From where can I download developer 6i forms for oracle 8i on
windows 2000.Please let me know.

I just received the following in an email from ODTUG. Wanted to share it with others asap.
ORACLE'S ANNOUNCEMENT ON CLIENT/SERVER SUPPORT ON WINDOWS XP (3-14-03)
As you know, Oracle is committed to Oracle Forms and is focusing its development, testing, and certification resources on Oracle9i Forms, the latest release of
the product, part of Oracle9i Application Server. Therefore, the certification of previous versions of Oracle Forms (Forms 6i Client/Server) was not planned
on recent versions of the Windows operating system Windows XP).
Given the feedback that Oracle received about this announcement from various user forums and from direct discussions with customers, we have undergone a review
of our policy. This has primarily taken into account business cases provided by customers and partners supporting the case for XP certification. As a result,
we are now of the opinion that even though many organizations have already scheduled their upgrade to Oracle9i Forms, the support and certification of Windows XP for Forms 6i Client/Server deployment appears, in the short term, to be necessary to ease the transition toward this upgrade.
As such, Oracle Forms 6i with Patchset 13 (6.0.8.22) and above will be certified for Client/Server deployment on Windows XP Professional. Windows XP will be the final major Windows operating system that Oracle will certify for Forms 6i Client/Server deployment. Of course, Oracle9i Forms Developer and the Oracle9i Forms Client (web-based deployment) will continue to evolve and be certified on new operating systems as they are released.

Crash when genarating forms on Win 2000

When we generate some complex moduls with forms
generator on Win 2000, the generator posts the messages
of internal error which occurs in some function inside generator.
Sometimes the designer is also close by OS because of
illegal operation.
On Win NT 4.0 the generation produce nice form.
We use Designer 6i rel. 2. Is there maybe some patch on rel 2 for Win 2000 ?
We can't migrate to release 4 now.

Forms 6i webforms under Win 2000

I was trying to use Forms 6i under win 2000 and I get a message on the install indicating webforms only runs on NT. I understand the problem, but how long will it be before you have a version for win 2000?
Or is their additional docs that would help with this install?

On the install I have a box come up that says
"You have selected Developer 2000 Webforms which is installble only on Windows NT 4.0 only. Press OK to continue to install other modules or press cancel to terminate".
Other modules install. Just the webforms does not.
This was our first install on Win 2000. We had planned 2000 as the operating system for 9iAS also. Are we better off just going back to NT 4.0 for now? Is 9iAS win 2000 ready?

Oracle 9.2.0.3 or 9.2.0.4 on Win 2000

In the OTN downloads page, I see that I can download the database for version 9.2.0.1 (Standard Edition), for Win 2000.
I have been informed that the Developer Suite for 9i, with the 9.2.0.6.0 patch, is certified to run with database 9.2.0.3 or 9.2.0.4.
My question: Is database 9.2.0.3 (or 9.2.0.4) also available as an OTN download? If so, how can I access it?
Alternately: Does anyone have reliable information as to whether Developer Suite 9i (with patch 9.2.0.6.0) can also run against database 9.2.0.1? (All on Win 2000).
I am stressing the patch 9.2.0.6.0 issue, as I am told that prior to this patch, there were problems with setting up the Repository (needed for working with Designer).

Nope. There is no Database 9.2.0.3 for Win 32-bit (cd-pack/full release).
There is Database 9.2.0.1 (full release) and Patch Sets that brings it up to 9.2.0.3 (or .4 or .2). Patch Sets are, as I know, only available from Metalink with a valid support contract.
Note that AS and DS are 9.*0*.2. (confusing, yeah!)
Here on OTN we can find:
Oracle9i Designer Release 9.0.2.6.0 - a full, patch release for Oracle9i Designer
(You must install this over your Oracle9i DS installation)
Note the difference - patchset is for Designer/Repository 9i as part of DS, not the whole DS product stack (latest patchset for Forms & Reports is 9.0.2.3 I think). Patching Oracle (except for DB) is messy as always I guess ;)
I would guess that Oracle Support recommends to have DS patchset 9.0.2.2 installed also...
And cert info includes a requirement for at least 9.2.0.3 (DB) so I guess you have smoe patching to look forward to ;-D

Related to creating pdf file through form6i in Win 2000

I have created a form which will generate pdf file by calling a report. I am able to generate pdf files in platforms like Win 2000,Win NT,Win 98. But expect in Win 2000, I am able to read the pdf file in acrobat.
The error displayed while opening pdf in acrobat is: There was a error processing this page,There was a problem to read this page (122).
Form6i and Reports6i is installed in Win 2000 and acrobat reader version is 5.0

Sorry Im totally new to acrobat so this may seem like a daft question> I have scanned a document through a document feed scanner into a pdf format but some of the pages are orientated the wrong way within the pdf, is there a way to change the direction of pages and then save the whole pdf again so that everything is the right way round. I know that you can change the orintation while reading the pdf but as this is being put into web ct for students I would prefer for them not to have to do this.

Get Windows Folder Paths on Win 2000

I downloaded the windows_folder_path.vi from NI site, where I can see that "This VI is supported on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista."
If I use it in an executable that searches for Application Data folder, it works under XP, but it doesn't under a fresh Win 2000 SP4 installation.
A pop-up with the message:
Entry poin Not found
The procedure entry point SaferGetPolicyInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll
is shown.
When I press the OK button, another popup
LabVIEW: Resource not found.
An error occurred loading VI 'windows_folder_path.vi'.
LabVIEW load error code 3: Could not load front panel.
I'm confused because here (MSDN, Microsoft Developer Network) I can see that the SaferGetPolicyInformationfunction requires WinXP or Vista
Isn't this vi expected working properly under Win 2000?
In the next days I'll do the same test on a Vista machine, and I hope....
How can I get the Application Data path on WinXP, 2000 and Vista? With different languages OS this folder has a different name (Application Data, Dati Applicazioni, ...) so I can't build the path by myself.

Use the registry functions of LV to get direct access.
The folders for the current logged in user is under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders, the value is AppData
The Fodlers for all users is under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders, the value is Common AppData

Ipod nano possible with win 2000???

my wife just got an ipod nano \(3rr gen) for her bday, and we have a computer with win 2000. now the only itunes we can find for win 2000 is ver. 7.3. when i downloaded this it tells me that i need ver. 7.4 or better. anyone got any info or tips for me... PLEASE

NO. That is NOT what the website says. When you go to the 732 for Windows 2000 d/l page, it clearly states you can use Win2k. The website says "iTunes is the best way to enjoy your digital music and video with your PC, iPod and Apple TV. iTunes 7.3.2 for Windows 2000 is designed to work with Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or later. To use iTunes with Windows XP or Windows Vista, visit http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ to download the latest version. Why have so many missed this??? Apple is clearly stating they support Win2k - including sync to ipod. I so got one. I d/l the iTunes 732 for Win2k and it works fine - to play music (using it right now). But once I connect my new nano, I get the error message "The iPod 'IPOD' cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.4 or later. Go to www.blah blah to d/l v7.4..." So.... what now??? I'm stumped. And never-mind the "win2k is old and nobody supports it..." stuff... Microsoft still offers SP4 for d/l.
Why would Apple put a utility in a backward compat. program that is not backward compatible?????
In addition (and this may be over my head), but why does the website show the file @ 47.7MB, put once on my hd it shows 37.9MB?? I've d/l the file twice to be sure but have the same result.
Please forgive me - I am not shooting the messenger, I'm terribly confused. I am clearly missing something. Would someone PLEASE set me straight??? I'm a big boy - I can take it.

Hello,
I've been using Dev 2000 ver 6i for several months sucessfully on Win 2K RC2. The compiled .fmx's work fine with the ver 6.0 runtime environment under NT 4.0.
The only problem is that the Forms Server won't work till the 1st patch set comes out
(only Oracle knows when!) , so you can't test or deploy the forms as web apps on Win 2K yet. OAS 4.0 appears to work ok on Win 2K.
I have been using the Beta version of Dev 6i and will upgrade to the release version eventually, probably when the patch comes out.

When i try to connect forms6i with the DB[Oracle 8i] in Win 2000 I get an error stating TNS could not resolve service name. The error number is ORA-12154.

Hi "User", seems you have the same problem
like all that do their first-time install :-)
Forms uses a different Oracle_HOME (required by setup), and hence does not "see" the "settings" of the normal client.
Try the following:
- Set up a connection with NET80-Tools
- Test with SQL*PLUS
- Copy "tnsnames.ora" from the Client-81-Home
to the forms-Home, e.g.
cd ORACLE/FORMS/NET80/ADMIN
copy ORACLE/ORA81/NETWORK/ADMIN/tnsnames.ora
Of course, you'll have to check for YOUR
directory names...this is just a samples, resp. mthe setup of a machiche I configured yesterday. HTH.

FLV and Win 2000??

Hi everyone!!
Im finishing a web site and in some momento I call flv videos
dynamicaly
in a new movieclip, through progressive download.
In my machine it works ine, same for MAC's and PC's using win
WP.
But for win 2000, some times the video doesn't appear, or
play the first
frame and stop.
In all the cases the FLV player component appears in the
window, but the
flv video not.
Someone could help me???

It is 2.9. I have installed the JRE version 1.4.2 on the Win2k PC. I understand the problems that this JRE version may have with CMS. With 1.4.2 JRE installed, when I try to access Location manager it gives an error. I dont remember exactly the error message right now, but I will paste the output tomorrow.

Problem EP7 with Win 2000

Almost end users portal have OS win 2000 and IE 6. When those users are logged in into ep7, the system shows the following error EPCM is undefined. That only happened with users in win2000 because in winXP all works fine.

I had same problem like "EPCM is undefined". I applied the solution given in the link above but it did not work then i found another solution for that problem.Just download the registry file in below and run it then restart your pc and try run portal again on the computers which have problem .
