping that… one at a time. I talked to Apple support and they told me to go into the iTunes store app and select "download all," which I did try, but given the quantity of songs I have, and the rate at which things were going, it would have taken forever to get them all downloaded. I have thousands of songs I like to have on my phone, and the point is to be able to listen to them in places without wi-fi (like my car, or on a hike, or an airplane); it is SUPER annoying that I can no longer quickly download all of those songs by simply connecting my phone to my computer. I have searched high and low in these forums and I can't seem to find a solution; I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Some details: I have an iPhone 6, and I use iTunes on my Mac, and all of my software on both is up to date. I do not subscribe to iTunes Match, so turning that off (as has been recommended elsewhere) is not helpful to me.

Thanks, but I should have clarified: I already have USB syncing set up with iTunes on my Mac and have been adding music to my iPhone for years that way; now with the latest IOS, it no longer appears to be working. I follow the exact steps I always have (and which are outlined in the link provided), but no actual music is downloaded to my phone- if I am not connected to a wi-fi network, I cannot listen to my music unless I download it from iCloud. (And downloading it from iCloud is a laborious task because I have many songs.)

i've made a catalogue of mistakes. I've had an Overdrive app for ages to access library books which was great but this is what happened-
1. Suddenly a message kept coming up each time I logged in saying Adobe acct ........... is saved in your overdrive acct do you want to deauthorise or authorise. I kept clicking on authorise but thought it might be better to deauthorise and authorise it properly in settings. I tried this but my Adobe ID didn't work- nothing came up to say it was wrong but I kept getting thrown back to the authorisation screen and could not get any further or download books. I did check my password was okay by signing into my Adobe account and it was the only one I had which I had used when I upgraded to I.o.s.7 and it was fine.
I tried logging in and out, resetting my overdrive acct and eventually deleted the overdrive app and then reinstating it but nothing worked.
2. I decided if I got a new Adobe acct using my google email address then authorising the Adobe reader through this might work. However. It all seemed to go well I created the account then put all the details into my overdrive acct. thought this was going well but I got a message as I tried to download a book 'fulfil code 2004' , saying another ID could not be used. I'm now stuck it won't allow me to try my original ID.
Can anyone help help me out of this mess and can I delete an Adobe ID once created please?
