Downloading Flash MX 2004

I have lost my cd for flash mx 2004 and my computer recently
crashed and lost all of it's files. I still have the code for
flash, but I don't have a cd to download it. I dont want to have to
buy a newer version so I was wondering where I could redownload
flash mx 2004 and then just insert my code. Thanks.

You can still buy MX 2004 books with trial installers (such
as the Hands On Training book, which I have myself, and saw
recently at both Borders and Amazon).
I just don't know whether your license key will still be
honored when you trial to register through a trial copy. Personally
I would risk it and give it a try. And if it didn't work, I'd look
for a cheap licensed copy of Flash 8. Flash 8 is almost the same as
Flash 7 (MX 2004), just a little more advanced and easier to
use.

Once a new version is released, the previous version is no
longer available - MX 2004 id flash
version 7 and currently we are at version 9 (Flash CS3) so
the MX 2004 trial has not been available
for about 2 years.

Embedding music; XSPF vs. Flash MX 2004

I'm working on a little personal site that feaatures articles about musicians and short sound clips of some of the their best songs. I've found two good ways to have a little embedded player: XSPF (frree from SourceForge.net) or Flash. Two things I'm worried about: If I use XSPF, it appears the user's browser will download the player and a playlist to the mp3 music file on the server. Pretty much the same way Flash works, I believe, except I think the wav/mp3 is imbedded in a Flash file. Sounds viable. Second thing I'm worried about: I bought Flash MX 2004 from Macromedia before they were bought out by Adobe. It's an old version, but I'm assuming it can do something as simple as create a little player? I didn't really explore it much after I bought it. Any tips appreciated.

1) WMA is not a suitable file type for the web. Use MP3.
2) You don't need to re-invent the wheel.
3) For a better user experience, get a Flash MP3 Player that supports playlists (see link below).

For people who don't have Flash capability (iPhone/iPad, etc...), also provide direct links to the MP3 files. Almost everyone has an MP3 capable player like iTunes installed on their system.

Flash MX 2004 Professional V7.2

Can anyone assist - I have Flash MX 2004 Professional V7.2
but do not seem able to find the Active Content Update Extension
for this version. The downloads available seem to be for V7.0 or
Flash 8.

just change the codebase attribute in the object tag to
version=6,0,0,0 or 7,0,0,0 in the JS file, im pretty sure that all
you would need to do.

I'm running the new aluminum unibody model of the MacBook Pro, 15" with up-to-date specs, so space/RAM isn't an issue. I recently found my Flash MX 2004 disk which says it is fine to run on both Windows and Mac. I install it, but when I try to run it, it immediately crashes. Any tips of what I can do from anyone? I have the serial number, but I have been unable to find a demo version to download from online into which I can input the serial number to activate it.

Help with Flash MX 2004

I have a template designed in flash 2004 MX.
I would like to modify this (html links, action script via browser/network.)
I have flash 8 professional but this do not seems to do it.
#1. Can this be done with flash 8, if so how.
#2. If flash cannot do it, then what do I need.
I try to test Macromedia version but I am getting a trial license expired and it will not load.

Flash MX 2004 isn't supported on Windows Vista. You might
have better luck downloading Virtual PC 2007 (free) and making a
Windows XP image, then loading Flash MX 2004 onto that XP image
instead of Vista. Of course you will need a copy of Windows XP.

Flash CS3 is supported under Vista if your looking to

Frustrating attempts to open and download Flash Player.

Hi y'all. I have Windows Vista 64-bit OS and attempting to download Flash Player through Firefox. However, each time I make this attempt,
the "SAVE" box appears followed by the "DOWNLOAD" box that disappears after one second so that I cannot then Open or RUN the Player as requested.
This has happened repeatedly and attempts to do so have appeared on the download history (many of which I'v since erased). The trouble is, I don't know why. I have ceased operation of antivirus programs for this effort as well. What am I doing wrong?

Error message when downloading flash?

I am trying to download flash but every time I try the installation is stopped by an error message telling me that a more current software version is needed. I go to the directed site to get the more current version but get the same version and the same error message. It is an ugly circle. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks.

Why Can't I Download Flash Player?

I have repeatedly tried to download Flash Player after getting pop-up messages from Adobe that tell me I cannot open attachments to emails because I need Flash Player 9.0 or higher. The messages say to download the latest Flash Player click here. I follow the instructions to the letter and get a message that the download of Flash Player 10 has successfully been completed. Then the next time I try to open an email attachment I get the same failure message. I have also gotten led to an Adobe tutorial entitled Flash Player | 64-bit operating systems which directs me to select the 32-bit Internet Explorer system on my computer by going to Start>Programs. I followed the download instructions using the 32-bit IE system and the download message says that Flash Player 10.0 has been successful. But I still cannot open the email attachments and still get the message that I need to download Flash Player 9.0 or higher. If I go to my complete list of programs on the Install or Remove Programs, I find a listing for several Adobe products such as Acrobat, ReaderX, Digital each of which has a size in bytes. Flash Player 10 is listed but there is nothing shown in the byte size column.
My computer is a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion with an Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40 GHz 64-bit operating system using Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2. The default browser which I use is Internet Explorer 64-bit.
I'm 80 years old and trying hard to get along with computers. Please know that any help provided on this frustrating problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. And please make your suggestions in great detail without assuming I know very much.

Hi James, Check and make sure the Shockwave Flash Object is Enabled in your IE manage addons.
In FF, look for the Shockwave Flash plugin and make sure it's Enabled.
Make sure you are using the 32bit browser and not the 64bit.
Also check this for IE: (you want this OFF, not on)
To turn on ActiveX Filtering
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Safety, and then click ActiveX Filtering.
To turn off ActiveX Filtering on a specific website
In Internet Explorer, click the Filter button in the Address bar, and then click Turn off ActiveX Filtering.
To turn off ActiveX Filtering on all websites
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Safety, and then click ActiveX Filtering.
I don't have time to check on why Chrome is not working. Make sure your Anti-Virus is not blocking.
Also when you are trying to Install, all browser windows must be Closed.

New iMac with 10.6.2 - but when tried to install Flash MX 2004 pgm crashes

First, perhaps there's a list somewhere of pgms that won't run under snow leopard?
We just got a new iMac 21.5" with 10.6.2
Trying to migrate pgms we had on our old G4 - like Flash MX 2004. After a clean install - it keeps crashing. Console log shows:

Flash MX 2004 is quite ancient. Latest shows it's viable for OS X 10.3. For compatibility info, start with http://www.macintouch.com/specialreports/snowleopard/slcompat.html
