Downloading CS5 from an upgrade from CS3

I need to reinstall my CS5 ...how do I go about doing this? Do I install the disk version of CS3 first, then look for the upgrade CS5 download or do I just download CS5 from Adobe?
Any comments, suggestions and or opinions are greatly welcomed

YOu should only have to install and activate the CS5 version.  You will need the serial number from the CS3 version in order to activate the CS5 installation.  During activation you will be asked for the sewrial number for the qualifying version (CS3 in this case)

  • Can a CS5 Professional license, upgraded from CS2 Educational license, be transferred?

    As I understand it:
    1. Educational Licenses cannot be transferred
    2. If you upgrade an Educational to a Professional, it replaces the old license (stop me if I'm wrong)
So, I just want to know if the newer, Professional license can be transferred to another person, just like any other professional license?

Once one has a full license (they are not known within Adobe as a professional license), it does not matter whether it was obtained via an upgrade from an academic or educational version or not. The license has the same transfer privileges as if the full product, not an upgrade, was purchased. Once the upgrade is completed and you transfer the license, you may no longer use the original academic or educational license.

  • Where can I download OSX Mavericks to upgrade from Lion?

I have an Early 2011 Mac Pro 17" and have just acquired an Apple TV - but hey presto Lion does not support mirroring - whereas Mavericks does!!
So short of upgrading to Yosemite (mixd reviews...!!!) I was hoping to upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks??
Anyone know where I can get Mavericks from?
    thanks

If you have never purchased OS X Mavericks before under your Apple ID, then it is no longer currently available.
OS X Mountain Lion is still available on the Mac App Store, but you must purchase a special email download code to download and install it from the Mac App Store.
Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.
To install OS X  10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks (currently unavailable) or OS X 10.10 Yosemite.you need one of these Macs:
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion purchased emailed download code here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory (I strongly advise, at least, 4 GBs of RAM or more)
8 GB or more of available space
    Next,
If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward). OS X Snow Leopard had a magical and invisible PowerPC emulation application, called Rosetta, that worked seamlessly in the background that still allowed older PowerPC coded software to still operate in a Intel CPU Mac.
The use of Rosetta ended with OS X Snow Leopard as the Rosetta application was licensed to Apple, from a software company called Transitive, which got bought out, I believe, by IBM and Appe  could no longer secure their rights to continue to use Rosetta in later versions of OS X.
So, you would need to check to see if you have software on your Mac that maybe older than, say, 2006 or older.
Also, check for app compatibilty  here.

If you have any commercial antivirus installed and/or hard drive cleaning apps installed on your Mac, like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, TuneUpMyMac, MacCleanse, etc. now would be a good time to completely uninstall this apps by doing a Google search to learn how to properly uninstall these types of apps.
These types of apps will only cause your Mac issues later after the install of the new OS X version and you will have to completely uninstall these types of apps later.
Once you have determined all of this, you should be able to find the latest versions of OS X by clicking on the Mac App Store icon in the OS X Dock and then login to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID and password and if you purchased a download code, input that code.
You can then begin the download and installation process of installing the newer versions of OS X from the Mac App Store.

  • Downloading CS5 with serial numbers from disks onto new computer

I have adobe creative suite 5 design premium from disks that I bought. I want to upload them to my new computer but my new computer does not have a place to put the cd disks in. I tried to download it online by typing in my serial numbers on the back of the box, but when I do that it says the code is invalid. What do I do?

    Hi dmorimoto13,
    You can try these steps,

  • CS5 installation as upgrade from CS4 info...

Hi! I bought the upgrade suite cs5.... I already installed the version cs4 suite. I must first uninstall the version CS4 and after install the CS5? or can I leave them both installed? create conflict? What do you recommend?
    Thanks!

Perfect! thanks Bob!! I still hold CS4 projects just because I still open, but I am very pleased with this new version of cs5 really performing! Thanks again.

  • I have CS5 Production Premium Upgrade from CS4 PP

... which is NOT an upgrade - it's the full version.
What I'd like to know is, can I sell the CS4 Production Premium now, or must I keep it to retain the eligibility of my CS5 product?
I don't want to do anything illegal, or leave myself without upgrade eligibility cover for CS5 (and beyond), but conversely I don't want to keep this software if I no longer need it.
Hope someone can give a definitive answer.
    Many thanks,
    Neil

If you used CS4 as the basis to get upgrade pricing than the CS5 license replaces the CS4 license. You CANNOT transfer CS4 as it is now legally tied to CS5.

  • Do I need to uninstall my current version CS5 before I upgrade from the cloud?

and do I need to deauthorise CS5?

No. You can keep CS5 around, if you so desire. If you feel you won't need it, feel free to deactivate and uninstall it before getting CS6.

  • I have just ordered download via email to upgrade from 10.6.8 to Lion.  Will I need my original mac installation disc?

I don't have it anymore unfortunately after it was damaged in storage, so I'm concerned.  It's an iMac I bought in mid 2007.
If someone could set my mind at ease about this I would be very grateful.
    Many thanks

Has an internal drive fail been known to happen during an upgrade or do you just mean generally?  Sorry if that seems a really stupid question, but I am stupid when it comes to this sort of thing!

  • Unable to download recovery media after upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10

Purchased computer with Windows 8.1 preinstalled on July 9, 2015.   Dowloaded to discs recovery media  for Windows 8.1. Elected to download Windows 10 and installed same on July 30, 2015.  Attempted to download recovery media for Windows 10 but refused because only 1 download is permitted.  How do I get the computer to download Windows 10? Also for some reason the warranty start date is May 5, 2015 rather than the date I registered the computer with HP.  How can I change the start date?

  • Downloading Mountain Lion upgrade from App Store failed

I'm upgrading my wife's iMac from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion. Just tried to download the Mountain Lion upgrade from the App Store. I paid for it, clicked on the download, the little icon did it's fancy leap down to the application bar at the bottom of the page, and the item in the app store said it was downloading as well as the white bar beneath the icon in the app bar at the bottom of the screen. Nothing happened. I left the computer and came back about ten minutes later. The app store had crashed. Rebooted it. Tried the download process again. Same result.
I paid about $20 for the system software upgrade so I would like, if possible, to use the app store item if I can. Is there a solution without a trip to the Apple Store to buy the system upgrade?
    John Kendrick

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.

  • Can I remove photoshop cs2 after I have upgraded from cs2 to cs5?

Can I remove Photoshop CS2 after I have upgraded from CS2 to CS5?  I upgraded from CS2 to CS5 quite a while ago and I have never removed CS2.  Will it affect CS5 to remove the old CS2 if it was an upgrade?

If I were you I would just delete the installed  Adobe CS2 folder. Adobe CS2 uninstaller my remove settind CS5 made to your system after CS2.   The CS2 uninstaller may try to restore settings to a point in time where there was no Photoshop installed on your system.  If you do a CS un-install you may need to then Install CS5 on top of itself the update cs5 for the install will not have the updates you will be back at CS5 level .

  • MARS upgrade from CLI - not working

here's the syntax from the MARS online help to run the CLI upgrade utility
    pnupgrade http://10.1.1.1/package [user] [passwd]
works ok if using FTP and "package" is located in the root directory of the FTP server
trying to download and install an upgrade from a non-root subfolder and MARS complains.
is there some restriction on where the upgrade package resides on the source server?
    thanks
    -randy

the ftp server is a product calledMoveIT-DMZ - which apparently supports FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SCP, etc.
I also had the same problem with a freeware FTP server (WARftpdaemon) running on my laptop - upgrade works fine unless I put the upgrade files in some subdirectory.

  • Problem installing PS-CS2 upgrade from Version 4

I upgraded my Photoshop software from Version 4.0 to Version CS2 in July of 2006. At the time, I had an issue installing it and had no problems calling Adobe and having them walk me through a couple extra steps to install the program (because it was a "special" upgrade that was offered from a version earlier than 5.5, which was normally what you had to have in order to upgrade to CS2). So, no problem there, got the program installed.
Fast forward to this week, when I received a new computer for Christmas (a little early) and I tried installing the software. I called Adobe and they said they can't help me because the software is now out of its "support" time frame and the only way they could help me was if I purchased CS4. I have searched online at Adobe for a couple hours and can't find anything giving me the information I need to duplicate the extra steps I had to take when I initially installed the program 3.5 years ago. I don't use Photoshop a lot but there are a few times when I use it for photos and so upgrading is not something that I want to do at the moment (CS2 is fine for what I need). Is there anyone out there that can help me, or perhaps point me in the right direction with the correct information?

Are these the extra steps, in this case for CS4, that involve a challenge-response from an Adobe rep?  These same steps could be performed by a keygen, which is why Adobe went to background server activation and blacklisting.  The scenario this quote is from involves upgrading from a promotional Elements that came with a tablet.  The message is from 10/5/09 3:28pm (CDT?):
"The customer representative asks me to open PS CS4.  It goes straight to the activation page.  I enter my PS CS4 S/N and hit 'Next'.  It goes to the page where it requires the PS Elements version and Serial Number.  The representative indicates that I leave the SN space blank and press Ctrl+Shift and click inside the activation dialog twice.
It goes to an 'Upgrade Code Entry Dialog' window where it shows a Challenge Code that I had to give to this person on the other side of the phone.
2 minutes later, this person gives me a 6 or 8 digit code that activates my Photoshop license.  And that was it."
I am not sure what the equivalent is for CS2 but I think there is some way to get to a Phone Activation thing, which you may have already done, that involves a challenge-response .  The unfortunate part is that it involves an Adobe person, and they've already told you they don't support the older version.
It's possible you could tell them you are doing a phone activation and not say what version you have and see if they can give you the correct response code, anyway, although it may be version-specific and if I remember changes each time you do it, so may not be valid for more than one activation attempt.

  • CS5 to CS6 upgrade and creative cloud pricing

I dont understand adobe's logic with pricing of upgrades compared to the cloud.
I bought the cs5 master collection upgrade from a single suit at least in part because I assumed each subsequent upgrade would be about $800.  I skipped cs5.5 because it
    a) it was priced as a whole version number upgrade
    b) my core apps werent updated.
Now I come to upgrade to CS6 and find that I have to pay again for a single suit upgrade. There is no upgrade path from CS5 master to CS6 master.  That is a rip off to start.
I also find that even paying the full price on yearly contract its far cheaper to go with the cloud over the expected lifetime of the product: over 2 years its $1200.  The upgrade path I have available is around $1500.
How does that make the upgrade viable?
And finally having to post this here because there is no formal route to contact adobe sales via email. If anyone can provide one i'd be obliged.

I have had Adobe software for a long long time, and I decided to drop my perpetual licenses for the Creative Cloud. I upgrade every version anyway (more or less) so it's not a big deal for me price wise.
I also use more than just the Production suite software (Acrobat and Dreamweaver) so Creative Cloud sort of consolidates all of that.
My current experience is...the Creative Cloud is a work in progress. There are still features that aren't there yet, like the Creative Cloud desktop app, and some other functionality that's all coming sometime later this summer or this year. The online storage is nice. The website hosting is nice too (although I haven't quite got it working yet).
I do have access to other programs I didn't have before like InDesign and Fireworks, so I've found those interesting to toy around with. Over the years I'd occasionally get an InDesign layout from someone and be unable to do anything with it, so that does solve a rare problem for me as well.
I'd say if you qualify for the discount pricing (which means you're either a student/teacher/edu subscriber, or own an existing CS3, CS4 or CS5 suite) then the $29/month is awesome. Just do it. If you're looking at the $49/month price, maybe not so much.
If you are only an infrequent creative type and only do video/image/print projects occasionally, go with the month-to-month plan and you don't have to worry about getting stuck on the long term, and you only pay for the software whenever you need it.
