Downloading Ipod Iibrary from Ipod to computer after reloading itunes

I am synced with another itunes library from an older version of itunes. I do not want to loose these songs that are currently on my ipod. I am told I can not be synced with multiple libraries.
Is there any way too download the library on my pod to my computer and merg with itunes to form a current library?
Thanks in advance.

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel".
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

    Hello bigali,
Your options are kinda limited. I would use this first:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and ...
Then check here for the non-purchased items:

You want to rebuild the library first, then sync the ipod.
Here is a good idea for when your done:

    Hope this helps.

i have an ipod that downloaded information to from an old computer. i now have a new computer, if i was to plug in my ipod to this new computer will all the items that i downloaded onto it still be on there or will it be erased?

If your iPod is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • HT1329 Can I update my iPOD touch from a new computer?

I was wondering if it's possible to update my IPOD touch from a different computer, the one I was using crashed and now I can't update my ipod and it's difficult because I can't download current games.
Also, How do I download my music from my ipod to the new computer

Copy or move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer or the backup of the old computer to the new computer, then you can sync and update the device.
If for some silly reason you have failed to backup, shame on you.
That being said you should be able to do the following:
Connect the device to the computer but do not sync.
Right click on the device and select Transfer Purchases.
Once complete, right click on the device and select Backup Device.
Doing this should change the device association to the new computer allowing you to sync and update the device and apps.

  • IPod service manager will not start after installing iTunes 10

iPod service manger will not start after loading iTunes 10. iPhone will not connect. I've removed reinstalled, wiped the registry reinstalled and deauthorized, removed and reinstalled from several different downloads. I have full permissions fo rservices and am administrator.. We now have three other units in teh office with the same issue.
    now what do I do?

Don't know about fixing PitStop. However, have you tried a simple repair on Acrobat. If Acrobat won't open you can do that from the Programs and Features menu (Add/Remove Programs in OS prior to Win7).

  • Why i cannot download the movie from the other computer by accessing my account

Why i cannot download the movie from the other computer by accessing my account

I just want to make sure I have your question correct, you rented a movie on a computer and you want to download it to another computer?
I believe because its a rental you can either stream it to your Apple tv or watch it on the computer you purchased the rental on, I dont think you can download it to another computer but you may be able to watch it on the other computer by homesharing, If you click on the library on the other computer thats in the homesharing section on the left pane it may work to stream it to the other computer to watch but not download
I could be wrong but I think because its a rental it has restrictions

I can't access half of my downladed music. I get a message, "can't locate file." I dauthorized my computer and reloaded itunes, but it did not help. Any suggestions? Thank you.

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
