with that one, let's first uninstall completely your existing itunes and QuickTime, using the instructions from this document:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows
then download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, and use it to check to see if there is any leftover itunes or QuickTime Installation configuration information on the PC. if you find any, remove it with CleanUp.
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
now try another itunes install. does it go through without the 1311 this time?

  • I recently uninstalled and the download I tunes again. I am not getting a message when I try to add new download tunes to my shuffle.  "Disc cannot be found";  Error Code (.53).  What can I do to fix?

I updated my Shuffle software and after that could no longer add tunes from the ITunes file to my shuffle.  I get messages that say the disc cannot be found and an error code (.53).  I can download new tunes to ITunes on my computer but cannot then copy them to my Shuffle.  Any suggestions?  Damned updates!!!

Well my first suggestion would be to return the PC and buy a new Mac instead... but that aside
When you say you moved your iTunes library over how exactly did you do that? Typically I'd suggest that you download a clean version of iTunes from online, and then move over just the music files. Not any of the additional library relates files that are found in the iTunes folder. Yes you'll lose your playlists and song counts, but there are worse things in life.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Error 1311 when downloading new iTunes

Everytime I tried to download a new song, or even transfer songs from one computer to another, the computer said I had to update my iTunes. So I tried to, and everytime I do, it gets pretty far then says :Error 1311 File not found ( see the picture below) The bad thing is, it has deleted my old version, it got that far into the process. How can I fix this??

  • Unable to download i-Tunes due to page errors

Hello, I have a really odd, but annoying problem. Please allow me to explain the history of my problems. Unfortunately I am a moderately knowledgeable computer user, but I can't seem to figure out what's wrong and no one else I know who knows more than me can figure it out, either. I have been in the process of switching computers and OS's. I have my original computer back, which is a Dell laptop. I need to download i-tunes again. The OS I am using is Vista with the service pack 1. Unfortunately I am having various webpage issues, not just on i-Tunes websites but on every other site I try to go to. I have a screen shot which I saved of the way the webpage looks when I try to download i-Tunes 7.6.2. Basically, most of the page seems to laod fine, but images have an error on them and the left-side pane of the screen where I should be able to download i-Tunes from loads with an IE error. My internet connection is fine and stable. Any ideas? The worst part about this is that I use my computer for everything and I can't seem to find anyone who can help. This computer was not bought by me, but was provided to me through a work program. We've already gone through many steps to try to resolve this issue, including not using Vista anymore but returning to XP. My bf has Vista Ultimate with the service pack and his works fine. Thanks in advance for any advice, help, ideas you can offer.
Is there a way for me to include the screen shot of the problem I am having? Thanks again!

I'm not sure exactly what fixed the problem, but I double-checked Windows Update (my computer is automatically set to check/download updates at 3am, but this time I opened up Windows Update and check-marked the 3 optional updates. Unfortunately I can't remember what these were called, but 2/3 installed correctly and the 3rd did not. Suddenly several webpage errors were resolved on other websites so I tried downloading iTunes 7.6.2 again. I was able to see the necessary info to download instead of the IE error. iTunes installed correctly. I'm working on fixing my library right now.

  • I am trying to download i tunes onto my pc but get an error saying that some old i tune files can not be deleted before reinstalling.

I am trying to download i tunes onto my pc (Windows XP) but get an error saying that some existing files can not be deleted to be re installed.  I have tried several time but to no avail.

    Many thanks, that's perfect.
The older version of apple software update cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?
