Downloading from youtube

I want to download videos from youtube to make into a DVD and burn onto a disk. but I'm having trouble figuring out how. Can anyone help??

Welcome to the forums!
There is the Free iTube Grabber which can capture almost any audio and/or video stream (it says here:)
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10972178
Firefox Download Helper is also supposed to work, you have to be logged into YouTube first.
and the RealPlayer Downloader that comes with RealPlayer SP for Mac from:
http://www.real.com/realplayer/mac
which also downloads videos from YouTube.
There is also iTubeX which allows you to download videos (Flash, HTML5 and others), .mp3 and .swf files from almost every website as easily as possible:
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27604/itubex
Lastly: How to download Flash videos and play them in Quicktime using Perian is explained here:

It's the video at the bottom of the page.

  • Storing and playing video in iphone downloaded from Youtube

    Hi,
    I am trying to download a video (that I have downloaded from youtube) through itunes, but unable to do so. The file xtn of the video file is .flv and I have tried " add file to library" and "add folde to library".
    Let me know how I can save this video in the iphone. Of course, I can play this video directly through youtube when I am connected to the network.
    Thanks,

    You can't. It violates DRM.

  • Good program to download from youtube

    Hi All,
    There are a dozen or so videos that I'd like to download from youtube. Does anyone have any recommendations for an easy to use, stable program?
    Thanks

    [Get Flash Videos] ([get_flash_videos]) from the AUR.  It is a command-line program that can download the highest-quality-possible video streams from YouTube as well as many other video streaming websites, and also allows you to log in right there on the console if a video was content-flagged on particular a video-streaming service.  You can also download the subtitles/closed-captions along with video.

  • Safari 6 immediately starts downloading from Youtube

    Since a few days (?) I experience a strange behavior on one of my Macs running Safari 6 & Mountain Lion. Immediately after starting Safari it begins to use the network for a massive download from a youtube server (o-o----preferred---muc03s06---v24-lscache1.c.youtube.com - found that by using the LittleSnitch network monitor). I do not know what it is looking for at this server. Safari and network is blocked for a minute or so, since this download eats up full bandwidth. After that Safari works as normal. As it does with the same configuration on my other Mac. Firefox behaves normal. Reseting Safari does not help.
    I also experience (as others already reported) that cookies (e.g. from youtube) are not deletable. After using the cookie delete function of the Safari config menue they come back after a short time even if Safari sits on a blank page and is not brwosing any webpage ...
    Any ideas other than hoping 10.8.1 will fix this ?
    Regards, Peter

    SOLVED (here is the procedure but don't know exacly why it worked out):
    - closed Safari;
    - in Finder changed to the user specific library directory for Safari :
      /Users/<myname>/Library/Safari. This is a hidden directory, so
      use 'go to' feature in Finder Menu to specify full path name;
    - Saved bookmarks (file: Bookmarks.plist) and readinglist (dir: ReadingListArchives)
      by copying them to the desktop;
    - trashed EVERYTHING in dir /Users/<myname>/Library/Safari;
    - restarted Safari which automatically creates new (default) bookmarks and a blank reading list;
    - figured out now it works and does NOT download something. Closed Safari.
    - restored ReadingListArchives (overwrite with file saved on desktop);
    - still working;
    - restored original bookmarks (overwrite with file saved on desktop, very huge bookmark file);
    - invoked Safari and : again the strange youtube download behavior !
    => the bookmarks file must be corrupted or too huge for Safari, therefore:
    - trashed significant number of bookmarks;
    - exported bookmarks to HTML file using the Safari bookmark export function;
    - quit Safari, trash bookmarks file in Safari lib folder to force new default bookmark file
       on next Safari start;
    - Restart Safari, delete Apple's default bookmarks and import the own bookmarks
      previously saved in HTML format;
    - that obviously generated a sane bookmark file and Safari no more downloads unknow stuff ....
    I don't know exactly what enabling /disabling Java Script and a corrupted bookmark file have to do with each other but it worked.
    Maybe trashing the Safari lib directory (after saving you bookmarks) can cure other Safari 6 malfunctions as well.
    Nevertheless I'd be happy to go back to Safari 5 ...

  • Cant play video downloaded from youtube

    I have downloaded video from youtube in uc browser but when I try to open that video it shows a message that " this video cant be played in this phone".Also the format of video was mp4.From the day I have purchase this Lumia 520 no video I have seen in this device.Also in somecases it shows the message "you need to install a new app fir this task " but when I open the store no app found.When I open you tube in uc browser it shows only mp4 format to download that video.Earlier I have used android phones in that no problem like this I have ever found ,that phone support ever video I instal.Please give me some solution.

    Which Android did you use before?
    YouTube uses a lot of different codecs in their MP4 container. Mobile phones do not support all video codecs, some do support less, some operating system support more. On a personal computer with a tool like MediaInfo, you are able to inpect the content of the MP4 container and which video codec is inside of it actually.

  • How can I download from youtube?? , it always worked before, now it doesnt

    had to update , icon is there, BUT NOT COLORED OR ACTIVE!!!, I want to download from you tube with dhlp , never had this problem b4

    Youtube makes many changes to prevent users from downloading videos (as it is aganist Youtube/Google's Terms of Service), it will likely be fixed with a update. Also note addons are made by third party developers, not Mozilla.

  • Videoplayback.flv file downloaded from YouTube video via Safari will not play

    Hello All,
      Here is my question to you:
      Has Safari been altered in such a manner as to NOT allow you to download videos direct from YouTube to your Mac without some intermediary interface?
      Here are the steps I would use to download the source .flv video file from a video on YouTube to save it on my MacBook Pro:
    1. Open Safari.
    2. Go to http://www.youtube.com.
    3. Enter name of video to view/download in the search bar and hit 'enter'.
    4. Start video.
    5. While video is playing:
         A) Click on 'Window' in Safari's menu bar at the top of the screen.
         B) Select 'Activity'.
    6. A window will open showing data status of the video.
    7. Locate the largest loading file size and wait until it is finished loading.
    8. Double-click on that file size.
    9. A small 'Downloads' window will appear showing file download status.
    10. Navigate to your 'Downloads' folder and drag the file named 'videoplayback.flv to the desktop.
    11.  Double-click the aforementioned file to start the video in a suitable .flv player (I was using SWF & FLV Player originally).
    This process no longer works.  All I get is a black screen when I double-click the downloaded .flv file.
    Notes:
      The file size in Step 7 above would vary accordingly to the length of the video, but now every video I try to save as a .flv is approximately 1.7MB no matter how long the video is.  Something isn't right here.
      I had originally downloaded and used SWF & FLV Player to view my video when the above process used to work, but now it has upgraded itself to Elmedia Player and wants me to upgrade to the PRO edition to be able to download videos from YouTube.
    Any insight to this will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance for reading and responding to my question!
    Sincerely,
    - Austin C.

    Thank you for your timely response and suggestion, Mr. Davis!
      I did exactly as you said, made sure there was NO trace of the Elmedia player anywhere on my machine after the uninstallation procedure, but unfortunately this did not work.
      When I dropped the videoplayback.flv file into the VLC player, I get this error message:
      There is something deeper going on within Safari, I believe.  The fact that different length videos on YouTube all yield the same 1.7MB file size when I try to download them is puzzling.
    Thoughts?

  • How to download from youtube

    How to download video from youtube using the Window on the toolbar without using a plugin?

    Unfortunately, since Youtube's terms forbid downloading content due to copyright and DRM issues, we are not allowed to discuss this here in order not to violate the ToU of these forums.

    Youtube service agreement does not permit downloading to computer.
    As such, any effort to bypass the agreement suggests a method of possibly breaking the law, since it would mean circumventing their copy protection. Please understand any effort to answer your question here will likely result in the thread being locked.

  • Since recent upgrade, can not download from YouTube

    Before the most recent upgrade to Firefox 3.6.8 two weeks ago, everything worked fine with this program. My issue is, I can not copy and paste a URL address from You Tube and download it into a program called Audio Editor. After the upgrade, when I copy and paste the URL address and start to download, there is no download. The message No File Downloaded, please try again. It is like there is nothing there. It worked great for a couple of months.
    Is there a setting in the new version of Firefox that prevents me from copying, pasting and downloading from You Tube?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == after upgrading Firefox 2 weeks ago to 3.6.8

    Hello Tad.
    Can you be more clear about your issue. What I understand from your post is that you "can not copy and paste a URL address from You Tube and download it into a program called Audio Editor". Does this mean that you cannot paste the URL you copy? Or does this mean that Audio Editor is not recognizing the URL?
    Also, this Audio Editor you speak off is not developed by Mozilla, so if it's just that it's not working correctly, you need to contact its author for support.
