Downloading iTunes purchases again

Recently, the hard drive in my iMac (having owned my iMac for only a year and a half) broke and was wiped. The Mac was covered and was repaired, but everything on the hard drive was gone. As a result, all of my purchases have disappeared. Is it possible to download these again?
If anyone cares, this is my purchase history.

Rage Against the Machine - Killing In THe Name
TISM - Untz Untz Untz Untz
TISM - Machines Against the Rage (Album)
Splatpattern - ******* ******* ****

And two episodes of The Wire: Middle Ground and Mission Accomplished
Thank you.

Do you have them on an iPod? If so, you should be able to transfer purchases.
Otherwise, you could contact the iTunes Store and ask to re-download the items on your account. While they are under no obligation to do so, they have been known to grant such requests. Never hurts to ask.

  • I've lost all my music since my last computer died. How do I get that music back without having to pay for it? I read somewhere that there is a "form to request to download iTunes purchases again", is this true?

All of my music is missing from iTunes since my last computer died and had to get a new one.  How do I get that music back without having to pay for it again?  I've read somewhere there is a "form to request to download iTunes purchases again", is this true?

Media should be included with the backup of the computer that all users should be creating on a regular basis as part of basic computer/data maintenance.
In the event that you do not have a backup (stop being lazy.... keep backups of YOUR data and other important files)
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, it is possible to redownload music via iCloud from purchased history.
If you are not in the US or for some reason cannot run iTunes 10.3 or later, contact iTunes customer support and ask very nicely for the opportunity to redownload the content.  They are not required to provide this opportunity.
It is also possible to transfer content from an iDevice that was purchased via iTunes.  On the new computer, sign into the iTunes account, authorize the computer, connect the device then select File > Transfer Purchases.
The simplest method of all is to transfer or copy the media (and other important files) from the old computer or the backup of the old computer.  Typing "move itunes library" into the search bar here or into google will reveal step by step instructions on how to do this.

Has any of you had this problem or know what I can do to fix this problem?? Thanks!!!

    Hi Bander Bunny!
I have a couple of articles that should be able to help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes first. This has to be done in a specific manner, and this article can help you do that:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Another option is that you may want to try syncing your iPod nano manually. Here's is an article that pertains to manually managing the content of your iPod nano:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
It's also possible that this issue resides with your iPod nano. Here is a website that will help you troubleshoot the iPod nano:

  • Re-downloading iTunes purchases once deleted from your hard drive

OK - any help will be greatly appreciated.
I work abroad a lot and download iTunes purchases to watch while away.  However, the files take up a lot of space on my MacBook Air, so, once watched, I've deleted them from my hard drive to free up space once I'm home.
Now, when I want to see them again, I go into iTunes, each episode has an exclamation point on the left hand side, no cloud icon to be seen, and when I click on it, I get the message:
The TV show could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?
It can't be located on my computer because I deleted it from my hard drive to free up space.
So why can't I just re-download it from iTunes - I have, after all, paid for it?
    Many thanks.

    Good day Jane,
As you surmise, the exclamation point symbol next to the song in iTunes means that iTunes can not find the file containing the video. See this article -
iTunes 12 for Mac: Symbols used in iTunes
In order to download the content again you will need to delete it from iTunes before downloading again. To delete the song select it in your music and use the Delete key. See this article -
iTunes 12 for Mac: Delete songs, playlists, or other items
Once the video is no longer in your iTunes library, you can download it again using the steps in this article. Note that this assumes that the item is still available in iTunes in your location. Items that have been removed from the store will not be available -

  • Cannot Install Item / Please restart the app and download your purchase again

I haven’t had this error message myself but one of my colleagues has, any ideas?
    Cannot Install Item
Please restart the app and download your purchase again
Three of our team (including me) have now been able to download the entire app after first archiving and starting afresh but the forth guy (the Editor in Chief) is still struggling with only half available. He has deleted the Content Viewer app and downloaded it again without being able to download more than half the app (560 MB total). We are 10 days away from our deadline so at a critical stage.

We just had a customer complain that they couldn't sign-in or upate.  We tried it on our devices and were able to sign-in successfully.  Then we tried archiving and re-downloading the folio they were trying to download.  It did the start-stop thing with the download numbers but eventually finished without me doing anything.  Then when it got to the install part of the process it only progressed to a tiny sliver and then didn't progress any further for at least 15 minutes.  I then canceled, re-downloaded again and the install process got to about 40% before hanging indefinitely.  I quit the Adobe Content Viewer app, restarted it and tapped on "resume".  It took a couple of minutes but it did finish the install.  When viewing the folio, about 40% of the way into the articles one of them was completely gray.  Essentially it wasn't downloaded/installed correctly.  I'm wondering if this might have something to do with the screen going to sleep so I changed the timeout from 10 minutes to 30 minutes.  The download and installation were successful, so I have archived and am re-downloading again just to hopefully repeat the success.  The folio is 306MB, so it's not huge but not small either.  Lots of videos and multi-state objects are in this folio but it has been downloaded and viewed successfully many times before.  No changes have been made to this folio for at least a couple of weeks.
I'm very disappointed that we aren't past the point of these things still happening.  It makes it very difficult for us to pitch tablet apps to new customers when simple things like delivery to the end user is so unpredictable and frustrating for both our customers and us.  I hope Adobe realizes that lack of reliability is going to stop many users like our company from being able to recommend their system to potential digital publishing customers.  There are lots of companies/potential customers that want tablet apps, however why should we try to court their business if the platform isn't reliable?  We end up looking like incompetent fools because the system we told them to invest in isn't able to perform basic functions reliably.  If Adobe wants to make money from us and our customers we need the standard/basic features of Adobe's digital publishing system to work every hour of every day.  Rare exceptions and problems will always happen with any technology (even utilities like electricity and city water aren't bulletproof), however the problems users are experiencing haven't been rare.  We were an early adopter starting with the pre-release program in the hopes that we could offer customers a great solution and be part of the beginning of another great Adobe solution.  Up to this point we've tried to be very understanding of early growing pains with the technology and have apologized to our customers for the lack of a fully functional system many times and so far they have been patient and understanding.  The patience and understanding from both us and our customers is beginning to wear very thin.

I recently have acquired a new PC with Vista Home Premium as OS (My XP PC's motherboard gave up the ghost).
Is it possible to re-download iTunes purchases onto my new machine?
I have searched the iTunes site but can find no way of linking previous purchases to my new machine.

You can download only one time.
Copy the song files from your other PC to the new one.

  • IOS Newsstand: Cannot install item please restart the app and download your purchase again.

I'm struggling with iOS 8 Newsstand. I've downloaded the new issue of "Intelligent Life." The issue opens then crashes after one page turn. When I try to reopen the issue, I get an error message, "Cannot install item please restart the app and download your purchase again." I've deleted the app and reinstalled it but no change. I've tried to "Restore All Purchases" also to no avail. Advice?
    Other Newsstand titles work normally.
    Thank you.

    Hello hp12c,
If you are still having crashing issues with the app, check against the article below to continue your troubleshooting. Check to see if magazine has been updated to be compatible with iOS 8. If you are still running into issues, you may need to contact the developer.

I understand the confusion. Those tracks are royalty free to the owner of the tracks, yes. The terms of use of the iTunes Store still state, though, that all purchases are for your own personal use and cannot be used commercially:
    USAGE RULES
    1. You shall be authorized to use iTunes Products only for personal, noncommercial use.
They're probably fine for presentations in a class or to a group at your company, but you probably could not post the presentation or a video using these tracks on a public site. I'm no lawyer, though, to legally define what would and would not constitute "noncommercial". It's probably best to just buy your tracks directly from one of these sites of royalty-free music. Then the use license should be completely clear.
    Regards.

  • Downloading previous purchased again

    Hi,
Just downloaded some purchased tv show on to my pc and I accidently deleted the folder.
Now i'm trying to download it again it will not let me.  ( same PC)
    1. I went to itune store "purchased" it shows the "Downloaded buttton" but i can't click on it to download .
    2. I went  to the library TV Shows and try to click on the "cloud button" and would not allow me to click on it either to download.
    -Vin

Go into iTunes, locate the shows there, and delete them from within iTunes. Then you should be able to download the shows again.
    Regards.

  • Re-Downloading iTunes Purchases

After switching to Windows 7. I realised I backed up all of my iTunes purchases, except 1 season of a TV show. Is there ANY way for me to re-download them, or plead my case to Apple!??
Thank you in advance for any help

If you didn't make a back-up of your music/movie purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again: iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
If you have an iPod that still has any of your purchases on it you'll find details in this article on how to transfer them to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
Failing this, you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link it'll take you to the support/contact page: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

  • Error 450 whenever I attempt to download iTunes purchase!!!

When I purchase an item on iTunes and it goes to the "downloads" folder, sometimes it will stop downloading and says that it has encountered error 450.
I'm losing money and I can never tell which songs will download and which will fail.
Can someone please tell me what the error means, how to fix it, and/or any way to download said purchases?
I've already sent a complaint to iTunes and haven't received any information.
    Please help!!

These are the instructions I received from Apple. Even though the IP addresses were not getting blocked by parental controls I still entered them into my daughters "allowed" list and this solved the problem. I did not have to go all the way to step 3. However I did step 2 first and this did not fix the problem until I took care of the parental controls suggestion. Good luck
    Step1)
Error 450 is usually associated with the Parental Controls in Windows Vista. To download purchases from the iTunes Store, you will need to add the following Internet addresses to your Parental Control's safe list:
    http://www.apple.com
    http://itunes.apple.com
    http://ax.itunes.apple.com
If you require assistance adding these addresses to your Parental Control's safe list, please contact Microsoft or your computer's manufacturer.
After adding these addresses to your Parental Controls safe list, you should be able to download your purchases by choosing Check for Available Downloads from the Store menu in iTunes.
    Step 2)
If you still are unable to download your purchases, please make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes, which is available free of charge:
    http://www.itunes.com/download
Then, follow these instructions to use Network Diagnostics:
    1) Open iTunes.
    2) Choose Diagnostics from the Help menu at the top.
    3) Select Network Diagnostics and click Run. A report will show your Network Interface Status, your Internet Connection Status, and your iTunes Store Connection Status.
    Step 3)
Using Network Diagnostics helps you to locate the issue that is preventing you from downloading your purchases. If not, please respond to customer support email with the following:
    - The results provided by Network Diagnostics
    - The type of Internet connection you use, such as dial-up, cable modem, DSL, or corporate network
    - The name of your Internet service provider (ISP)
    - The name of any firewall, antivirus, or security software installed on your computer

  • Still can't download iTunes purchases, please help! incorrectly says "network connection timed out"

I've been trying for 4 days to download purchased media from iTunes and I keep getting this error message "The network connection timed out." I assure you my internet connection works perfectly.
Not sure if this is relevant, but this error spontaneously happened after my most recent purchase on the night of 2/10. I was able to download some iTunes extras right before I made the most recent HD movie purchase, and as soon as I tried to download that, nada!
Here's what I've already tried, but has NOT worked:
    -re-opening iTunes
    -restarting computer (several times)
    -deleting tmp files
    -disabling antivirus ware & firewalls
    -deleting & re-installing iTunes
If anyone has any other ideas to help me out, I'm all ears!
    Thanks!

You will need to do it using a third-party utility such as Phone to PC. Also, see:

  • I can't download itunes purchased music from my library to my 4th generation nano ipod.

I can't download my itunes purchased music from my library to my 4th generation nano ipod.

An iPod Touch is not a backup/storage device. You should have been maintaining a backup of your personal data on an external HDD using Time Machine or other backup software of your choice.
However, there are ways to "recover" the music:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
Once you have recovered the music I strongly suggest you purchase an external HDD and start using Time Machine to keep a backup of your personal data.
