I have tjis problem also, check your ipood to see how many GBs it has left, then check the movie's ammount of GBs/MB and see if you dont have eneough or something, but if that doesnt work, idk. tell me if it works or if u found another way1 thanks!

Importing camcorder movies into iPhoto - Practical?

I recently discovered that iPhoto does see and can import video clips from my DSLR camera and digital HD camcorder. I'm the kind of guy who likes to take a lot of video but often gets around to video editing later or never. In that context, having video clips sorted along with my photos as events is convenient, both from a viewing and organizational standpoint. Also, it's my understanding that you can import photos and vides from iPhoto into iMovie later on for video editing.
So my question: is it practical to store digital camcorder video in iPhoto and only import into iMovie as needed? Will I be losing video quality if doing it in this sort of 1-2 approach due to file conversions (if any)?
A slightly related question: what sort of iOS devices could play digital HD movie clips? Neither my iPhone nor my iPad 2 have any problem playing iPhone-created video or older digital camera video, but I get a message saying that some newer digital HD clips (from my DSLR camera for instance) will not play on my iPad 2. This is in spite of the fact that the file format is .mov and the h264 codec was used for encoding. It it normal for iOS devices to reject videos of that format?

Practical? That's a question only you can answer from your own perspective, really. If it's a workflow that works for you then yes. No, there's no data loss adding to iMovie later.
As for the iOS query, I'd ask that on the iPad forum.

Transfering Digital camcorder movies into iDVD & burning into DVDRW

Hi all
I need the right direction of transferring my Digital8mm movies from my Digital Sony camcorder into iDVD movies. How many hours can I get into a DVDRW and what's a good method on creating a nice family DVD movie? I"ll definitely have to get a 200 or 500 gb HDD to store movies and Music files.

First off, I DON'T recommend using RW media for anything you'd like to last and be playable for a while.
For single layer discs, use Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R discs.
Using iDVD you can fit approximately 60 minutes of content on a single layer disc in the 'Best Performance' mode or 120 minutes on a double layer disc.
You can fit approximately 120 minutes of content on a single layer disc in the 'Best Quality' mode or 240 minutes on a double layer disc.

If you are seeing the Ts & Cs link in the Downloads tab in the iPad's iTunes app then that just means that you don't have any outstanding/queued downloads - your film should have downloaded into the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :

I have various dvds of my daughter's dance performances and I would like to compile them and make a movie. How can I download the movies into I movie?

When you start up Handbrake, you will need to identify the source that you are copying. I assume you have an Optical drive by which you can read the DVD. Then it is a matter of clicking on the various options for the copying process, especially insuring you know where the copied file will be. It wil be in an MP4 format, which can then be viewed by Quickplay or QuickTime.. It can be also be imported into iMovie, using the import function under the File menu.

Cannot download movie into my Macbook from the cloud...

I have purchased a movie from iTunes on my iPad Mini. Now I want to download it via the cloud into my library on my Macbook Pro. I had very little issues with downloading from the Cloud, since I have purchased it from my iPad. But this particular movie does not want to download into my Macbook. I tried to click on the Cloud icon many times with no avail. And I have it unhidden in my Purchases. And strangely, if I want to purchase the movie again, the buy HD button will not let me make the purchase of this movie. After all the posts I found here in Apple Support Communities, I cannot simply download this movie into my Library as I prefer not to connect my iPad Mini to my Macbook to transfer the movie. Any other evidence to resolve this problem?

OK, it is possible that all of the songs have not been processed by iTunes Match. The process tries to match songs first, then for those it can't match, it will upload a copy. Uploading can take hours, sometimes days and often new users of Match try to access songs before they have been uploaded. They see the song titles, but the songs are grayed out.
What can be confusing is that many times most of the songs on a CD will match, but one or two will not and have to be uploaded.
You might want to read some of Apple's support documents related to iTunes Match. Also, if you have not changed your view options in iTunes, you should do that. With Match enabled, you have two new view options. One will show you the status of all your tracks, so you can see if they were matched, uploaded, marked as having been purchased though the iTunes store, or marked as ineligible for the service.

Chris , thanks for the prompt reply. The dvd was produced by a third party that I found on line . I had a number of old mini digital video cassettes from a Sony Handycam. I can play the DVD's on my laptop but I can't edit them on iMovies to delete a lot of the rubbish on them. I have five DVD's and three downloaded without any problem but the last two are according to iMovies non importable.

No unfortunately it won't open in quicktime either. It does the same thing that Imovie does, separates it into two file folders audio and video, and if i select video it opens to reveal 8 files that cannot be selected. VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB,VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VB, VTS_01_3.VOB. All of which cannot be opened or selected.
Opening it in Idvd and folllowing your suggestion works and I get a format code of NTSC. Is that the same? Thank you for your time and response.

The EXACT same thing happened to me last night! Rented a movie; it had barely started and then froze. When I touch the video app icon, all I get is a blank, dimly lit screen. None of the other videos I own will display either. Was your problem ever resolved?

if you cant download them > email the iTunes Store emaill support adn explian the situation adn they will give you a regrant of all your purchases.

but you should try the pas purchase thing in iTunes first because the regrant is a one time thing. > IE iTunes Store > purchases > click what you want > redownload
