Downloading Itunes 9 Problem
I've put off this problem for months now and am finally going to take some time to fix the problem. I'm currently on itunes 8(yes I've put it off that long) and cannot seem to update to Itunes 9.2 and am getting frustrated. Whenever I try the download off of the apple website I get a message saying "The older version of Bonjour cannot be removed." Once I proceed in the installation, eventually my installer stops working and the Itunes Installer gets interuppted. I have tried updated all Windows updates and browser updates(I'm on firefox) and I've tried using Internet Explorer instead but the download still fails. I've been reading and find that uninstalling Itunes doesn't seem to help.. so I'd like to refrain from that right now. Any help whatsoever would be appreciated. These sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any BonJour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing QuickTime again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

Cannot download iTunes. Problem with Runtime errror what do I do please?
I need to know what to do. I keep getting a message telling me iTunes is trying to open runtime incorrectly and to contact iTunes. But of course thats easier said than done. Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Trying to download itunes - internet problems
I have been trying to download itunes, but when it gets to about 64% complete, my internet keeps disconnecting.
Does anyone know if i can change my settings to stop the internet from automatically disconnecting just long enough for itunes to download, my internet speed is only about 44kb
Hope someone can help, i have tried to download itunes about 4 times.It sounds as though you need a download manger that will allow you to restart downloads. The are free ones available, try Googling download manager, add review to the search to see different ones compared.

when I plug my iPhone in to my computer, iTunes doesn't recognize it as a device. I have deleted and re-downloaded iTunes twice which seems to fix the problem temporarily but then the next time I plug my phone in, the device is not recognized.
What happens if you go to iTunes > File > Devices, do you get the option to Sync iPhone?

Problems mounting CDs after downloading Itunes 10 when on the internet
I'm new to both Macs and forums, so please bear with me if some of the terminology is wrong. Also, from the other posts I have looked at this seems to be a longstanding but unanswered issue, so feel free to direct me to other places if an answer is out there.
Basically, since I bought my MacbookPro in May almost all of the time cds mounted automatically and it found the CD info on the internet. Sometimes it hadn't been doing it first time round, but it wasn't too great an issue. However, earlier today I downloaded Itunes 10. Now, cds won't mount when I'm connected to the internet. In fact Itunes has a kind of flickering attack as though it's struggling to read the cd. Trying to manually mount the CDs using Disk Utility also doesn't work in this case. But if I UNcheck the "automatically retrieve cd track names from the internet" it mounts.
So, I can import cds but I don't have any of the information. Also, when I try to manually import the information ("Get track names) a message box pops up saying the information doesn't exist, which can't be the case on these widely available albums. I have tried various combinations of the suggestions mentioned (bar deleting and reinstalling software which I have no idea how to do) and nothing works.
Finally then, my questions:
1. Can I go back to the older version of Itunes that almost always worked? If so, how do i do so?
2. If I was to import the cds first, is there a way of adding the track information later, given what I wrote above.
So far my first few months using a Mac have been very pleasurable. However, this problem is quite frustrating at the halfway point of importing my cd collection to my Mac, so any answers would be really appreciated.Similar problems but not quite.
Yesterday, I imported a few CDs no problem. Then I noticed that one of my albums on my iPhone had the tracks in the wrong order (a pain on a gapless album!) but it's OK on the iMac.
I tried to re-import but iTunes crashes every time I click 'yes' to 'would you like iTunes to import...?'
I noticed that although the disc is mounted in the finder, it's not in iTunes and neither does it go off to check gracenote.
Anyway I fixed that issue with a reboot but the wrong track order still persists.

Try this...
Triple click anywhere in the line below to select it and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
cmd /k netsh winsock reset
Press the WinLogoKey+R to open the run dialog, then Ctrl+V to paste, then press enter/return.
You should get something similar to this:
Reboot the computer and the problem should be resolved.
If it doesn't work then perhaps a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes will fix things. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for details.

Problems downloading iTunes after upgrading to Windows 8.1
I just upgraded to WIndows 8.1. When I opened my iTunes it said there was an update was available. I tried to update my iTunes but kept getting errors. SO i decided to try and download the update later but when I tried to go to the iTunes store I got an error saying there was a problem accessing the iTunes store and then my iTunes closed. I looked at some of the comments in the community and tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Now when I try to download itunes I keep getting the following error:
I am the only user of the computer and the only administrator. I tried downloading the installer and then right clicking on it and selecting 'run as administrator' and this also doesn't work.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -
Can't download music - seems to be an iTunes Match problem
I have iTunes Match activated, which is working fine on my iPad and iPhone. However I cannot download purchased music onto the iMac.
In my household there is a shared iMac and each user has a different login & password. Only I know my login password. I have been using iTunes successfully on it for years, and have been using iTunes successfully for about 6 months now. Auto-download has been disabled for several months now because I don't want everything downloaded automatically. All has been fine until about a fortnight ago when the iMac stopped downloading newly purchased music whenever I clicked the little iCloud icon. This is for music that I have successfully purchased and downloaded on my iPhone whilst at work, and now want to listen to at home. Whenever I click the iCloud icon to download the new song I get an error message telling me that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID, and I have to wait 54 days etc to sign in with a new Apple ID. However I'm certain no other Apple ID has been used with my account - when I go to the Store menu it is showing my current and correct Apple ID.
The most telling proof that my Apple ID is correct on both iMac and iPhone (and iPad as well) is that when I plug the iPhone into the iMac, the new music syncs across EXACTLY as it should - and it can then be played without problems. Both the phone and the computer are correctly logged in to the same Apple ID, which is the same Apple ID that I use for iTunes Match. Also when I click Store -> Update iTunes Match there appears to be no Apple ID conflict.
Obviously this is an iTunes Match problem which I cannot resolve, can someone please provide assistance / advice.

Has anybody had the following error while trying to download iTunes 10.5? There is a problem with Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.
Go to "control panel" then "add or remove programs". Highlight "Apple software update" Choose "change" click "Repair" This should do the trick. Then download and install iTunes 10.5 again.

Yes, I had found a similar solution also. I'm running XP Pro, SP3. I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair. Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess. Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes. Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing. I haven't begun to work on that. -

Are you sure it was error 0604 since I never heard of that error, it does not appear in the list of errors in the following and a search of Apple's support site gets no hits. However, error 1604 is list and users have reported that error number. If 1604 is the error number the following tell yu wnat to do when you click on that error number:

Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?
