Downloading message error 3259

While I update my usual podcasts the download is at a snails pace and ends up stopping with a message error 3259. What is 3259? Everything else on my pc runs just fine the only exception being updating my podcasts. Along with the question of what is error code 3259 how might I resolve the problem? Thanks for any help someone might offer.

Mike,

p.s. I'm not sure if this fix works with Vista, but I'd be interested to find out (if you decide to try it).

  • Can't download music - error 3259

I can't download the album I purchased. It keeps saying the network connection timed out. It is not my connection or firewall. I never had any trouble until I downloaded the newest version of iTunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I have tried downloading single songs...HELP! This is driving me crazy!!!

I use itunes all the time, I know how to download and transfer. I own video ipod 80, and I just bought an ipod shuffle. Since I bought the shuffle, itunes will not transfer all my purchases. i.e. my last order contained 43 downloads, it only transferred one song and one video from what I bought. The rest keep popping up error 3259 - and "network connection timed out"... I have done everything your site has suggested. And it has been two days now, and this is not acceptable. I want what I paid for. This has never happened before until I got the shuffle. I have updated itunes, and even redownloaded and installed, and the same crap keeps popping up. It's odd how 2 of the 43 items download just fine, and the rest do not.

  • Take account online to download message error WITH a twist

Mail is telling me that "The message from _ concerning _ has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
I've looked over many posts here about this problem, and many solutions involve moving the correlating .mbox folder to the desktop, re-opening mail, and rebuilding.
Here's the twist - I can't find my .mbox file, or the mailbox in Mail, but I can find all the "non-downloaded" messages when searching from within Mail. All the messages, until today, were in the mailbox that is now missing.
Where did my .mbox file go, and how can I restore the messages?
    24" Intel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   2.33 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 7600GT

Have you checked whether the missing mailbox is within some other folder? If the mailbox is nowhere to be seen in ~/Library/Mail/ and Spotlight doesn’t find anything, that means the messages are gone and what you’re seeing in Mail are just the entries that remain in the index — Mail displays that bogus error messages because it cannot find the *.emlx file associated with the message where the index says it should be. Re-creating the index would “fix” the problem by getting rid of the phantom entries, but won’t make the messages reappear.
Before doing anything, if the messages are gone and you don’t have a backup, you may try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage. Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.
You should also verify/repair the disk (not just permissions), as described in the following article, in case there is some filesystem corruption that has a bearing on what happened:

  • Resume download after error -3259

    iTunes 7.6.2.9
    Windows Vista
I have a connection that periodically drops out during a download. If I am trying to download a 300MB+ file into iTunes and my connection drops, I get an error message "stopped (err= -3259)", which I think is the error number for a line fault. When I get to the final few MB and the line drops, it is very irratating since when I try to download again it starts from the beginning.
Is there some way for the download to resume where it had left off, i.e. if I already have 300 MB of a 340 MB download, I want to download only the remaining 40 MB? I think this is the way an FTP download works.
    Thanks for any help,
    Rick

did you ever resolve this i am having the same problem

  • Problems downloading songs: error 3259

I've been very patient with iTunes over the past month while it's been having difficulties downloading my songs. At the begining of the new year, my problems stopped and my songs finally downloaded. Now, I have tried downloading songs again and it's not doing anything. I can download apps and update them, but nothing else happens. I have the most recent version of iTunes and software for my iPod Touch 3rd gen. More important pieces of information: no other software was updated before this problem started and when I run a diagnostics test, it says the secure link to iTunes has failed, but it won't let me click the help button to let me fix it. Please help in anyway you can!

Same problem. It all started on the week of New Years. I also received a new iPod Touch and downloading Apps is fine on it. I thought at first the speed was due to an un estimated amount of customer downloads, but... looks like I might be wrong. If anyone has an answer please tell me, I've never had this problem since I got my first generation Nano.

  • Error -3259 ; I can't download songs

I purchased a CD off of iTunes, but everytime it goes to download the songs I get the message "Error -3259 and it says my network connection has been timed out. However, about 4 of the 20 songs HAVE downloaded. I have tried restarting iTunes but I continue to get the error message. I've downloaded the most recent iTunes system for my Windows Vista computer and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I am having the same error code and am unable to download purchased music. I've searched and searched for answers but so far have not found anything helpful

  • Error = -3259 and Error 1479

I have been trying to download the latest update for an ipod touch and at first I got the message Error = -3259. (something about timeout) I followed 3 or 4 different instructions to fix the problem. I now have a problem in that everytime I try to download the update now, I get error message 1479. It can download anywhere up to 21mb before the message appears. Can anyone help me please?? This is driving me nuts!! Cheers

    Hi There,
Firstly did you get a response for this
For the last three months I have been trying to download my favourite daily podcast and I always get err 3259. It is quite strange as it is only this particular podcast, others seem to work fine.
I have read many posts on this, and have tried to log in and out of itunes, I have not downloaded any anti virus software so dont think i can disable this, not sure about how to disable a firewall or if even I have one.
I connect wireless to a Belkin modem. This is my home connection so have no other intermediaries.
Nothing seems to work, all I can think I have changed in the last three months is I run my i tunes off my external hard drive.
Can anyone help me as this is my daily dose of home and my favourite radio dj's and am having withdrawals!
    Thanks so much in advance.
    Bella

Temporarily disable any antivirus/antispyware software you are using and make sure your firewall is not interfering.

  • How can I download iphone software 5 when I keep getting this error message: There was a problem downloading the s/w for the iphone ...The network connection timed out. It's error 3259

I keep getting an error message saying my network connection has timed out when I try to download the iphone 5 software to my iphone 4 while it's connected to my laptop. Then it says make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active. The download gets all the way to the end (takes about an hour mind you), and keeps timing out.  It's error 3259.  FYI, I have the latest version of iTunes.

Security software on your computer/router is the usual cause of this. Turn off/disable or uninstall all anti-virus software & firewalls. Try again.

  • Error 3259 message when download firmware update finish?

I have tried to download the update firmware 2.0.1 and same error when I tried for 2.0.2. I saw the download stopped at 248.7MB/248.7MB at the itune app store screen, then itunes stopped and show error 3259 0MB/248.7MB. The description was: check the network connection or check whether the connection has been activated? (translation from Chinese error message)
What had happen? and how can I fix it?
    Please kindly heldp.

I really have no answers, but I wanted to say that the same thing is happening to me! Only I'm not as fortunate to get to 248.7MB...mine "times out" at 5.6MB. I have no idea why this is happening...there are no other users logged into my network...no other processes going on while I'm attempting to download...but yet it keeps giving me error 3259. HELP!

When I look in the downloads section, it's error 3259. I tried removing my firewalls and everything, and the support articles at apple don't help. Please help me!
