Yep. No problem. Lightroom doesn't activate/deactivate like other Adobe products do. Just download it, apply your serial number, and you'll be good to go. Your serial number is available on your old computer when you run LR. Help->System info...
If you copy all your images in the same folder structure to the Mac and copy your LR catalogue there, then it is a simple thing to reconnect the images to your catalogue. Right-click on the highest folder in the hierarchy (in the Folders panel) and choose Find Missing Folder. Repeat if you have several highest-level folders.

It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? The qualifying product is the older version that you owned before you purchased the upgrade to version. It is what qualifies you to use the less expensive upgrade version. So you need to select the older version and provide its serial number to prove that you qualify for using the upgrade.

Without proper system information and other details nobody can help you. and this error means what it says - some other install process is still active, even if it may not do so visible. Could be a silent update of a virus scanner or something, could be a botched install of another program, not even specifically Adobe. As a start, always reboot your computer and then try again. For anything else we need much more info.

You had better check with your IT dept. before installing. It could get you fired. If there is any sort of network security on your work computer you probably won't be able to install anything as you don't have admin rights.
