Downloading iTunes and importing music
Hi.
I am using an ACER 5610. This crashed recently so I rebooted using original start up discs.
Luckily all my music etc was on an external drive. I have tried to download iTunes. It downloads fine, to my external drive, but I then receive the below message AFTER successful install:
"Warning! iTunes was not properly installed. If you want iTunes to be able to retrieve CD information from the Internet, you need to reinstall iTunes".
Despite the above message iTunes opens OK. I then import from the external hard drive my music (approx 6000 tracks). Then I get below message:
"There is not enough room on "ACER" to copy all the requested files. Itunes will copy as many files as possible"
There is plenty of memory on my external drive. I'm stumped. Can anyone help?

You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.

ive got a laptop from a friend, she cleared everything off it. ive downloaded itunes and for some reason all her music has appeared in the library. How do i delete her music from the itunes libary so i can add my own music?
In iTunes, select the music you want to delete (⌘+a to select all) and hit Delete on your keyboard.
Also delete the music files in Finder. Also make sure you have your own Apple ID and iTunes account and logged in. -

It does not magically appear in a new place. It will only be where you put it.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one. -
I just got a new computer. I have downloaded ITunes and authorized it. It shows my apps and music, but says something about "downloading all". Do I have to download everythingon to this new computer or is it already in there? I also have an iPad that I need to sync. Is there anything special I need to do with the new computer before syncing the iPad?

Issy2090Your past purchases are not on the computer. By choosing download all, those purchases will download to the computer.
Once authorized to your iTunes account you can control the computer.
When syncing the iPad the first time you will get the warning " this iPad is synced with another computer, syncing will erase all contents and replace with the contents of this computer"

I recently downloaded my itunes account to a hard drive whilst my laptop was wiped and cleared of viruses. Having now re downloaded itunes and logged into my account my music etc doesnt show.
When i download itunes from the hard drive and found it on my lap top its like code that doesnt make any sense.
Any help much appreciated?Restore your media from the backup of the computer created prior to restoring the computer.
You did create a backup, correct? Not doing so would be extremely unintelligent.

I just downloaded itunes, and when i go to music there are two options. You can either go to the itunes store or scan for media, and when I click on scan for media it does nothing. Help? (I tried deleting itunes and re-installing it but apparently itunes was still on my computer so it asked me if I wanted to just check and see if there were any issues or missing software, so I did that but i still had the same problem.)

downloaded itunes and when it searched for music it took music off of a external hdd and that folder is now blank but not all the music is in itunes, I would like to have the music back on the hdd is that possible?
In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

Since downloading Spotify app (trial for 1 month), i seem to have lost itunes from my dock, including my music. How do i bring it & all my music back. the last time i saved it to my hard drive was 3 months ago.
If you start iTunes from Launchpad or Applications. It will Show the icon on the desktop. Right mouse click select Options and Keep in Dock.
When you say your music has dissapeared is it removed from your hard drive?
username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music is the path to my music on the local hard drive?
If it is missing from itunes then redrag the Music folder back into iTunes and your music should reappear.

Your library is on your old Laptop on the HDD.
iTunes keep is library on your HDD (hard disk) maybe you can take out the HDD of your crashed laptop and recover your music files
To have a libray on the net (or cloud) you can use in the future iTunes Match, he upload you library on a cloud (on the net) with your account. So you can share and enjoy your music everywhere.

Hi there, can anyone please help? Download itunes and it says The Itunes library .itl file is locked, or on a locked disk or you do not have write permission for this file.
Holding down the shift key while iTunes is opening. That will bring up the 'choose iTunes library' dialog. Select 'Choose LIbrary' from the choices and navigate to your music folder and iTunes music folder.
