Downloading Free Podcasts

I'm trying to help out my mom with her computer. I download free podcasts all the time on my computer and was trying to show her what they are all about. But, when I call them up, the "Subscribe" button isn't highlighted and I can't get them. I'm able to purchase songs, but not get free downloads.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

  • Can't download free podcast?!

i'm new to this podcast thing and i've been trying to download a podcast recently, and i can't. It says the podcast is free but it won't allow me to click on the get episode icon. what can i do???

couldn't subscribe to oprah/tolle or get free episodes
subscribe and get episodes were dimmed
deleted and unsubscribed to all of my existing podcasts
quit itunes, and when it returned, subscribe and get episodes were no longer dimmed
this was probably overkill, but it worked

  • Downloading free podcasts directly to iphone

Whilst I can buy music directly through the iphone from the itunes store, I seem to be unable to download those free and wonderful podcasts like "football weekly on guardian unlimited", "Naked Scientists" or "TWIT". When I search on the phone for "unlimited", say, all it comes up with are potential purchases of songs with that word in the title. Is the free stuff limited to the marginally more cumbersome syncing with my laptop and that the direct connection to the itunes store is only really provided as long as it can turn a buck? I hope to be disabused.

Consider checking into see if the podcast is also available via YouTube. Many podcast are also being distributed via YouTube. If so, then it can be streamed to the iPhone. Do not know your particular interest is but it is worth looking into...

  • Listener's Audio Bible "Bible in a Year" free podcasts are not downloading.

Is there anything I can do to report download problems on free podcasts?  Three days in a row.  Thanks. iTunes is current and up to date.

I also wish to perform the 'free' upgrade to the mavericks OS however I am prompted to enter credit card details. This is neither appropriate and obstructive to my apple experience. I only wish to perform the upgrade and will give my details at a later date should I wish to make a future purchase. Please let me know what options are available to me without entering credit card details. It seems an unnecessary request for my financial information for which I don't/can't provide and is already limiting my iphone experience. I wish to use apple products in the future however I fail to see the logic of the credit card requirement for a "free" upgrade. An annoying roadblock to a smooth user experience.

How is your iPod configured to sync Podcasts via its Podcasts configuration tab?  Have all of these podcasts successfully download to your iTunes library?  Do they podcasts play in iTunes?

  • I downloaded some podcasts, but I can't find them. Where are they?

I just downloaded 17 podcasts episodes. The iTunes confirms that they're in the iPhone (4S), but I can't find them.
I already looked in the "Music" section, "More", etc. But the "Podcasts" item it's no there. Neither in the "Video" section.
Do I need an app to make they work?
    Where they could be?
    Thanks!
    Ana C.

They are no longer supported in the Music app. You need to download the Podcast app from the App store. It is free.

  • How to delete a free podcast video from the Videos Ap on iPad2

I downloaded a free podcast called Stella Culinary Cooking Techniques CT005l Steak Pan Roasting Episode. It downloaded into the standard VIDEOS Ap and when you open this it opens as a Podcast - playing time 4:26.
I now want to delete it and I have tried every possible way of deleting by pressing my finger firmly on the picture of the download and patiently waiting for the 'x' to appear (top left as it normally should). Nothing happens.
I have turned off iCloud and Restrictions in General Settings also -This has also not worked. As a result I will be very reluctant in the future to download anything from iTunes.
I simply want to get this video off my IPad and would welcome help from any user. Help ASAP would be appreciated. Thank you

    Thanks for your advice.
After posting my question and after trying all possible ways. I managed to stumble on the solution as under:
    1. Open Videos Ap
    2. Press and hold finger over 'podcast' at the top left hand corner.
    3. The downloaded video will show and there will be an 'Edit' button on the top right.
    4. Press Edit and la 'x' will appear at the corner of the video.
    5. Pressing 'X' offers two options -  1. To Delete download & 2. To Save it.
    6. Pressing Delete solved the problem successfully.
The above might help someone else who may have had this problem. Thanks once again.

  • Can't download songs/podcasts,  -69 error message

I bought a song last week from the iTunes Store, and the download failed, saying:
"There was a problem downloading (song). An unknown error occurred (-69).
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."
Since it first happened I cannot download any podcasts, getting the same (err = -69) error message...
I've emailed apple, followed their tips and still no solution, and the follow up email basically said "chin up, and good luck"...
Can any of you guys help me!?

Can you download anything - like the free single of the week?
    Check your internet settings.
Control Panel – Internet Options – Advanced
Check SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0
Uncheck “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)”
    Click okay
Many computers come pre-installed with Norton software (HP & Dell for example). If you have ever had any Norton/Symantec products on your computer they could still be blocking access to the store.

  • ITunes Downloading Video Podcasts - Hangs a few minutes on save

I have iTunes 8 (but this has been going on in older versions)
On a Win XP Pro laptop with 2GB Ram, and a 10mb Internet connection.
When I download new podcasts, the video podcasts download OK, but when each one completes the download and I assume is saving it to iTunes, the iTunes program seems to Hang. I can't do anything in iTunes, the little spinning whell stops, and I have to just sit there for 30 seconds to a min. until it frees up and starts downloading the next podcast. It happens on every video podcast, but not on the audio ones. Anything I can do to fix that? It's anoying.

Seem to be having a similar issue. Has started just recently so something must have changed although I'm not sure what. Maybe a Windows update has broken something?
Download any content from the store, it'll appers in the download folder but is never renamed or transfered into the correct sub folder.
    "  iTunes/Downloads/content_name.tmp/download.m4v  "
Disabled Anti-Virus / Firewall to no effect. Don't think there has been any other system changes that would affet this aside from windows updates.
Windows 7 64bit SP1 running the same 10.2.2.12 build of iTunes.

  • Trouble downloading all Podcasts

    Hello,
I just subscribed to a free Podcast series for my son and iTunes only downloaded the last episode. I would like to download all previous episodes. I know that there was a "Download All" in previous versions of iTunes but don't find it now. I really don't want to have to click the download button for all 122 episodes. Does anyone know how to do this?
    My System:
    Mac Mini
    OS X 10.8.2
    iTunes 11.0.1 (12)
    Podcast Screenshot:
BTW, why are some episodes grayed out and others black? It doesn't have anything to to with whether I've downloaded them or watched them.
    Russell

    Hi Roger,
Thanks for the prompt answer. It worked!
    Here is the screenshot again
I had missed the list option somehow.
Here is the URL of one of the grayed out ones:
    http://podcast.wdr.de/kopfball.xml
As you can see, it's German so I don't know if you even have access to it.
All were black at first. I the clicked Uncheck selection. All were then gray. I unsubscribed and re-subscribed and then it was like in the screenshot. This is not a problem because we can download and play all. I was just curious.
Again, this solved my question. Thanks a bunch.
    Russell

  • Download same podcast to multiple computers?

If I have 3 authorized computers on the same iTunes account. If I download a couple of podcasts on the 1st computer - will I be allowed to download the same podcasts on the other computer(s)?

These were free podcasts. They would just not download onto the 2nd & 3rd computers. But, this turned out to be (probably) an issue with those particular podcasts. They are all downloading correctly today on all 3 computers.

  • Do I get charged for any uploading (possibly even from my web host) when people download a podcast that I have created?

Do I get charged for any uploading (possibly even from my web host) when people download a podcast that I have created?

Not as far as iTunes is concerned: hosting a podcast there is free. However the media files are kept on your server - your ISP or a hosting service - and there may be a limit to bandwidth. If you podcast turned out to be extremely popular then the number of downloads might exceed the allowable bandwidth from your server in a given period and lead to an extra charge or possibly blocking until the period was over: this is something you would have to check with them.
