Downloading Flash

I am so lost!  I need help!  I've been on the phone
with 5 tech people and so far no one can help me.  I am simply trying to download Adobe flash.  My computer is 6 months old and is equipped with
Windows 7.  There recently was an outage with my internet.  Once it was restored I needed a new IP address.  When that was completed and my computer was able to connect to the internet, I still could not access any web page with a graphic.  So basically, nothing.  I was prompted to reset my computer to a time last week.  Upon completing that my Norton Security no longer worked.  After and hour on the phone with them, I was told that everything was back working with Norton, but I was still unable to access certain websites like Facebook and Amazon.  I was told that I needed to download Adobe flash in order to properly view these websites.  The tech from my cable provider tried, and the Norton tech tried, but neither was able to download Adobe.  When I try nothing happens.  No pop-up warning, no new pages... nothing.  The Norton guy disabled Norton for 15 minutes to try to see if that was the cause of the program not  being able to download... but that wasn't the case either.  Someone please help me!  I run an online business and have not been able to function because I cannot get onto these websites.  HELP!

  • Frustrating attempts to open and download Flash Player.

Hi y'all. I have Windows Vista 64-bit OS and attempting to download Flash Player through Firefox. However, each time I make this attempt,
the "SAVE" box appears followed by the "DOWNLOAD" box that disappears after one second so that I cannot then Open or RUN the Player as requested.
This has happened repeatedly and attempts to do so have appeared on the download history (many of which I'v since erased). The trouble is, I don't know why. I have ceased operation of antivirus programs for this effort as well. What am I doing wrong?

I don't understand what is happening.  Can you try to download the installer from the links in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580

  • Why Can't I Download Flash Player?

I have repeatedly tried to download Flash Player after getting pop-up messages from Adobe that tell me I cannot open attachments to emails because I need Flash Player 9.0 or higher.  The messages say to download the latest Flash Player click here.  I follow the instructions to the letter and get a message that the download of Flash Player 10 has successfully been completed.  Then the next time I try to open an email attachment I get the same failure message.  I have also gotten led to an Adobe tutorial entitled Flash Player | 64-bit operating systems which directs me to select the 32-bit Internet Explorer system on my computer by going to Start>Programs.  I followed the download instructions using the 32-bit IE system and the download message says that Flash Player 10.0 has been successful.  But I still cannot open the email attachments and still get the message that I need to download Flash Player 9.0 or higher.  If I go to my complete list of programs on the Install or Remove Programs, I find a listing for several Adobe products such as Acrobat, ReaderX, Digital each of which has a size in bytes.  Flash Player 10 is listed but there is nothing shown in the byte size column.
My computer is a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion with an Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40 GHz  64-bit operating system using Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2.  The default browser which I use is Internet Explorer 64-bit.
I'm 80 years old and trying hard to get along with computers.  Please know that any help provided on this frustrating problem will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  And please make your suggestions in great detail without assuming I know very much.

Hi James, Check and make sure the Shockwave Flash Object is Enabled in your IE manage addons.
In FF, look for the Shockwave Flash plugin and make sure it's Enabled.
Make sure you are using the 32bit browser and not the 64bit.
Also check this for IE: (you want this OFF, not on)
    To turn on ActiveX Filtering
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Safety, and then click ActiveX Filtering.
To turn off ActiveX Filtering on a specific website
In Internet Explorer, click the Filter button in the Address bar, and then click Turn off ActiveX Filtering.
To turn off ActiveX Filtering on all websites
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Safety, and then click ActiveX Filtering.
I don't have time to check on why Chrome is not working. Make sure your Anti-Virus is not blocking.
Also when you are trying to Install, all browser windows must be Closed.
Will check back later, but it's best to start you own topic as Pat suggested and flutie has done.

I've also found direct downloads for the trial version and hit the set-up button, it loads up, and then nothing happens.

  • "Server Not Found" Message when downloading Flash Player

    Hello,
I am trying to download Macromedia Flash Player using my
Firefox browser, but when I click on "Download Now" an error
    message appears:
    "Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at fpdownload.macromedia.com.
    * Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of
    www.example.com
    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's
    network
    connection.
    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or
    proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
There is no such problem when I use Internet Explorer, but my
preferred browser is Firefox. Is there any reason why Firefox can't
access the server? Or is there another site I can download Flash
    from?
I downloaded the latest Firefox version a couple of days ago,
    v1.5.0.2
    I use Windows ME.
    Thanks,
    HeywoGr

sounds like a local issue on your end with firefox. I can
    connect with FF here:

    Maybe restart FF?

Hello I use a macbook pro with OSX 10.9.5. I am trying to download Flash player but keep getting this message "Install Adobe Flashplayer" is damaged and can't be opened. You should eject the disk image.Any ideas please?

You should make sure you do a complete uninstall of the flash player first and then install the latest FP14 version from this link - Use http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_osx.dm g
In order to do a complete uninstall - Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS

After clicking Safari prompt box to "Download Flash..." , I'm linked to the Adobe Flash Player Download page. I click the "Download Now". The page advance to next page in the download process but then immediately goes black and nothing happens. System preferences firewall is off and apps are allowed from anywhere and in Safari other plug ins are allowed and cookies are not blocked and pop up windows are not blocked. Why won't Flash Player download?

Don't DL Flash from web sites. If you have Adobe Flash installed it should be in System Preferences and you can find the latest version and download from there.
If you are installing for the first time, this is where to DL it.

  • Why does the system keep requesting I download Flash 8.0.0?

    Mac G5. Final Tiger.
Occasionally I listen to online audio from a variety of sources with no problem.
Occasionally when I try to do that I get a message (or a button) to download Flash 8.0.0. I have done that several times. Once the app is installed (as far as I know it is), I may then click on that audio file and up comes that same message/button again to d/l Flash 8.0.0.
If I try to find Flash on my system, it is somehow not clear to me what I've found.
Let me try right now and see what comes up (I'll summarize):
Using Spotlight my "Top Hit" says "Adobe Flash Player Install Manager." When I open that it gives me choices of Quit or Uninstall, but no version number. And if Flash 8 or later is indeed installed, how do I know where it is? (It may indeed be a plug-in somewhere but——?) I also have here and there about 6 or 7 Flash-labeled folders. One for example in Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CS4/Samples. One more in my Library/Preferences/Macromedia folder (though I use no Macromedia apps).
Now let me check my plug-ins for (latest) Safari: There's a Shockwave Flash. There is this: "Verified Download Plugin — from file “VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin,” but no further info. I also have Click to Flash 1.5.5.
What is my best action here? And I thank you.

you can see your fp version here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
in the future, ignore any message recommending you download fp 8.  that's an old version and no doubt the creator of that flash player detector is using out-dated code giving you mis-information.
