Downloading Camera Images in Bridge CS5 (Cannon 500D)

Hi,
I'm trying to download images from my Cannon 500D camera in bridge.  It seems that the Photo Browser gets stuck reading the first CR2 file.  When the Photo Downloader is in advanced mode (so you see the thumbnails) you just get a generic icon of the flower for the first CR2 file and then everyone after that (including the JPGs) is a hour glass.
Bridge displays the thumbnails and opens CR2 files that are already on my hard drive, its just an issue when accessing them from my camera.
Thanks,
Jo.

I am using a USB cable to connect my camera to my PC.  If I take the SD card out and use my laptop card reader it works fine.
Thanks,
Jo.

  • Get photos from camera option in Bridge CS5

I really would like to use the "Get photos from camera" option in Bridge CS5, as it would save me a few steps in my normal workflow (dowload images from my Canon 40D with EOS utility, convert to DNG, delete CR2 files, update metadata with copyright information), but when I try with with a large number of images, some RAW images are not downloaded and converted. All jpg images are downloaded. So I would get e.g. images 1.dng, 1.jpg, 2.dng, 2.jjp, 3.jpg - in othere words the 3.dng file would not download. Any help would be most sincerely appreciated.
BTW - when I use the Canon EOS Utility, all files get downloaded, but then these are all cr2 files.
I use Windows 7 64-bit as my OS.
    My thanks in advance.

On further testing, it appears that the download function works fine as long as the "Convert to dng" function is left unchecked. So the file loss occurs during the conversion process. I have looked but cannot find an answer - is there a way to batch convert downloaded cr2 files to dng from within Bridge? Or does one have to load up the DNG Converter separately?

  • Exporting images in bridge CS5

for some reason when we go to export images we have adjusted in Bridge CS5, the only option that comes up is "hard drive".. when we select that we have no idea where it is exporting to. On our desktop we have other options like Facebook, and any place on the local hard drive we can navigate to, but on this laptop which is a new windows 8 machine we don't have those other options. Can anyone out there please shed some light on this issue for me. Thank you, Eric Simonson

  • RAW conversion from micro four thirds camera (GX7) to Bridge?

I normally use a Nikon D700, but have just bought a Panasonic Lumix GX7 as a little spare camera for travel. I shot a few pictures in RAW to test it out, but am having a nightmare downloading the images to Bridge CS5. I downloaded the Adobe RAW Converter, but I still cannot open the files from this camera. I assume they are the ones with .RW2 at the end; but when I open the RAW converter & go to the folder where I saved them these files are greyed out so I cannot do anything with them. Can anyone assist? I thought this would be a nice simple alternative to my SLR, but it seems 10 times as complicated! Thanks

  • Unable to open camera raw 6.0 from Bridge CS5

I just Installed photoshop CS5 and I am unable to view and open my NEF files in Camera Raw from Bridge CS5.  It worked perfectly fine with Bridge CS4 and Camera Raw 5.1.0.30.  Anyone has any suggestion other than using my old Bridge CS4. I have mas OS X 10.6.3 installed on my computer.
    Many Thanks

I have de-installed and re-installed the entire photoshop CS5 and it is still the same... I am at lost and using my old CS4 bridge for now.
You'll need to confirm that the Camera Raw plug-in was correctly installed so that both Photoshop _AND_ Bridge can access it. For Mac the only correct location that is should be installed is: the root level Library (not the user Library). Inside of the Library look at Application Support/ Adobe/Plug-ins/ CS5/ File Formats/ Camera Raw.plugin
If the Camera Raw plug-in isn't there and/or any of these folders are not there then Camera Raw is not properly installed...if Camera Raw is correctly installed then you may need to do several things...first, in the folder you are trying to see raw images, go up under Tools/ Cache/ Purge Cache For Folder. If that doesn't work you may need to trash your Bridge CS5 preferences. To do that, hold down the Command/ Option/ Shift keys while double-clicking the Bridge app icon and choosing Reset Preferences...
If Camera Raw was not properly installed, sorry, can't help you...you may need to contact Customer Service for installing tech support.

  • Previews in Bridge CS5 are not sharp

The preview panel images in Bridge CS5 are not sharp (almost blurry). Also when I select a thumb and view it using the space bar method (from within the Bridge) the image doesn't appear sharp. Anybody have an idea why? They look fine in Bridge CS4. I've been looking for a preference setting to no avail. Doesn't matter if it's RAW or JPG (same results).
When I select an image and view it using the space bar method (while in the finder) it looks sharp/normal.
    Thanks.

[I've replied to the wrong thread, but this is still relevant]
The soft previews also affect raw images which have been cropped within Camera Raw. The 100% preview within Bridge looks soft compared to when editing in Camera Raw.
Raw images which haven't been cropped look sharp at 100% magnification, but not fit-to-screen.
The raw files I'm dealing with are CR2, not DNG. However, I converted one to DNG and tried the full size jpeg preview option, but it looks the same. Even if it did work, it would mean converting all CR2 files to DNG, which is a lot of extra work to get round this one problem.
Here's what I'm seeing. They are both viewed at 100%. The first file shows a screen capture of the Bridge preview, the second within Camera Raw. Again, the raw files are cropped images, which seems to cause this 100% preview problem.

  • Problem with Bridge CS5 and Tools Photoshop Batch

When I select several images in Bridge CS5 and go to Tool>Photoshop>Batch and try an run an Action, I receive an error message asking for the Install disk. Bridge at that point freezes until I put in the install disk and then it runs the batch action fine.
This is very annoying as I always have to have the disk in my DVD Drive.
    Any points would be welcomed.
    Thanks,

Go to preferences/startup scripts and make sure there is a check mark for Bridge and Photoshop scripts.

  • Why do thumbnails in Bridge CS5 open in CS3? How to fix?

I have both CS3 and CS5 installed on new computer running under Windows 7. I do not want to uninstall CS3 until I fully understand CS5. The problem: When I click thumbnail image in Bridge CS5, the image appears in CS3. I have gone to 'preferences' and tried to figure out how to fix this problem; also looked via windows 7 control panel at default settings;  also tried to follow previous discussion on similar problem -- all without success. Help will be much appreciated.

CS5 and CS3 to both independant programs and should not interfere with each other.  I would recommend you do not uninstall CS3 as that frequently causes massive file association problems.  However, only one program can be active at the same time.
CS3 and CS5 use sepearte cache, so there is no cross association.  What you are probably seeing is incorrect file association.
While in CS5 go to edit/pref/file type associations and see what the default is set to.  You want it to be CS5.  Might click on the radio button at bottom to reset all if that is the problem.

  • Sharing collections in Bridge CS5?

Does anybody know if I can share a collection w/ someone else if we are on the same server of images, using Bridge CS5? It would seem to be a no-brainer, right?
    Thanks, y'all...

At first glance the answer would be "that is what the purpose of networks are--to share data".  But you might have to check the help files on Bridge to see how it reacts over the network, whether two people can access the same file at the same time, especially with video, and what would happen if one of those people updated the file--what would become of the file that the second person is using--would it automatically update?  In the event they were using Linked Images such as in Illustrator I guess that would work pretty well but the communication needs to be open between the file users to see who will update what.  I do not know if Bridge has a legend or key that displays when a file has been changed by one person on the network.  There are other Adobe network-shared programs that do have this feature although the name of the product escapes me--it's one of their document products.

  • Bridge cs5 camera raw 6.5 to 6.5 and new bridge cs6 preview problem

    Hi,
when i actualize camera raw from 6.5 to 6.6 the preview can`t give me right preview after 1 adjustment in camera raw.Image apears like when we open it in camera raw and it last few seconds with the yellow exclamation mark.
Months ago the only solution i found after several instals was to turn back to camera raw 6.5.
Now im trying beta bridge cs6 and problem come back for me again.
I use Nikon D3x with 14 bits ~49MB .nef files in Windows 7 64 bits.
Is any one have same problem? And why only in 6.6 (and new camera raw 7.0) and not in 6.5?
    Thanks

I use Bridge CS5 with camera raw 6.7.1 in combibnation with a canon 6D and a canon 5D Mark2. The raw files from the 5D are shown in bridge, the raw files from the 6D are not. There is just an icon. The camera raw add-on is the latest usable update for Windows, the canon 6d is listed as compatible. Has anyone an idea what to do?
The Canon 6D id NOT supported by ACR 6.7.1. It was supported for the very first time in ACR 7.3 whch requires CS6 to run.
Therefore you will never be able to open raw CR2 files from the 6D directly in CS5.
If you do not plan on upgrading, you can download the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.3 (always use the latest version, it's not tied to your version of Photoshop at all), install it like any other application and then run it on each batch of CR2 files to convert them to raw DNG files that you can then open in your version of Photoshop and ACR.

  • Problems with Image Processor in Bridge CS5

I just installed Photoshop and Bridge CS5, and I'm having a couple of problems. First, I can't update to Bridge 4.02. I've downloaded the installer and tried to run it, but I get an error message. All it says is that it can't run the update. The same thing with the Camera Raw updater. The most immediate problem I'm having is that Image Processor in CS5 seems to run differently from how it runs in CS4. Specifically, if I select a bunch of files in Bridge, and ask Image Processor to run an action on them and save to the same location, which is what I've been doing ever since CS2, it opens the files in Photoshop, and leaves them open. This means that pretty soon I've got far too many fiiles open, and my Mac can't cope with it (an iMac Core Duo 2.16Ghz with 4 GB of ram). It also gives me an error message at the end saying it can't process the relevant files, even though it has processed them! In previous versions of Image Processor, it would open the files to run the action, convert to sRGB, etc. and then close each one after saving it to a new folder named "JPEG". How can I get the latest version to behave like this?

Nevermind... I restarted Flash and it miragically appeared! Yay CS5!
