Downloading high quality album art

Where can I manually download high quality album covers to display on the AppleTV? I have already modified the track info so the online database does not recognize the songs.
Thanks.

I found this in the forums from someone else a little while ago, but I've been using +http://getvideoartwork.com/+ and absolutely love it! Best quality I've found so far!

  • Good source for quality album art

A good source for getting good quality album art, which has a higher resolution than Amazon, try http://www.coveralia.com/ which eventhough it is in Spanish, simply type the artist in "BUSCADOR:" at the top, and it is obvious from there. I've been using it for five minutes, and looks impressive. My iPod has not arrived yet, so cannot test that part, but I assume it will work as it goes into iTunes ok....

This is the same as copy & pasting from Amazon, which has lower quality. As long as you own the CD, I think you are OK. Anybody else able to comment.

  • High Quality Album Artwork.

I want to 'fill in the blanks' that iTunes has left for all of my album artwork. I tried using jpgs that I acquired from wherever over the Internet but they just don't look that great large.
I'd really like to get the same quality resolution pics that iTunes seems able to consistently acquire.
My question is; Where does iTunes get its album artwork from, where on my computer are these images stored and what typed of file are they? …so I guess I have a few questions!
    Many thanks.

iTunes normally gets its artwork from the iTunes Store which normally provides 600x600 pixel size artwork. As a comparison, Windows Media Player gets its artwork from a Microsoft database with the data provided by various partners and it only gives you a pathetic 200x200 pixels (a ninth the resolution of the iTunes artwork).
Yes, Amazon is a good source, it provides typically 500x500 pixel artwork, but be warned, some of them also include a white border around the artwork which makes it look particularly bad in Coverflow. I find that Walmart is a good source as it also usually provides 500x500 pixels artwork but does not have the nasty white border.
And finally, as has already been indicated, as a last resort you could use Google Images to search for artwork, sometimes even higher resolution than 600x600 is available but really, anything higher is a waste of time (and space).

  • Get album art is incorrect... how do I get the correct one?

I have Queen's Greatest Hits 1 and 2 in iTunes, but when I "Get album artwork", it downloads "Queen Ekanem's Greatest Hits". However, Queen's Greatest Hits album is on iTunes, how do I tell iTunes to download that album art? I have a similar problem with a bunch of albums. Thanks for the help.
BTW, please don't tell me to go to amazon and copy/paste art. I like iTunes high quality album art.

  • ITunes 9.2 blurry album art in Coverflow

I've noticed that performance when using both Coverflow and grid view has improved, however this is at the expense of blurry album art.
Normally art downloaded from the iTunes store is high quality. When you are in cover-flow it is difficult to discern the quality, however go to full screen and you can clearly see the detail in the artwork. However now, when going full screen in cover-flow, all the album artwork has a blurry look.
To compare how full screen album art should look, view the "album art viewer" in the lower left hand corner of iTunes. Click the artwork and it will display at it's original size, compare this image to the artworked viewed in Coverflow Full-Screen. There is a noticible difference in sharpness.
Normally this "blurry effect" only occurs for artwork applied manually via drag and drop and viewed full screen in coverflow mode. It has now been applied to all artwork.
What is the point of high quality album art if it can't be viewed as originally intended? Performance increases are nice, but I preferred the previous coverflow experience even at the expense of a little performance.

I haven't had this issue. I'd download a program such as Media Monkey to see what the resolution of artwork is. Generally an image that is 600X600 will be of excellent quality in iTunes. Other than that, it could be a rare bug.
Have you tried removing the artwork from one song/audiobook and right clicking on it and choose "Get album artwork" to see if that resolves the issue?

  • Keeping the album art

Alright, I've done this once before, but I'm not sure how I did it.
Once, I was downloading the album art for my library, and I guess the download process was stopped, or maybe not. But, I was looking in my temporary internet files, and I noticed that I had over 100 megs of jpgs. These jpgs were the album art jpegs iTunes had downloaded. How do I do this again? It's really cool, and I enjoy having high quality album art jpgs.

Try clicking on the Advanced Tab and then on Get Album Artwork. Does that do it? Sometimes it takes a little bit. I know its worked to find it for my albums.

  • Album Art is not Downloading

Song and album information is downloading but no album art for my store bought cd burns

    hi Katrina
    Thanks for the reply.
The only thing I removed were files stored in a folder outside My Documents. This is not the folder I download items to (ie I added it as a folder previously but was able to download artwork for the songs therein. I don't have iTunes set to organise my files, and cannot for these items as they shared between me and another user on the PC. (We have separate
All iTunes specific items are in their default location under My Documents, My Music, iTunes. The only item I have touched is the Downloaded folder under Album Art which I deleted.

  • How can I reset all my song data - genre, year, album art etc. from CDDB?

Like most people I've built up my music collection over quite a few years.
In the old days, album info often couldn't be found online, and I had to input data manually.
Also, new fields have appeared in the CDDB since I imported some older tracks.
This means that a lot of my songs have data missing in fields, poor quality album art, or inconsistent genres etc.
Is there anyway to strip out this information and get iTunes to go back to the CDDB and download the info (for tracks already in the library) afresh?
The obvious way, selecting an album and choosing "get CD track names" doesn't seem to work if there is already data there, even if it's manually entered and incorrect.
Also, if you try and get new album art, iTunes won't replace art manually associated with the files (i.e. that I added myself from a low-res image 5 years ago).
This must be a fairly common issue - can anyone help to solve it?
Obviously the more global the solution the better - i.e. a way to do it to multiple albums, rather than one track at a time!
    Many thanks in advance
    T.

I have bad news for you...I tried doing the same thing a while back and couldn't find any easy way. Eventually, I had to strip the mp3 tags from the songs and (using a third party mp3 tag editor) had software that automatically looked them up on the net and put the info back in. Then, I had to get the album artwork in iTunes. Quit a pain! I did it one album at a time. Good luck!

  • ITunes 7.7 "fudged" iTMS album art

As of iTunes 7.7, all of the album art I've been trying to download for several of my albums for probably over a year, but have only been available at extremely low resolution, are now downloading in full (600x600) size, but in every case, the images are clearly just blown up versions of the previous small graphics--in other words, they look terrible.
This is definitely what's happening for me, but is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

OK, here is a quick list. I love iTunes Store album art, so I keep on top of my artwork with a lot of enthusiasm
Jane Siberry - Love Is Everything: The Jane Siberry Anthology
(This one looks the worst, since the original artwork was far smaller than the usual "small" size)
Jewel - Joy: A Holiday Collection
    Jewel - Spirit
Lou Reed & John Cale - Songs For Drella
Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Greendale
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - No More Shall We Part
    Ride - Nowhere
(The UK version, which contains the artist and album names on the cover, is available at 600x600, but not the US version, which is the one I have--this version has no text on the cover)
    Tom Waits - Foreign Affairs
    Tom Waits - Small Change
Tori Amos - From The Choirgirl Hotel
    Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
(Interestingly, this artwork has never been available on the Finnish iTunes Store, though there are three entries for the album there under different genres. Logging in with my US account, I have always been able to download the "small" album art, but never a high-res version)
Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls
(This is not only the "small" version, but not the standard cover/the one I have, which looks like the picture in the lower right corner of the current iTunes Store art)
Warren Zevon - Genius: The Best Of Warren Zevon
(This one surprises me, since Warren Zevon has been featured in some of Apple's advertising)
That is it for now. My library is in very good shape, thanks in huge part to the album artwork made available through the iTunes Store. Please let me know either on- or off-line if you need any further clarification on the items listed above. Thank you!

  • Podcast Get Info Album Art Not Saved for Future Episodes

I have iTunes 8. I noticed most of my podcasts have album art showing in grid view. When I upgraded to 2.1 on my iPhone and synced my iPhone I noticed no album art on the podcast main page on the iPhone. I decided to restore the phone to a new phone not backup and the new sync of my podcasts showed album art. However inside each podcast the album art wasn't showing on each episode.
Looking at iTunes for those affected episodes doing a Get Info showed not album art. I guess the podcast doesn't have album art. I right click on the podcast, not an episode, and select get info. I click on the album art box and check the box and inside the album art box double click which brings up a navigation display. I had already taken a screen shot of the album art in the iTunes music store for each podcast. I import the graphic to the album art box and save. All the current episodes have their artwork updated. Now I sync to the iPhone and all is well.
If I download a new episode for this podcast and do a Get Info on this episode there is no artwork. Looking at the Get Info for the podcast the artwork was never saved. However if you change a text field in Get Info and then download a new podcast episode that text field in the get info of the episode is updated. Why doesn't the album art not get saved and update each episode that is downloaded with missing album art?
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks
    Kelvin

Yeah, on my iPhone some of the album art for my podcasts was actaully changed to an arbitrary incorrect image. For example, instead of the Cranky Geeks logo, I get to look at New Kids on the Block (don't ask). I'm going to try unsubscribing from the podcast, deleting past episodes from my computer, sync the phone so it wipes out those old episodes and incorrect art, and then resubscribing and resyncing the phone. Hopefully that will transfer the correct art back up to the phone.

  • Deleting Album Art? I need the space for music!!!

So, how does one delete the album art from one's iPhone? I don't mind having it in iTunes, but don't have the space for it on my iPhone.
My iTunes library is at 22 GB (and growing, of course) and so space is at a premium.

You can do this but it will greatly complicate your syncing experience. Only way I know to do this is to delete album art in iTunes then re-sync with the iPhone. This will replace the songs on the iPhone with copies that don't have album art. The, back in iTunes, re download all your album art. Unfortunately, the next time you sync the iPhone, iTunes will again try to replace the files on the iPhone with new ones that have album art. As you can see, this could get to be a very big hassle.

  • Radiohead album art finally available - sort of

So we all have a rather complete Radiohead collection, and now finally their catalog has been released for sale in the iTunes Store. However, the album art is not yet (directly) downloadable for those of us who have bought the CDs and ripped and encoded our own files.
Well, the good news is that I've managed to get all my Radiohead album art from the iTunes Store with a little bit of temporary re-tagging. To get any of the album art, you'll have to change the Artist tag to Radio-head. This will allow downloads of all the mainstream studio releases. To get the album art for My Iron Lung, I had to also change the Album tag to +Lung (EP)+, and this worked fine.
When finished downloading all your album art, just be sure to go back and re-tag your albums properly.
    Cheers!

Interesting observation. I just had an instance where the last 12 seconds were getting chopped off of an album that I recently added to iTunes. The album art wasn't huge (700x700 px) but it was larger than I normally use. I went back and replaced that art with one with a smaller version, re-synced my iPod and now the songs play just fine.
I know I have other songs that have exhibited this behavior in the past. I'm going to have to make sure I try this with other songs to see if it was a coincidence or not.

  • Find and using album art

I took the album art off of Amazon to put in iTunes for music that the iTunes store doesn't sell. All that Amazon art is blurry. Is there a higher res album art source? Is there a better source for album art, more options?
Some of the albums create a separate album cover for each song on a album rather than each album so in "cover flow" each song is listed separately. Do you know what causes that?

I use art from Amazon. It can be hit or miss getting something high res, but most of what I've gotten has been fine. Did you click on the smaller image and let it open a larger image in another window? Be sure to copy the larger one.
On the multiple covers issue...make sure your tags are correct on the songs. I recommend you retype the name of the album and repaste it in the appropriate field on the songs. Sometimes empty spaces can be hiding in there and cause problems. Also...check and see if some tracks have an album artist while others do not. Is the album a compilation? If so, mark it as one. It can also depend on the what view you're using in iTunes. Which view are you set on?

  • Album art work

iPad music album art work disappeared after sync iTunes on my PC
Recently I synced my iPad with iTunes on my PC and after that when I open the Music player on my iPad, the art work of the albums have disappeared. It just shown as blank album. The songs are intact, just the art work is not visible.
Please let me know if you have experienced similar issue and was able to resolve.

    Hi,
I could solve this problem myself. Basically I had transferd (downloded) all my purchases to my PC. This also downloaded all the album art work as well. Next I went into Music Player on my iPad and deleted albums one by one (by pressing and holding each album you get a "x" icon). Once all albums were deleted from my music player, I re-synced my iPad with iTunes on my PC. All the songs and album art work came back.

  • What do you do when iTunes provides the wrong album art?

What do you do when iTunes downloads the wrong album art? I haven't found an easy way to override this or notify the iTunes store about it.
I have gone in and deleted, and re-updated the artwork. I have also gone song by song and looked to see if more than one piece of artwork is associated. Neither fix this.
Specific current example is the Amon Tobin album "Chaos Theory". The artwork was correct on this until just recently. Currently the artwork downloaded is for the Chaos Theory Remix album (for both the original album, and the remix album).
Who controls this? The content publisher (e.g.-Ninja tunes)?
    Thanks

Go into the track ot tracks en block and get info. Go to the artwork tab and delete the downloaded artwork. Google to find alternative artwork and then add it to the track(s).
